the my sims ds series was my childhood😭 i usually replay them once a year and they honestly still hold up; the soundtracks are so good, and i still listen to them occasionally
I love how you have beef with just about every character, and the only one you openly vibed with is Dr. F, a character with such a loose grip on reality that they should probably be institutionalized
MySims always felt like Minecraft Steves thrown into Animal Crossing, a weird mix that has nothing to do with actual Sims... or they're Funko Pops with an actual face. Your guess is as good as mine
Fun fact: I stayed home from school the days Mysims, Kingdom, and Agents came out (5th grade, 6th, and 7th, which was harder cuz I lived across the street from my middle school and was so excited I ran outside to get it from my stepdad who'd picked up my preorder 🤫)
Honestly i liked MySims and MySims Kingdom more than any of the original sims games. I sometimes still revisit the game for the nostalgia and it's so fun.
I don't blame you for how you felt about the DS versions lmao. MySims Kingdom was a lot more charming in the Wii version I found, personally. Though the first game on Wii was a uh, experience. I found it basically made my Wii sound like it was dying horribly and screaming for mercy and it was basically a chore simulator, but was far more enjoyable when I made the silliest and inappropriate objects for tasks. xD
@@prudencesofty Definitively play the first MySims on PC! You avoid the Wii loading screens and remote wiggling which there is a LOT of, and it comes with more content and characters that are in the later games.
fun fact! the first mysim game (the one for console) didn't have a gender option for the player! The character models are all they same so they just gave you all the customization and voice options, and iirc the player was exclusively addressed as "you" or by name
nlg i had mysims and mysims kingdom on ds growing up and though i played the shit out of both of them i never liked them all that much- EXCEPT i distinctly remember fucking loving the casino games in the first one. seriously, i have so many memories playing the blackjack one into all hours of the night, it was ridiculous. i kinda did the same thing with the casino games in mario 64 ds, think i had a gambling problem as a kid, lol. ironically, things like tower unite's virtual poker or blackjack just don't really appeal to me the same way as these weird, simplified ds versions did
My parents got my MySims Kingdom for me as my second Nintendo DS Game. I wanted Animal Crossing so badly but they thought I was not old enough. Sadly I have lost that MySims game very fast and never found it again. I wished for the Wii version, thinking it would be the same but it wasn't. I few years ago I bought all of them and played them, still love it.
Haven't finished the vid yet but I just wanted to say... That f*cking Kayak mini game was the bane of my existence as a child! I have bad bad bad memories with that.....
As a kid I owned MySims, MySims Agents, and MySims Party. Despite MySims Party being objectively the least story driven of the games, I always found myself playing that one the most. I’ve always loved character creator games and also the mini games made it fun to play with my brother. Also it has Gothboy and Violet in the same game, so, overall win. I have good memories of MySims overall, though it’s really just a nice pleasant little game. And MySims Agents, well… I still haven’t finished it. I’m still stuck on the level where you have to stalk the bad guy. It’s fun though, and I distinctly remember having a thing for Tim and Abel when I was young. The MySims games have a lovely place in my childhood, and I even bought the pc game recently, which is nice, but not nearly as character driven as the ds games which is a little sad for me. But I still kinda love the franchise for its cozy little atmosphere and silly characters.
i feel like party wouldve been the one i wouldve played most as a kid too!!! tbh that bit on agents where u stalk thief guy is well hard, i was suprised when i actually did it?? yeah they are nice lil games tho especially the first 2!! surprised that the pc version didnt live up to the ds version tho thats sad was hoping it wouldve been even better :(

But the characters feel really barebones compared to the ds games, which I guess makes sense because the pc game is more of a cozy little furniture building game instead of a story driven game like the ds games. Still tho I love this franchise a lot. Fantastic video though, I’m glad you checked out this silly little franchise!
@@toxiccrybaby The characters in the original didn't even have dialogue early in development, from what I've seen, the ability to talk to people was a relatively late addition. So that's probably why.
I still unironically love MySims on PC! It's a great relaxing game, sort of like Animal Crossing with more creative input but less dialogue, and without the godawful Wii controls. I was really hoping EA would give it another shot when New Horizon blew up, but oh well. The DS versions come across as deranged fever dreams compared to the Wii/PC ones. 😂 Clearly someone put all of half an effort into making these. There's some strong "we have MySims at home" energy here

Games like these make me so nostalgic to my lonely childhood, strict parents never let me out so I connected w games like these. Ur commentary on how this is similar to animal crossing made me realize that I have the same taste as I did then now and I think it’s sweet.

