    You forgot to mention that there's an ES mastery "10% less physical damage taken at full ES", since all damage you take bypass your ES as long as you don't spend it you can have permanent uptime on that as well.

    One thing worth mentioning is you cannot convert damage taken as twice. So, for example, if you have 8% of phys damage taken as lightning while having both Mahuxotl + Divine Flesh, incoming phys damage will still be converted to lightning, not half chaos and fire. This means that phys taken as cold and phys taken as lightning is build bricking if you're using the Mahuxotl + Divine Flesh combo. You tend to have negative cold and lightning res in those situations and phys damage will quickly kill you.

    Also very usefull for Doryani's prototype to mitigate lightning damages (and most importantly lightning DoT)
    [doryani's prototype makes nearby enemies have lightning resistance equal to yours; lightning resistance does not mitigate lightning damages (from hits?); armour also applies to lightning damages from hits]
    Since the goal is to reach -200% lightning res, any lightning dot will instant kill you (Syndicate operative red rays, shaper beam, mana siphon on rares...), and getting half of the damages redirected to chaos where you have 80% res will pretty much give a 50% damage reduction.
    For hits, it allows armour to be much more effective, as you explained in the video, since only half the amount of damage is mitigated by armour.
    Otherwise, great vid and great serie!

    Fun video. Wondering if this could possibly be used in an RF build to further increase its tankiness

    • @dreamcore_gg
      @dreamcore_gg  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yep, when you run RF, 50% of the self damage is taken as chaos damage so you can scale chaos resistance instead to maintain RF.

    • @ArawnOfAnnwn
      @ArawnOfAnnwn ปีที่แล้ว

      In addition to the above, if you can maintain leech all the time, then you can make RF actually heal you by wearing Tainted Pact amulet and having lower chaos resistance than fire resistance. So you take more chaos damage over time than fire damage over time, and that chaos damage over time is converted into more healing than the fire damage is hurting you for. It's a very finicky thing to maintain though, and imo not worth it as it weakens the defense of the keystone, but it is funny interaction that's possible.

    • @dreamcore_gg

      Well, energy shield leech is capped by default at 10% of total ES per second. With Mahuxotl's though you have energy shield leech based on life leech from Immortal Ambition while your life is full, so it should enable instant leech to cap it fairly easily.

  • @phinguyen6399
    @phinguyen6399 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sir can you explain to me again about the damage mitigation?
    For example: I took 100 physical damage. The armor applies and reduces the damage. My armor is high and good enough for damage mitigation, so why should I shift it to another type of damage prevention ( like chaos ) if the other types are worse ( lower than 75% for elementals and lower than 30% for chaos res )

    • @dreamcore_gg
      @dreamcore_gg  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So, if you have no armour or other methods of mitigating physical damage, you'll want to shift that damage into another damage type. However, the examples in the video are for if you are using Divine Flesh with other combination mechanics such as The Fourth Vow, or the Armour & ES mastery which applies 10% of your armour to chaos damage taken from hits.
      In the case of The Fourth Vow, you want to shift as much physical damage to be taken as chaos damage as possible because it is strictly better, since that damage will be mitigated by chaos resistance and then by full armour mitigation. In the case where you are using the Armour & ES mastery, or lets say you don't have any combination mechanics - it's still of benefit to shift the physical damage you take because by shifting the damage, you lower the damage that you actually take, improving your armour application reduction whilst heavily mitigating the portion that is shifted.
      You have 20000 armour and take a hit of 1000 physical damage. Armour mitigates 80% of the damage, and you take 200 physical damage. If you had 26% phys taken as chaos(10% mastery, 10% delve mod, 6% eldritch implicit) with Divine Flesh(80% chaos resistance), you'd take 260 damage as chaos damage and 740 damage as physical damage. The 260 chaos damage is mitigated by chaos resistance, so you take 52 chaos damage. Armour mitigates 84% of the physical damage, and you take 118 physical damage, for a total of 170 damage.
      On top of the above example, you can add things like the Armour & ES mastery, Fourth Vow etc. to further improve mitigation. As hits get larger, the armour application reduces less and less damage, and shifting damage taken becomes more and more useful.

    • @dreamcore_gg
      @dreamcore_gg  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You don't need to have something like DF, it's just a strong mechanic to utilise. To be fair, the game was very different in the time when it was nerfed. Many things have changed since then, including things like passive tree masteries, eldritch implicits on gear, and chaos resistance implicits being buffed. Also, many defensive options have been added, and players enjoy building more defensively because it's actually a thing now. Back then, defenses were still limited even at the high end, so most builds(in SC) would just build glass cannon because defensive investment wasn't nearly as impactful as it is now.
