Excellent presentation Dr. Bleiker! The power of play is well articulated as the arena in which children's semiotic functioning flourishes to construct mathematical knowledge.
Honestly, you should see what Montessori, Reggia Emilia and Waldorf are doing. What you show us has been done way better ever since these and other schools have been around for somany years.
I've never seen a Montessori school in a low income neighborhood. These parents mist likely aren't even sure what it is. What they have available are programs like Headstart. I've never seen anything about those expensive programs trying to work with low income preschools. Those kids are his target. Montessori and similar programs want you to pay for their products and services. They don't market themselves as accessible.
As I've already said, making your own is ridiculously simple. They are all over TH-cam and other sources. There are tenths and tenths of pages made by parents to homeschool. Apparently, academics despise them.

Very interesting work. I would be very interested to learn more about these techniques

Polo Maldonado Martínez But these programs aren't really accessible to at risk kids.
Of course, they are. You can even copy them in other cheaper materials. I've done it.

What Mr Bleik presents as a novelty has been around for at least 300 years, starting with Froebel, I believe.