I had MySims Kingdom for the DS as a kid. I enjoyed it, but obviously not enough to justify buying the rest of them. It was quite a surprise when I looked up a video years later to sort of revisit it without access to my DS, and found out that MySims Kingdom Wii was an entirely different game
My first Sims game at all whatsoever was MySims + MySims Racing for the Wii MySims was like my favorite thing ever I played it literally every moment of free time I had, it was so fun I loved all the characters, and Patrick was my best friend Everyone in the town always felt like they were like me (in retrospect, because all of them feel at least a tiny bit neurodivergent) and they were all so fun to hang out with and give gifts and do tasks for (and the game allowing me to wear girl clothes as a boy character helped contribute to me experimenting with gender, which ultimately led to me realizing I was nonbinary) Also this video was very enlightening because it made me realize that the Wii version of the game and the DS version of the game are actually very different, with different mechanics, characters, plot lines, and everything Like this isn't a port of the Wii game this is just a whole different game

MySims was one of my favorite games growing up. We didn't have a lot of money and the wii was one of the nicest things we had, even tho it had been around for a bit by the time I had enough cognitive function to understand how it works without help. I played MySims all the time as a kid. Well then the wii stopped working and I was devastated. So I was back to playing the bratz game and the hannah montana games like a fucking ninny. But then my mom surprised me with a game one day, not even on a holiday or my birthday. She got me MySims for the nintendo ds. I was shitting myself with excitement... until I turned on the game. I HATED IT, AND I STILL HATE THE DS VERSION OF MYSIMS, WHY IS IT SO DIFFERENT THAN THE WII ONE, HOW HARD IS IT TO MAKE IT AT LEAST MOSTLY SIMILAR. But that christmas we got a new wii given to us by a family brother. (he was left with it after his divorce and didn't want it anymore) and i HOGGED the wii for like 3 months playing nothing but MySims. And now it's coming to the switch so we're balling

Nothing makes me side with the bad guys more than good guys who say they're good but never actually do anything good, and going off of childhood me's memories, the games were just full of that.

While my first sims game was the gba version of sims bustin out, I really enjoyed the laidback pace of mysims. (Especially with needs being optional, because I really didn't like the red icon constantly reminding me to eat while doing a story quest.) Imo the ds version of agents is still the best in terms of story and customization options. (ds kingdom's synth-o-tron does NOT let you pick an object you haven't made and most of the time, manual will just give you a bulk of one item before getting that last item...) And despite the ds mysims franchise having its own characters, I still thinks its cute that some are mentioned in the wii games and acquantied with some of the popular characters. (But, I'm still not of fan of Tim's look in the wii version of agents lol) Mysims has a bit of the charm from the previous story driven games (bustin out, urbz, and the sims 2 gba/ds), before sims 4 decided to dump all their ideas into nothing but dlc. And while I was late to the mysims craze, I grew to appreciate the amount of effort that was put into these characters after replaying agents, kingdoms, and getting a used copy of mysims during this summer.
You covering all the MySims DS games, and now going through the Wii ones, is garnering more interest for the series! Thank you! Hopefully this video brings about a MySims DS Bundle!!!!
Even as a kid I thought the mysims ds games were so weird lmao 😂 I played the Wii version SO MUCH and preferred it by a lot. When even a small dumb child knows a game is wack that's when you know a game is actually wack 😂
There's a typo in one of the Sims games (Agents maybe? idk it's been way too long lol) and that was the first time I learned that media can be imperfect 🙃 no hate btw, I loved these games to death. I even bought the first one again recently bc I regretted selling it when I was younger

I loved and still adore the mysims series. Mysims ds was my favorite until I got a wii and got mysims kingdom with it. Mysims kingdom ds I didn't like because the mini games irritated me. I got that in high school 😅. I'm in the USA and gamestop had a UK version. I've never played mysims agents on ds but I liked the wii version. I don't care for mysims wii though.
I never found any of the other mysims interesting, i started with mysims agents and thats as far as it went as the others seemed to lack quality, i did enjoy the progressiveness of the game to be honest, and the characters where cute too, almost like an animal crossing/sims cross over lol

man i actually hated the MySims DS games as a kid 😭 I saw the commercials and they looked so cool but I didn’t have a Wii at the time- so I had to settle for the DS version and it was nothing like what I saw and all the characters were just so bitchy and horrible and I was just so disappointed. I never touched another MySims DS game after that. I still don’t know how I feel about them, but hey.
The juxtaposition of these is even more intense when you compare them to the Wii versions, like they're two entirely different genres of game even when with the same names Like MySims Kingdom on the Wii is an absolute banger, but the DS version is a travesty
I forgot all of these!! My little sibling had one of these for the Wii. I don't think we thought of them as Sims game in anything but name, but as a simple cute adventure game. I didn't play them myself, though.
I loooooooooooooved MySims and MySims Kingdom on DS but I knew I wouldn't like the rest of the MySims DS games so I didn't even bother trying to get them. But listen to me.......... Mysims Kingdom and MySims Agents on the Wii............... extremely EXTREMELY underrated games........................ please try them...................... in my top 5 Wii games for sure. If they adapted the Wii versions (or DS versions) of them for the Switch (they never will) I would play them all the time.
never played the DS games, but the Wii versions had me in a GRIP as a kid. Loved them, cool to see the other side. And I always wondered about the chibi style but it does make sense to have a low poly model due to having the DS ports.

