    The best thing about the Bandit 112 and what makes it a great amplifier for home studio is its PreAmp Out and PwrAmp Input. You can connect the PreAmp output to your audio interface as a line input and use IRs in the DAW. It has a very good output quality and saves you from buying Reactive Loadbox and... SUPER TRICK THAT NOBODY TELLS: allows you to place a cable (just a cable without any connection) in the PWR AMP input to almost completely silence the amplifier, which will save you It allows you to increase the volumes and get the best sounds out of the amplifier. Really, for that reason alone it was worth buying this amplifier. I appreciate the love you have had for this amplifier for years, because I have followed you for a long time and I have seen all the old reviews and I personally also appreciate it since I bought it almost twenty years ago.
    All the best.

    A few years ago I found a Silver Stripe Studio pro 60 in Berlin. Using this guy as back up Amp for Shows and actually in The rehearsal room … Play it with my fender Mustang and a Tube screamer and The Sound is amazing…. This old peaveys are pure magic.

    The red stripe series was where Peavey Transtube amps peaked. The T Dynamics knob is super useful in shaping your tone and the amp's headroom, most people who hear it really think it's a tube amp. I will never part with my red stripe Studio Pro. Peavey really should reissue these.

    • @the_nondrive_side
      @the_nondrive_side 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      I thumbs up but disagree. The Silverstripe had the T-dynamic and Sheffield speaker the only reason the red stripes sounds better is EVERYBODY UPGRADES THE SPEAKER.. and it's lighter by a bunch.
      Left as Backline I think the Silverstripe is way better

    • @gilbertotoledo1421
      @gilbertotoledo1421 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@the_nondrive_side I've never upgraded the speaker and it sounds fine for my particular tone, though I have thought of swapping the speaker eventually, but I always wind up thinking it sounds good as it is.
      I've never played the silver stripe, but any one of these would be great if Peavey reissued these. I wouldn't mind buying a silver stripe to pair my red stripe.

      @@gilbertotoledo1421 I wouldn't say either is better but Shane has a hotrod redstripe. After many speaker comparisons. The Silverstripe comes with a proper speaker and the unit I got was a $20 opportunity I lugged home.. suffering the 80? Lbs

    I bought one of these bad boys several years ago. Probably had the most gorgeous clean tone I've ever heard on an solid state amp. My Mainstays are an fender mustang 3 and a fender deluxe plus 112. I no longer have this red stripe. It's a bit heavy. But man it's a great amp. I learned about the existence of the deluxe plus through this channel. I love that amp.

    I have one as well, but mine is made in USA. The Chinese ones seem to be more avaliable where you are. I don't think there is much difference between the two. As for sound, you do a great job showing what that sounds like. It is truly amazing. The sound of the speaker being pushed does make a difference, but it can produce good tones at bedroom level if you want.
    It is amazing how the dynamics work on this amp. It truly sounds and feels like a tube amp. Peavey nailed it with this one. I have had the newer cyclops and they don't come close to the red stripe. I still own a teal stripe as well, and it is good, but the red is much more versatile.
    Thanks for sharing and helping the price of our vintage gear to go up. . . HA!

    First local Gig I ever went to when I was about 14 in high school, there was a band playing with a Bandit, and I always remember thinking it sounded incredible. They’re so affordable now - wouldn’t be surprised if they have a real resurgence in popularity but they’ll need to come down in price to compete with the likes of the Katana and new Laney Ironheart Foundry amps. Sounds great though!

  • @XieYie-d2b

    This is a great Amp and one of my favs, the Tube dynamics knob has Transtube technology in it. It transforms Solidstatesound into Tubesound. It works very interactive with the volume of the Amp. With a TubeAmp you have to be at very loud volume to reach the sweet spot where the Amp starts singing and the tubes have to work harder than what they are designed for (clean amplification) At this point Tubecompression and breakup really kicks in with less headroom. You can never get that sound at bedroomlevel with Tubes. With the Tube dynamics knob you dial in at what level this kicks in. With the knob at 100% it is basically out of circuit. So you have to set the Amp at desired volume with the Tube dynamics at 100%. Then dial back the Tube dynamics slowly and you'll hear it kick in. The louder the Amp is the less you'll have to turn it back to hear and feel it. Set to taste but be careful not to overdo it. And Njoy great (Tube)tone from a solidstate Amp. And to me it is the only Amp I can make any guitar sound awesome with.

