Beutiful Reef! I’m really surprised the growth he’s getting with only 3 Hydra 👍. That’s great that his Dad was able to build him such a great gift before he left.

That is an incredible setup. I'm just getting into the hobby. I have a 130 gl. I sit and watch my fish swim, and my wife records me just sitting by the tank lol.

Deven, the tank is beautiful. Very clean set up. Excellent rock scape where he’s got plenty of room for Corals and swim Throughs for the fish. That stand his father built his rock solid. Very heart felt. Thanks for the tour

Really nice tank and built. Similar size to mine, hope I’ll get to something like this in time. (Mine is new.) I live in an apartment but I really can see the benefits of living in a house giving space for gear-cupboards in another room and a water-changing-area in the garage. Great and well tought through.
Totally agree, getting your significant other interested is a game changer…

Beautiful tank. the stand and the light fixture looks amazing and really makes this look like a piece of furniture that belongs in that spot. As a water box guy myself this makes me want to go custom for the next one

Easily the best reef/tank I've ever seen. It's my favorite and will be an inspiration when I redo my rock work in my 25 Lagoon.
You really nailed it! Thank you for featuring it! If love to see more tank visits
    Especially the rock work

I took my 170 gallon down 5 months ago because I was chasing impossible problems ever since the 8 tube lamp fell in. I was going to sell it but not at 5 cents on the dollar so here we go again. Now that I have all of the patience and time, I also realized that I have really become out of shape. Diving under the cabinet is not an easy task anymore. I polished up the stainless steel stand, changed all the hinges, everything is cleaned and ready to install and the sump partitions are drying as I type. Bulkheads are in and plumbing comes today. Unfortunately, my Sherpa is not here today.

I like this tank more than others that are just stacked to the gills with coral. This one has a bit more open space which is nice.

@reefdudes so did he remove the fish during the ich outbreak to eradicate or does he just control it now with the uv?

Basically summed-up: reef & saltwater is not for those on a strict budget. I remember as a kid, my dad bought me a hundred-gallon. Working-on a farm, I used the money every weekend going to various pet stores(even purchased some anemones 400 miles away during a Summer trip), and collecting for the reef tank. Used a diatom filter a couple-times a week & a undergravel filter(anyone know today what those are?). Could purchase live coral, anemones, shrimp, fish, all under twenty dollars. Today, setting-up such an aquarium, and yearly maintenance, would be more than my mortgage payments. A cheap, educational hobby, is now for the wealthy only.
