Bob Graham Round. Toby White races the clock. A story of perseverance, mental + physical strength.

An epic attempt which goes down to the wire. The Bob Graham Round is an iconic fell running challenge. Aged 61, Toby White aimed to be just the fifth person over 60 and the first in an anticlockwise direction to do this challenge and thus complete a lifetime ambition.

Our first attempt in 1986 by 3 Horsforth Fellandale members was also anti-clockwise. I supported on the section over the Helvellyn tops from Dunmail to Threlkeld.

That was one of the best videos I’ve ever watched on TH-cam. What an amazing achievement. I’m probably wrong but I’m certain I saw you late spring this year on Helvellyn?. If it wasn’t you then you have a doppelgänger out there on the fells.

Why did you decide on anti clockwise and a 9am start? Most attempts seem to be night starts and clockwise direction?

Toby started for that very reason. 9am meant starting after a good nights sleep and enabled the night section to be done over the Helvellyn Hills which are possibly a bit easier.
