    Great review! Just ordered a pair today to keep me toes warm/dry this winter here in New England. I was putting shipping tape on the inside of my regular Cliftons to keep the cool air out 😂

      haha shipping tape! These should be much better!

    I bought salomon snow cross for runninig in winter season but the sole was hard for me then I was looking for different shoes.
    There is no review about clifton9 GTX in Japan so this is very helpful channel!
    Thank you !!

    Just received my speedgoat5s GTX spike, very excited to try them out. I also have the Saucony endorphin speed 3 with run shield that I am looking forward to testing. I may have to check out the Clifton 9GTX

      @@rorialvarez7913 I never tried the Clifton GTX but compared to the SG5 it is a bit different. Not as cushy, more rigid and the fit is not the same. For ice/snow packed trails its the best but know it is a different feel from the SG5

    Can understand a Challenger Goretex and certainly a speedgoat goretex, but I think Hoka is stretching it a bit with this one. You'll probably see it discounted heavily by the end of the year.

      I have had quite a few people ask me about winter road running shoes. I think these may actually do pretty well for Hoka. We will see though.

      @@UltraTrailSteven I hear ya, but for me if I was wearing a goretex shoe I'd want a grippier outsole. And a less rigid overall shoe as well. The bend you showed said to me it wasn't going to be very nimble.

      @WindKid22 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have the challenger 7 gtx. Shoe is narrow as well. It's tight on the front of the feet as well. I need a wide. Does hoka make any gortex in wide?

    • @WindKid22
      @WindKid22 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Does it need more time to break it in? I only wore it once so far. I'm thinking if I should return them or if the challenger 9 gtx is better in this case.

    I bought these shoes for work. I am a driver for UPS. They are amazing. I love them and Hoka. But after 34 days the bottoms started coming off. I do walk 8miles a day with a ton of stairs and hills, but barely lasting a little over a month is crazy. They allowed me send them back and get another pair so I'm hoping it was just that previous pair.

    Hello Steven
    I watched both videos, Clifton 9 gtx and Challenger 7 gtx, if you were to compare them in terms of durability, strength life, mileage, which one is # 1, what would you recommend to anyone when choosing between these two?

    • @UltraTrailSteven
      @UltraTrailSteven  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      They are basically the same shoe, except the Challenger 7 GTX has lugs for trail use. Both are the same compound of rubber too. Should last about the same. If you will use them for trails, get the Challenger 7 GTX

      Well, those are completely different options. For road running in the summer, absolutely the Clifton 9. For trail running in the summer, absolutely the Challenger 7. GTX would be for a winter shoe in my mind.

    Would these be to hot for Florida, heading there for a couple of weeks, looks like alot of rain. Don't want to sweat in 80 degrees but wanted gortex. If not these anything else you could recommend that may be more breathable.. Thanks

    • @UltraTrailSteven
      @UltraTrailSteven  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Any goretex shoe is going to be hot in Florida, and likely cause your feet to sweat. I would recommend a normal pair of shoes.
