I just broke out my last pair of Clifton 7s from my closet! LOL! Good to know the 9 is keeping up the quality! I guess I'll jump right over V8! Thanks Steven!
After a bunch of Cliftons, my road shoe is now the Arahi. So while, your video is awesome as usual, I was more more focused on how you were rocking that sun hoodie..lol. Had to order me one! I guess I'm going to have to go out and do hard things!
the thing is,this clifton 9 has wide version, and it was heaven for me,the size 9.5 on wide version fits me nicely and comfortably,i love this and got mine in the same colorway as the video, especially for it's price 100% worth it
Great review, Steven! I’m enjoying the 8’s right now, and I totally get what you mean when describing the upper on the 8’s. Had to laugh when you mentioned speed work in the Clifton’s -I did some “tempo” work in the 8’s a week or so ago and got a nasty blister on my left big toe. So this shoe is strictly easy runs/recovery days for me!
I have got to say the Clifton 9 is an awesome every day shoe, it can pretty much do it all. Run, walk through airport terminals and anything in between. I find the fit perfect, snug and has good good feedback in the midsole. It’s a cloud feel without being too squishy
Pretty much agree with you as regards the Clifton 9s. However, I have done less than 20 miles in them so far. That said, they've been a delight so far and they impress me as being faster shoes than the Clifton 8s, which I reckon I will be wearing for another 60-to-90 miles. I alternate them, mostly, with Mach 5s and Carbon x3s.
@@UltraTrailSteven I ran in the 8’s today. And like you shared they are so much more snugged! Guess I haven’t broken in my 9’s yet. They’re so comfortable. With the 8’s I don’t dislike them I just sense as I ran in them something is slightly missing.
@@Charles-kc2vt EVERY reviewer??????? "PERFORMANCE David: The Hoka Clifton 9 still feels like a Clifton, though it does have some noticeable updates. The shoe does have 2 more millimeters of foam underfoot with an updated midsole. The foam is still EVA-based but has been dialed in for a little more resilience. I will say that though it is slight, there a noticeable change in feeling. The shoe does seem to have a little more bounce than previous Clifton's I have tried...The outsole seems to be a touch thicker than I remember on the Clifton 8. This seems to FIRM up the ride a tad and make the cushioning feel nearly identical with the 8. That's not a bad thing though since you get a tad more bounce.
My Foamwell insole compressed in just a week of use th-cam.com/video/mJOX3Z61xp4/w-d-xo.html nothing like the former Ortholite insole in previous HOKA’s this is a bad change, they are lighter with Foamwell but no durability in my use. Great comparison Steven. Sounds like there were only minimal changes to an already good shoe. I always love your honest commentary.
Absolutely. The Clifton line is one of Hoka's best selling flagship shoes. Just need a few refinements, and they nailed it. Thanks as always!
I have the Clifton 8 and they are really good, but I can wait to get the Clifton 9. Great review, thank you so much.
I think you will really like the 9’s then! Thanks!
Thnaks for being honest and not sugar-coating the clifton 9. good job bruh!
Thanks! Always honest!
I truly love your videos! So honest and encouraging!
Thank you so much!

Nice, Paul! The 9's feel a lot better than the 8s.

Haha nice! The hoodie shirt is my favorite shirt so far. So comfortable! Thank you!
I'm looking at this being my everyday shoe as I'm on my feet all day as a Remedial Massage Therapist. Thanks for the review
They would work great for that! Thanks for watching!
Nice review, I will be using mine while bass fishing. I'll probably be in shock coming out of some three year old New Balances.
@@patrickgazzara3992 I bought the Clifton 9s but the 2E one as I have wide feet. Very comfy so far

Haha yeah the 8 is snug.
The 9’s 2E being a true wide width with the better toebox is a game changer
Yep!
I just bought Clifton 8 since this was my first Hoka and was on sale.
Awesome!
The original Clifton one was my favorite shoe of all time…left the model at version 4….you might have talked me in to giving them a shot again
It's worth a shot. This Clifton 9 is really nice!
Why not you gotts nada para perder

is the shoe quiet?

Which do you prefer overall with how the shoe performs in later miles?
Clifton 9 for sure.

What does the “D” mean behind the size? Is “D” the normal shoe width ?
Correct. D is normal width.
@@UltraTrailSteven Appreciate it. These are my first pair of runners. First time ever seeing a letter behind the shoe size lol
I hope you enjoy them!@@zureai
My Hoka 9s also weighed in at 10.1 ounces and my Clifton 8s are 9.6 ounces.
Good to hear my readings were correct too then.
are the 8s or 9s more quiet? i'm looking for a shoe for Booming sound. so i need quiet shoes i can stand in for long periods of time.
They have the same rubber compound, so the same noise level n
I've heard it's gotten firmer. If so, that's Bondi-ish, and no bueno. v8 is very good.
Not at all. Feels much more cushioned than the 8.
@@UltraTrailSteven You're the first I've heard say it's more cushioned. I've heard firmer and more responsive.
I have seen several folks say it feels more cushioned. Either way, I love them!

Awesome! Thanks!
Would you say these would be ideal for someone who has flat feet?
I think they would work. I have fairly flat feet and they feel comfortable.
Hey is it still really narrow at the arch?
No, it is a little bit wider than the 8.
Today I was weighing the kittens and they weigh within about an ounce of these shoes. 😆
Hahahaha
If I’m a 9.5 in a Clifton 8 should I be a 9.5 in the Clifton 9?
Yea I think so.