This series feels almost like the Lego Island series. Just characters with specific personalities that change roles in each entry. But the villain is always the same, your friends are always the same, and your importance is always the same.
I went to GameStop as a kid and was looking for the sims, the sims 3 for the Wii but all they had was my sims, I didn’t know the difference, so I asked the worker and he tried to push me towards the animal crossing game instead and I went uhhh no I want the sims. Went home and hated it 😂 it bored me so much …

We didn't have a lot of money and the wii was one of the nicest things we had, even tho it had been around for a bit by the time I had enough cognitive function to understand how it works without help. I played MySims all the time as a kid. Well then the wii stopped working and I was devastated. So I was back to playing the bratz game and the hannah montana games like a fucking ninny. But then my mom surprised me with a game one day, not even on a holiday or my birthday. She got me MySims for the nintendo ds. I was shitting myself with excitement... until I turned on the game. I HATED IT, AND I STILL HATE THE DS VERSION OF MYSIMS, WHY IS IT SO DIFFERENT THAN THE WII ONE, HOW HARD IS IT TO MAKE IT AT LEAST MOSTLY SIMILAR. But that christmas we got a new wii given to us by a family brother. (he was left with it after his divorce and didn't want it anymore) and i HOGGED the wii for like 3 months playing nothing but MySims. And now it's coming to the switch so we're balling

Yeah racing had a lot of potential, but yeah probably creating your sim and customising the plane was the only good thing in skyheroes! i didnt know that?? nice that they didnt forget about mysims characters i guess DJ Candy is like the face of mysims or something tho?? the not being able to pause thing was my fault tbh hahaha the amount of self inflicted misery that game caused me was insane!!!

While my first sims game was the gba version of sims bustin out, I really enjoyed the laidback pace of mysims. (Especially with needs being optional, because I really didn't like the red icon constantly reminding me to eat while doing a story quest.)
Imo the ds version of agents is still the best in terms of story and customization options. (ds kingdom's synth-o-tron does NOT let you pick an object you haven't made and most of the time, manual will just give you a bulk of one item before getting that last item...)
And despite the ds mysims franchise having its own characters, I still thinks its cute that some are mentioned in the wii games and acquantied with some of the popular characters. (But, I'm still not of fan of Tim's look in the wii version of agents lol)
Mysims has a bit of the charm from the previous story driven games (bustin out, urbz, and the sims 2 gba/ds), before sims 4 decided to dump all their ideas into nothing but dlc. And while I was late to the mysims craze, I grew to appreciate the amount of effort that was put into these characters after replaying agents, kingdoms, and getting a used copy of mysims during this summer.

There's a typo in one of the Sims games (Agents maybe? idk it's been way too long lol) and that was the first time I learned that media can be imperfect 🙃 no hate btw, I loved these games to death. I even bought the first one again recently bc I regretted selling it when I was younger

I loved and still adore the mysims series. Mysims ds was my favorite until I got a wii and got mysims kingdom with it. Mysims kingdom ds I didn't like because the mini games irritated me. I got that in high school 😅. I'm in the USA and gamestop had a UK version. I've never played mysims agents on ds but I liked the wii version. I don't care for mysims wii though.

I never found any of the other mysims interesting, i started with mysims agents and thats as far as it went as the others seemed to lack quality, i did enjoy the progressiveness of the game to be honest, and the characters where cute too, almost like an animal crossing/sims cross over lol

man i actually hated the MySims DS games as a kid 😭 I saw the commercials and they looked so cool but I didn’t have a Wii at the time- so I had to settle for the DS version and it was nothing like what I saw and all the characters were just so bitchy and horrible and I was just so disappointed. I never touched another MySims DS game after that. I still don’t know how I feel about them, but hey.

I forgot all of these!! My little sibling had one of these for the Wii. I don't think we thought of them as Sims game in anything but name, but as a simple cute adventure game. I didn't play them myself, though.
I loooooooooooooved MySims and MySims Kingdom on DS but I knew I wouldn't like the rest of the MySims DS games so I didn't even bother trying to get them. But listen to me.......... Mysims Kingdom and MySims Agents on the Wii............... extremely EXTREMELY underrated games........................ please try them...................... in my top 5 Wii games for sure. If they adapted the Wii versions (or DS versions) of them for the Switch (they never will) I would play them all the time.

never played the DS games, but the Wii versions had me in a GRIP as a kid. Loved them, cool to see the other side. And I always wondered about the chibi style but it does make sense to have a low poly model due to having the DS ports.

Am I the only one who thinks that the design of these games is extremely similar to that one Enchanted Folk (who btw is also kind of an Animal Crossing rip-off)?
This series feels almost like the Lego Island series.
Just characters with specific personalities that change roles in each entry.
But the villain is always the same, your friends are always the same, and your importance is always the same.
This was such a nice trip down memory lane... Love this series. Genuinely sad it didn't last long.
I went to GameStop as a kid and was looking for the sims, the sims 3 for the Wii but all they had was my sims,
I didn’t know the difference, so I asked the worker and he tried to push me towards the animal crossing game instead and I went uhhh no I want the sims.
