Is there value to stepping out of the circle as you are drilling or throwing? I wonder if it is setting up the muscle memory to do so, which will make for big mistakes in competition with foot fouls. I just want to know if there is a positive way to look at it that helps the athlete or if it is just a matter of working it out of the system.
Robert Willmott I do it because I know I can go into a meet and I’m not worried about fouling. The extra energy required to save throws that I’m off balance isn’t worth it to me in practice. I just try to work better positions then if everything is lined up I’ll stay in. But I also know in a meet if I’m off balance and falling out I can back off and keep it in. It’s good to practice staying in the circle and learning how to counter your body to keep it in. But for me I don’t need to learn those lessons anymore I need to perfect positions so that my center of mass isn’t shifting and throwing me outside the ring at all in the first place.
@@LifeofJY which makes an incredible amount of sense for an experienced athlete. I have had athletes say to me.. "I watched this video and he does this or that..he is awesome.. I should do it that way!" Now my eyes are seeing the things that validate what I am hoping to show them..but they are seeing what validates theirs.. Fun cycle. I appreciate how well informed and relatable your videos are. Thank you!
I was loving my progress made on disc one day cause I had been concentrating on shot. Then I go back to shot right after and my shot spin was so out of whack cause I got used to the longer step used in disc. 😅🤷♂️😡
I like to think of the "energy chain" out of the back as if you were going to do a vertical leap while taking a step into it. If you dont allow yourself to fully load, you wont be able to jump high. Love the vids man
Cj Davis it is calloused now so not much of an issue, but yes. Before it becomes calloused it will blister and cut from throwing. And occasionally if I’m not careful it can get too big and rip off. So I try to make sure I shave the callouses on my hand down before they get too big with a razor blade. Just something to consider because it can mess up a few days of training if it rips off.
Nice video. Could you please record your throws in a different angle. Would be interesting to see your arm at the end of the throw. I Always have this impression you throw in your rotation and you don't push enough forward. Your Belgium fan
The arms can be in a better position. But a lot of that will come from a more vertical position in the middle with my body and keeping the disc with me out of the back. Those fixes should have the disc looking like it’s in a better position.
This is a woefully underrated channel
How much throw should do in off season sir.

Does your fingertip skin ever peel off or bruise/cut from discus?

Better than john bowman lol
John is doing OK if you're a beginner this is if you're a more intermediate to advanced thrower that knows a thing or two

Laurent Duthoo yeah I can record some from the side next time
I’m not an expert but for discus wouldn’t you have to lift your arm up a little higher?

Can you make please a video about glide
I can maybe do something eventually. But I spin so that will be pretty much all content always.
