    I'm a physics and mathematician, so I'm familiar with the trebuchet and how it actually works. The secret of the trebuchet is that it uses the centrifugal force on the payload to add to the angular velocity of the rotation with a tremendous gain in velocity and distance upon release. Any resistance at the point where the arm connects to the sling will cut into the distance, that is, the shoulder must be kept as loose as possible. Think of it this way: You are not pushing the shot in front of you, you are pulling it from behind you.

    @3:21 I can’t get over this, when I throw it completely flat I feel a powerful punch, but when I throw it at a good angle I feel absolutely nothing in my arm

    Thank you for the content!...Do you follow a year long plan that’s been scripted out by Martin or are you throwing based on what you feel is needed? What are your progressions with heavy/lighter implements and when do you switch to competition weight? Thanks!

      Daniel W pretty much everything right now is just based on what my body can do throwing wise. The biggest thing I need to to is just stick to martins lifting plan for sets and reps to keep me from peaking too early

    I was trying to analyze your technique to see if I could help you out. About halfway through the video it hit me like a semi truck. I couldn't believe I didn't see it right away. The single biggest thing you have to overcome is that you're throwing with the wrong arm.......

    Hey jy, how many throws should i get in during practice? I usually just go until im too tired and my form breaks down but i dont know if thats too much or too little

    • @LifeofJY
      @LifeofJY  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s probably about the perfect way to do it. But you also need to know why your form is breaking down and if it’s from fatigue or just a technical issue. But yeah if you’re physically exhausted and are no longer working good positions then that’s a good time to shut it down. But if it’s meet season you also want to consider not going until complete fatigue just to keep your nervous system firing and don’t crush it from too many throws

    glide technique 37 degrees with 900 lb power squat? EL Shottputter

  • @Rack979
    @Rack979 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    45 degrees is too high, the flat throw is probably closer to the best throw than the high throw. You have to take into account the release point of the shot being higher than the landing point, and also biomechanics in addition to the physics/mechanics. Here's just one study on the matter: arxiv.org/abs/1007.3689

    Do you think it's hard to increase a PR by like 7ft in 2 weeks? I do glide technique btw.

    • @LifeofJY
      @LifeofJY  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yibr depends how inefficient your current technique is. If everything finally comes together with adrenaline you never know what you will get for prs. But for already technically efficient technique that would be a big jump in 2 weeks

    • @scarelo7935
      @scarelo7935 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LifeofJY Yeah my technique is finally coming together and I think that I can do it but I just need that adreniline and I need to get rid of the nervousness that I get before I throw.

    What is a good throw for a jr. high boy in shot put and discus?

    • @LifeofJY
      @LifeofJY  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tad Dimmitt considering that’s around when most people start learning just having an implement in your hand at that age is good. Throwers don’t peak until around 30+ years old. the distance that young is irrelevant in the long run you just want to start to feel things. I honestly couldn’t tell you what’s a good distance at that age because I didn’t start until highschool but you can look online for junior high meet results and see what people have typically thrown in the past. Keep in mind there’s usually 1-5 guys in the country that are just killing it because they have amazing coaching and the rest of people are the “average” good throw. Just don’t let those top couple people that are insane at a young age ever discourage you.

    Hey I'm a freshman in highschool and this is my first year doing shotput and I ended the season just yesterday,do you have any tips?I've been watching you for awhile now, you have shown so much to me through videos it's crazy, but this is the first time I'm commenting...

    • @LifeofJY
      @LifeofJY  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      -IKO- #TORAH I appreciate the comment! After my season I like to de stress a little and not worry about training so I’ll take like a week to 2 week break before I get back into training. If you want to throw far, you need to throw a lot so keep working and just work positions and strength in the off season
