You definitely want the dci box installed. That was the first mod i did, immediately gave me 2mph higher top speed and 2mph more hill coimb speed. I have yet to inatall my intake, jet and exhaust.
@lostonestogether yeah I took the course, got two bikes, a rebel 1100 DCT and traded the Ruckus for the 2024 ADV 160 when it released a few month later.
I’m think of going with the Polini Hi-Speed Variator, Dr. Pulley 5.5 Gram 16×13 slider Weights, and the NCY CDI for $206.00 I don’t really want to mess with an intake or exhaust.
I added the EVI with performance ignition which is plug & play. Slider weights are basically a weight issue at curb weight which includes Rider, bags etc..... Below 180 - 5.5grams, 180-200 5.25/5grams above 200-215 4.75, above 215 4.5grams. To realize any speed improvement for top speed, it is necessary to exceed 8850rpms. Without a stage 2 kit which is increased air flow requiring intake/exhaust & rejet all 3 jets, with mine at 225 added to curb weight (210 me-rear carrier, 2 bags & a cable & lock) my top end speed is 44mph & normal cruise at 41/42. Rolling Wrench is where I bought the EVI & my kill switch still works. What was really great was this advanced ignition timing & provided a performance ignition all while eliminating the Rev Limiter. I have no issues with it. You may consider the NCY variator & NCY drive face plus a new kevlar belt. I have the Polini but am buying the NCY next then comparing results from both. But I am also located at sea level zero hot humid climate which also can change variator slider weight sizing. A tach is essential for tuning purposes. Another tip: run only non-ethanol gas & add a teaspoon (1oz) of Octane Booster. This will not increase top speed but will definitely increase performance in wind & uphill. I like the Royal Purple but others swear by STP.
Did you reset the throttle position sensor? I hade some weird bogging issues and idle issues until I found out about that. look for the service port in the battery box and run a wire from the service port to the positive Lead on the battery, until the light blinks and then remove it and the light should blink again. Solved my issue, hope that helps.
For sure ! I installed the rolling wrench evi brain and I was so confused on why I was bogging out so bad… when I did the reset , my ruckus is kicking ass now ! I commute in San Diego about 20 miles ! Ride safe bro !
That "Pop" sound is the Rev Limiter. It's to protect the engine from over revving and blowing your engine.

@lostonestogether I think I went with the NCY one, but to be honest I traded the Ruckus in for a Honda ADV 160 after a few months.

I’d recommend going with the nay CDI first before anything then go from there

Thanks brotha! I’m gonna have to look into that! I appreciate it !
