  • Here comes the 80' truss install! In episode 3 of the building a large workshop with 2 guys series we finally tackle the 80' trusses. This is extremely difficult to do with only two guys, but just wait til the end of the video for some awesome drone shots of the completed structure.

It's great! My shed has been completed and it turned out nice looking and sturdy and it is way better than the sheds that many of my neighbors had put up. Of course, I'm pleased with the outcome and this Ryan's th-cam.com/users/postUgkxGZedDTcDfgD7fG_uU4esfx_EgxzlY2_1 Plans was extremely useful to me as a guide.

I'm building a 36' wide building by myself for the most part, but will be getting help for the trusses and roof tin. I'm trying to follow the @RR Buildings methodology for the entire build. Couldn't imagine doing an 80' truss! Should be fun 😊

Im 57yr old, my uncle (61yrs old) (yes we are that close in age!) bought a menards kit for a 32x64. we did it all ourselves after following hours and hours of Kyle's video's. It wasn't perfect but it all worked out and we saved a ton on labor costs. Yes it took longer but we learned and it was impressive learning and DOING what we learned! LOVED IT ALL!

I always called those scissor trusses. Here in Western Indiana those were used to accommodate bigger combines with bin extensions. Can make end wall doors taller than the sidewalls. The largest building my Dad put up they actually inverted two trusses and had poles down the center to anchor the ends at the peak. It was just used for storing corn but it’s still standing. Great job.

Taught me a whole lot about how the construction of a home works together. I’ve been able to build my own decks, small buildings and even do home repairs on my own without the need of a contractor. I was a beginner with about 10 total hours of actually building anything so needless to say i referenced these videos at about every step. The wall-steel layout and trimming around windows were the biggest crucial helpers. Proud to say i did beginning layout to now putting up the final pieces of tin on my own. All i had help with was setting the trusses and the roof panels. These vids are priceless...they're worth the 8 grand+/- in savings doing it myself and the skills and lessons learned I'll have forever which is the priceless part. Just thought I'd share. Good luck man!💪🇺🇸

It's been slow going. Between my full time job, vacations, daylight savings and unexpected issues I'm further behind then I expected. The frame is almost complete and by the end of next week the soffit/roof should be finally completed. Shop is 40x60, but once the lean-to portions are complete it will be 60x60. I have learned SO MUCH, mostly of what NOT to do next time. It's been extremely valuable to learn from these mistakes, I expect the next one to be much smoother as someone has already requested I build them one after this one. Remodeling has been my side gig for a few years now, I hope in the next six months that construction will be my full time job.

1988 right after I graduated my first pole building was 90 by 180. Trusses were built on site. Today everything is 6x8 and 8x8 posts at least in Washington State. Back then we were allowed 6x6 most pool buildings were 2x3-ft holes but on the 90 by 180 they were 3 ft by 6 ft several several yards of concrete. We didn't have near then ice equipment you guys had we had ladders a piece of s*** flatbed truck with a scaffold on it and a piece of s*** trust truck LOL lots of busted knuckles and black fingers on that job. That's a nice size shop I love it.

Man you guys get a ton done with just two guys. Impressive. Just this past week I watched an Amish crew set trusses on a 66x106 building. 1 crane, 1 ground guy, and 6 guys on the building setting the truss and doing purlins as the trusses came up and were set. 4 hours from start to finish. We'll see how the fit and finish is on this building but I can almost guarantee it won't be near the quality as one of your buildings. I do enjoy seeing you take your time with all the quality finishing details you do automatically as part of your buildings. Its definitely what sets you and your buildings apart from the rest. Keep up the awesome work sir.

We are allowed to use a 6' ladder in the box of a scissor lift if the rails are all up to give a bit more height. It helps us access compartments and such through tiny holes, may not apply in your case of needing a bit more height to hammer some nails in.

I have a 3 man crew and we build post frame of this size. Every time we build one I say I'm never going that big again. But I always end up coming back and building another.... Todays farm equipment is just to large these days and needs bigger and bigger buildings. Im gonna start a 72'x144'x18' about a month. We will be using the sturdy wall post brackets wet set in a poured wall instead of the columns for this one. Fully heated concrete floor. When we set trusses we pick up the whole stack at once and lean them up against a semi van body trailer. You just drive up hook em and go. But I also go 4' centers with single ply trusses. That way when I come back to hang a metal ceiling I can just screw right to the bottom of the trusses. Ware I'm at everyone wants large insolated fully steel lined shops these days.

The best thing about these builds is seeing the tradesman tricks that make the job easier. When I build I'm using these. Cheers lads xxx

To jump in Greg and your conversation about the "I'm not going to lie" expression, I look at it as, I'm not expected to lie and my intention isn't to lie for some type of gain but I might lie for someone else's sake or to not be a burden or to be that guy but if I thought it mattered I would say "I'm not going to lie" I don't like what everyone else likes, I'm sorry to be that guy.
Thought I would share that since I always feel like I'm actually part of the crew and work day when I watch your videos. Love it

I hate two manning one guy gets 1000 and the other guy gets 10000 for the same amount of work unless they are splitting but that doesn't happen much at least I don't see it happening much actually in 20 years framing I've never seen it unless they were partners and that never lasts long

My boss and I built a 80'x150' truck shop 2 years ago the owner installed floor heat and 20 wells for geo thermal heat I talked to him after his first winter and he said it only cost $65 per month to heat that big building. And last year we did a $600,000 home then he decided to retire but I learned many things from him. He had a custom truss lifting system it was like a cherry picker A frame for the tellahandler then a single chain to a big pipe and then a chain on each end of the pipe.
