    Thumbs up for a beautiful machine! Interestingly I am waiting for delivery of RNineT (2022) having been an ex Speed Twin owner. For me the R9T wins because of character or Boxer (is feels so special) and NO CHAIN!

    Good review. I had an R nine T for a year I agree with you about the seat, being uncomfortable. I bought a Roland Sands bench seat which was a lot better. then standard. I loved the bike but could not get on with the ergonomics of the bike. Just never was able to get comfortable on the bike.
    But I loved the looks of the bike how it went. The engine was lovely. Keep on enjoying your bike and I look forward to your next video.

      Thanks very much. I agree that it's not the most comfortable machine out there - in fact, I could ride my previous Street Triple for hours without discomfort - but it's just so bloody lovely to look at and it goes so beautifully. I may well look at aftermarket seat options.

    Local family run seat trimmer that I have used and can recommend as per my comments in your 500 mile review. Huke Trimmers, Lower Gade Farm Dagnall Rd, Great Gaddesden, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 3BP. I can recommend the duel foam for comfort. They will make it to your spec, colour, shape etc just pop in and have a chat.

    • @GuyOnaBikeMotovlog
      @GuyOnaBikeMotovlog 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very hard to say, Thomas, as the two bikes are both superb and not dissimilar in terms of power and delivery/output. To my mind it comes down to two things if we ignore issues relating to brand loyalty, respective costs, etc - ergonomics and stying.

  • @gzk6nk

    Since you seemed very pleased with the sound of the twin cans originally fitted as standard to the bike, what made you change to the single can exhaust?

    • @GuyOnaBikeMotovlog
      @GuyOnaBikeMotovlog 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good point, and two reasons for the change. Firstly, I liked the idea of shedding quite a large amount of weight; and secondly, the smaller end can really does open up the whole of the rear end.

    Curious what’s your favorite naked type bike or retro type bike as it concerns comfort only. The R9T is very uncomfortable for me in general. I’m 6’ tall.

    • @GuyOnaBikeMotovlog
      @GuyOnaBikeMotovlog 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it's not the best ergonomically for me either. My experience of nakeds includes the Street Twin, Street Triple, Monster 821 (long test ride), Speed Twin (long test ride) and Thruxton. The Street Twin was probably the most comfortable, and I suspect the Speed Twin would have been right up there with it had I bought it. The R9T is probably bottom of the list for comfort, although not when first sitting on it... after an hour or so, though..

  • @chrisrader8547
    @chrisrader8547 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    It’s interesting to watch your review of this bike and then listen to your observations on the Thruxton R that you later replaced it with. Ergonomics are one of those things that you tell yourself won’t matter much, but after a time, they’re ALL that matters. I just bought a 2017 Thruxton R and it came down to a choice between that, and the R9T Racer, which is gorgeous to look at. Simply stunning. However, there were not-so-quiet rumblings about the seat and the reach to the bars.. 25 year old me would have said it was worth it for a bike that looked that good. 48 year old me tamped down that irrational exuberance and went with the Triumph. I still think the BMW is a looker. But I feared I’d pay thousands for something that I just “looked at” because my rear end couldn’t stand to be on it for long periods of time. It stinks to get older and get all practical. 😄

    • @GuyOnaBikeMotovlog
      @GuyOnaBikeMotovlog 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm with you 100%, and it was weird that - whilst the TTR has a more aggressive stance - I immediately found it more comfortable (for me, at least) than the R9T. In your case, of course, you were pitting it against a model that was always considered to be inherently uncomfortable.
      I should probably add that I've just gone the whole hog (excuse the pun) and now have a Harley-Davidson Sport Glide. It's literally all-day comfortable, and is an absolute torque monster. Which reminds me, I need to start posting again!

    • @rushy67rr97
      @rushy67rr97 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Other way for me, having owned a Thruxton R and now ridden the R Nine T the BMW is a better bike IMHO. Thruxton is more uncomfortable on longer journeys, tank is too small I was always in the petrol station, it spins up too quick, hits the Rev limiter and then runs out of poke before you know it, clocks were prone to misting up, header pipes discolour badly and the modes are useless, leave it in Sport. I’d say it’s the prettier of the two, gearbox is lovely but for me the BMW has more character and shaft drive with the recent inclusion of Cruise Control tip the balance towards the R Nine T...nice review, very informative, subscribed 👍🏻
