Timely!!! I’ve been echoing the same to my athletes for years. It just makes sense to have at least two pairs of throwing shoes even in dry weather - every throwing surface is different. And as long as it’s not lightning, snowing, or icing- we throw! Thanks for the sound advice.
Another tip I was told by a old national discus thrower was that if you throw the disk in rainy weather, you'll notice it doesn't really slip, but it does the opposite and sticks, and when you release it, it just looks like you chucked it. He told me to actually lick my fingers, and it works! I'm not sure how, but it really does.

I threw disc in the rain. If your shoes and ring are both soaked, you dont tend to slip. I kept my disc dry and still threw 140s+
I had to throw yesterday and it was really wet and slippery but I had some really good throws
