If that’s from who I think it’s from, I’ve had mine forever and have not built it for the same reasons you were hesitant to build it. My wings were not that warped though but the wings are missing a ton of the strips due to miscast. The end result is fabulous though!
Thank you!! And it's now been identified as coming from Diego Brazzo who bought the patterns from Mike Salzo (who got them from Scott Alexander who is Captain Cardboard). Long lineage for sure haha. It took me awhile to tackle this one, nowhere near as challenging as my TIE Fighter build. Glad it's over though and proudly displayed in my office! Good luck with your build!!
I have the same exact model that I received in a trade the pictures didn't show the imperfections really well. I was really pissed off because I traded a nice studio scale X-wing kit that I make and received a piece of crap Recasted TIE Fighter that I ended up never building. I ended up making a very nice 3D printed one in resin with nice crisp details. For what it was you took a turd and you made it look like a decent model good job.
Oh man that’s terrible! Now that I have a resin printer I’m for sure going to start printing some studio scales. I have an AT-AT on the horizon. Haha. Thanks for the compliment too. It took a lot but as long as you don’t look really close it looks pretty decent haha.
Hello from George. Just to say hello and watch the Star Wars builds. You won't believe I still have not purchased the 1/32 scale Tie Fighter. It's available for $158.95 AU not many around at at the moment. To busy buying other models and trying to buy Star Wars Helmets of the original trilogy films. I'm hoping soon I'll buy the Tie large model. You mentioned you are going to make I think 1/2 Studio Tantive IV from Korbanth. I don't know which one that is. I haven't kept up with the follow up Star Wars Series. Ive never seen The Mandalorian, The Book Of Boba Fett, Ahsoka or any other latest series. So I'm a little lost when I hear unknown Spacecraft or characters. Not long ago I watched shorts of Ahsoka and the character Captain Enoch I'm impressed by. I even bought a very low priced PVC helmet. Till I find a better one. I've run out of space in my small two bedroom unit but I keep collecting. And the worst part I'm not exactly a young person but I love my interests. I don't have family just me. I have two sisters but we're not at a short proximity exactly. All the best be well I have your video of the Millenium Falcon to watch. Take care. Regards George. In Melbourne Australia.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️
Hi George! Thanks for the note. Sounds like you're growing your collection in other ways! If you do get a chance to check out the Mandalorian, or Ahsoka, etc. they are pretty good! I hear you about the space issues. I'm running out. I have no idea where I'm going to put my Millennium Falcon haha. Have you looked at the Bandai model kits? They are typically smaller but of really high quality. So you don't necessarily run into the space issues (they all fit nicely on regular book shelves). Something to think about! That Tantive IV is the blockade runner we see at the very beginning of Star Wars. It's a huge model, about 42" long. Again... NO idea where I'm going to put this thing haha. All the best to you as well. I hope you get your hands on that TIE Fighter!
Hello there. Good to hear from you. My word I should've known which is the Tantive IV. You see some of the Star Wars spacecraft I missed the names to busy with all the excitement of the film. I have a few of the Bandai kits. I have several of each I've ended up with six W-Wing Fighters the 1/72 scale. It's one of my favorites and plan to build the one's in Star Wars Gold Leader 1 Gold 2 and 3. I have also the Bandai Slave 1 several X-wings four different sizes five Skout Walkers Three Biker Skout Spreader bikes, four Stormtroopers, Darth Vader and of course C3-P0 and R2-D2. And the list goes on.I could go on forever. Speaking of Biker skout have you seen the studio scale 3D printed one? It's superb some guy unboxed that and it's super detailed. I wouldn't be surprised if you have that. Out of those Star wars series I wouldn't mind seeing Ahsoka I've seen shorts on TH-cam love the Captain Enoch character. I'm a Boba Fett fan back in the mid 1980s I met and spoke to David Prowse Darth Vader and Jeremy Bullock Boba Fett. I'm sad of there passing. I have photos I managed to get signatures . The helmet I built all those years ago was signed by Jeremy and his wife it still exists. If I ever figure how to send photos I shall. They were my great experiences. If I could show you photos of those times back in the day. Believe it or not I was the first ever Boba Fett Cos play of my own making. Mr. Bullock actually put on my costume and walked in ...boy was I red faced. Friends did that to surprise me. They certainly were the days. Sorry I've babbled on too much. Take care good to know you and watch those great builds. I'm very jealous. All the best.👍✌️🇭🇲🦘🐨
Thats another great build of the Tie Fighter. Great job a recast model. So well made fixing imperfections. That would be least noticed. Just the size of that model is exciting enough. I don't have any large Tie Fighter model except different small size ones. The latest new 1/32 scale is something i can just afford to buy. Not a super crazy price. Again anither enjoyable video there. Thats a big Tie! Do you have the studio size Y-Wing Fighter by chance? Anyway good work. From George in Melbourne Australia.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨
Hey George! Thank you so much. This was certainly a fun and challenging build that tested my skill set haha. I don't have a studio scale Y-Wing but I'm sure one will be on the bench soon enough. I've seen and heard good things about the AMT studio TIE, did you pick it up yet? My next kit is the DeAgostini Falcon and then the 1/2 studio scale Tantive IV from Korbanth (I'm running out of space here!!) haha.
@@MADEbyAP Hello from George again. Thanks for reply. Very much enjoy watching the builds. I'm very jealous of those fantastic models. At the moment I don't own the 1/32 scale Tie Fighter. Hopefully soon. A matter of time. I've seen the build it looks great lots of crisp details and by the sise of the solar panels it's an exceptional size. I'll be happy with that. I hope they do the X-Wing, Y-Wing and Darth Vader Tie. I do have the re release of that which is a good model also. But the ones you've mentioned that's pretty amazing. You probably have a studio like home I suppose or plenty of room. Good for you. All the best.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨

BONDO is two part polyester resin for auto body filling of dents. What you're referring to is SPOT PUTTY. No one calls this Bondo. It's for small imperfections in paint like chips. It's not the same thing. So when you're referring to Bondo - only do so with the two part gray filler and not the spot putty. Too many people say this on the modeling forums but are wrong when doing so. Did you buy this model from Mike Tait? If so that would explain the horrible quality of moulding and recasting. A hair dryer works miracles for warped resin parts. The RPF = The Real Pricks Forum! This and Startshit Modeler where there are so many assholes that think they're God's gift to mankind, and modeling and the universe at large! I stay away from all that - too much drama. Ahhh noted on the nomenclature. I guess Bondo just trips off the tongue better than Spot Putty lol. I actually don't remember who I got it from, I picked it up off of Ebay in early 2020 and the description said it was a miscast, so they got it really cheap from the caster. They didn't say who that was (and I was so new in my scale modeling journey I didn't think to ask) however through some poking around it looks like it was an early version of Steve Nicen's kit. He confirmed it did look similar but I don't recall if he confirmed if it was a miscast or a bad recast. Regardless yes, hot water and the blow dryer was super helpful haha. I'm glad you liked the video. Agreed there's kind of a mixed bag on those groups, I will say that I've found the Starship Modeler group to be much more encouraging and forgiving. Next up is a studio scale X-Wing, possibly the Captain Cardboard but again, bought off of eBay so not sure if it's a recast or an original. Now I know the questions to ask (and to just avoid eBay in general haha).
@@MADEbyAP These are most likely recasts. Mike Tait was one of the most prolific of the recasters that helped to destroy the garage kit industry. I've been modeling for over forty years.
