Let this be a lesson that the effort you put into being original and creative will pay off ten fold. Even more if you enjoy what you do.

I first set eyes on this game on a friends Acorn Electron, and was instantly hooked! You had to load from tape quite a bit if I remember correctly, but that just gave you time to plan ahead and take a breather! As soon as I could I brought a copy for my 48k Spectrum and began my own journey. I got as far as the dangerous rank before I become distracted by other real life events and stopped playing it. Thank you Mr. Braben and Mr. Bell for one hell of a game.

It does load from tape in one go, no other loads on any version. Also it doesn't take that long to load from tape either.

Well, it was a long time ago, still a great game though :)

Played it on my C64, and my first thought was wow. But then I got +30 more pirated games to try and being 13 i somehow forgot Elite. I still regret that, because I loved similar type of games in later dates. Would be fun to compare the original Acorn (or BBC) Elite to the C64 Elite (did David Braben have anything to do with the coding on the C64?).

Elite was rejected by publishers, but they would take it if it was made more "arcade-like". Good business sense (what a joke) seems to be just to do the bare minimum and take the least risks. Unfortunately that mindset completely stifles progress and creativity, and this is why money minded men in suits should have zero say in the creative side of a product.

Then nothing would happen as a rule. That's capitalism. Really, that's why this kind of originality is less and less likely to appear, in all disciplines such as film and all kinds of creativity. Support indy developers!
