Incredible first shown on BBC2 1983, recorded by myself on VHS Panasonic video in those days, listened many times over, what a success rags / dole to riches ....
This was UB40 at its best. The band was still fresh with a drummer being creative without using all that digital shit he used later on and good songs with good lyrics which made the difference during the time I grew up.
Thanks for posting this online I was at this UB40 gig at the Hammersmith Odeon.I when with my mates Ian and Neil. Very good gig and a great night out. Nice One One Love Peace ☮.

Yep great gig... I was there right at the back upstairs and I mean right at the very back lol!! Wish they showed on the video the encore version of Madame Medusa as it was heavy.....
Darren Smith great memories! I was high up in the back seats unfortunately, so wasn’t near the stage. Wish I could remember who supported them that night, and kept my concert ticket!! So glad to have found this video, as no one had mobiles in audiences back then!
Alison Bond Stansfield might have been aswad and same as you at the back. Seeing them again in May twice. And got tickets for Ali Campbell in April next year. Can't believe it was 35 years ago
Darren Smith I don’t think it was Aswad, but I could be wrong. I’ve seen them numerous times over the years, last time was 02 London April ‘16. I going to get tix for April ‘19 too, you got yours already, thought the sale starts tomorrow 10am?! Nice going though, May and next April! 🙌
Nice to see everybody upstairs on the balcony up on their feet, yes boss, irie..... :-) Watched this more than any other piece of film....! Shame it cuts at the end, but thanks for putting it up!!! :-)
I was there. UB40 at there best but such a shame of the split up. I was never a great fan of Labour of Love but these tunes just prove UB40 can produce great material of their own.
Hermoso todos, que bueno si volvieran a unirse los hermanos, toda la banda , todos juntos , sumados a los que Ali tiene hoy, Winston Delandro , Matt Hoy, todos!!!
Nothing wrong with old skool Cleave, you look pretty old skool but I bet you feel pretty relevant in today's world. A lot of old skool music is timeless, I guess I should throw out my "Legends" album by Bob and "Funky Kingston" by Toots. That music is so much better than a lot of the pop factory stuff coming out now. I'm not a music geezer and hate everything new but nothing wrong with this band at all and they still put on a great live show.
Well said. I was fortunate enough to see Bob Marley in concert in 1981, about 6 months before he died. I also saw UB40 in 1983. In the late 70's and early 80's there was left-wing protest songs about the evils of Thatcher, and unemployment. Todays music is all about self indulgence, and gang culture. Nothing positive, or meaningful?
You’re absolutely right, they did sell out. Labour of Love was the start of it. I’ve followed them from the start as a 17 year old in 1980. Their music was very political and had strong roots in Jamaican dub. Madam Medusa was anti Margret Thatcher and her anti working class policies. I went to this concert and was disappointed about the lack of old stuff.
I'm the one in millions who still listens to that track on a regular basis I bet. Cheers for this.👍
I’m 55 years old I wish I would have seen them at the San Diego sports Arena in the early 80s they rock. 91X.
Incredible first shown on BBC2 1983, recorded by myself on VHS Panasonic video in those days, listened many times over, what a success rags / dole to riches ....
Im 52 and I will check them out with my kids.
RIP Astro

2 SAXOPHONES !!!! 🎷🎷I WHISH YOU LONG LIVE BRIAN TRAVERS WITH BIG BALS !!!
why the split up mi love dem
Damn that may even have been 81, i know he'd just come off a tour with The Clash
14:58 que grito más hermoso
UB40 need I say anymore
Does anyone know the title of the opening instrumental tune? 🕊️
Astro always using a instrument that no one can even hear think of all the money he’s made just by 2 stepping and singing 3 word in each song
not bad for a band that was formed in an unemployment queue.
Ich liebe Ali seine stimme, aber Robin kann es auch
sorry over 30 years
nuts but good
So instead of giving Astro some more of this, you was giving him a whole heap of that! :D :D
Just joking, not jealous............ Much! :)

'SIGNING OFF' ALBUM LIVE! '81 UK ->>> th-cam.com/video/rbrs3ulnW_I/w-d-xo.html R I P Astro * Bless *
Pessimo incompleto
These guys sold out. This all sounds so commercial, tame and crap. They were 5 - star at the beginning.
Absolute rubbish you are talking!
This is the beginning you fool.