    I got mine for free. Borrowed it from a good friend for a gig when my Peavey Prowler broke down, and I ended up keeping it. It has the pointy logo but it’s made in USA. Usually, the US-made models have the block/delta logo. I’ve since replaced the stock Sheffield 1230 with an Eminence Tonespotter (which was in my Prowler). The Sheffield is a fine speaker, don’t get me wrong. It’s just a bit “pokey” for my liking.
    It’s a killer amp for what it is, especially with pedals. But on the drive channel, about 3 o clock on the vintage mode is about as high gain as I ever use. The high gain mode is just too saturated, even when using the low gain input and with the gain set low. It would probably be better through a closed back 4x12… high gain and open back 1x12s aren’t exactly a good pairing. I find the vintage mode can handle just about anything with a Tube Screamer or some other kind of boost in front of it.

    I’ve had 2 over the years and my second one should still be with me. I loved that thing. The only thing was that it was as heavy as a tube amp. Peavey Transtube series was so far ahead of the rest.

    Great Vid Shane. I better get on marketplace and gumtree quick before the redstripes have another price rush! I have been weighing up simple solid state amps with effect loops for a band of 13-14 year olds. They use Katanas at school which I think sound great, but my search for a bargain on the second hand market was hovering around Peavey Bandits, Fender Mustangs, Katana's and (although new) Laney Lionheart Forge.
    Love your channel mate, I know your info comes from a thoroughly gigged perspective, which is invaluable info for an up and coming band.
    If you wanted to do a vid on what gear or tips a new band needs, for group rehearsal, what to expect at a venue, do's and don'ts, I would take all that info in a flash!

    I personally don’t care about where they are made, but there are some facts you might want to know about the date of your amp: the first red stripe Bandits were 2000 to 2004, were made in the US and were labelled, “Designed and Made in the USA” on the front, had Sheffield 1230 speakers, and most of them had, for a period of time, Peavey written as a block logo. From 2004-2005, the red stripe model was made in China, was labelled ”Designed in the USA” (rather than “Designed and Made”), had a speaker that was either unlabelled, or labelled Blue Marvel, and had the old pointy Peavey logo again. The indications on your amp make it undoubtably a China-made red stripe, either from 2004 or 2005.

    I went to Guitar Center last week to trade my USA red stripe bandit in for a Vox AC15C1. Listened to the GC employee play through it to test it and it sounded amazing. Hearing the amp at a distance gave me a different perspective. They only offered me $100 so I decided to bring it home rather than buy the Vox. It really is still the best bang for your buck IMO. I’m always trying to get something newer and I just can’t do it.

      @@mikewithers299 I did too Mike, a Hughes and Kettner Red box, but it was one more thing to set up, needed a battery, and just complicated things when doing fast set up or set down at gigs. The other thing was weight. We seem to get gigs where gear needs to be carried a long way. Yes there are trolleys, but it is all more gear in the back of the car. My current rig is very light, very small, and simple to set up. Blackstar Amped 3, Helix FX, and a light 112 cab with a Neo Celestion speaker in it. Cheers

      @mikewithers299 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @aidantod33 I get you. Makes more sense to have it built in. They mainly use those on bass amp rigs. But with guitar amps it was always lacking in true sound that comes from the combined amp and speakers. ADA rack gear got it right with speaker emulation but that rig is heavy.

    Fellow Melbournian, I picked up a Redstripe Bandit in mint condition last year. Swapped the speaker for a Celestion Redback, which I consider to be the true British alternative to the Texas Heat. Same wattage rating, smooth highs, better dynamics, but has that celestion midrange grind. If you still have your other Bandit with the Texas Heat, consider putting the Redback in this one. I'll let you try mine first if you ain't sure.

    It's interesting that you mention how it cleans up with you guitar volume, unlike some of the digital. The last Peavey I had was an Envoy 110. I don't remember which edition, I think it was 1995.
    I remember it having a really good sounding overdrive channel. The problem that kept me from playing it more was it's inability to clean up. When I turned the guitar volume down the amp volume would drop but the saturation stayed around the same.
    It's good if you have volume limits at home, but being someone that rides the volume and tone controls on the guitar, it just didn't work for me.

    Silverstripe is the best iteration IMHO.. but left as a backline install.
    T-dynamic on the Silverstripe was perfect worked on both channels. Best used preset with your guitar and in my case fuzz face and boost.
    I bought the Silverstripe because opportunity. But i was aware of opportunity because of Shane at In the Blues.
    You need to show the difference with these amps just having a tuner pedal plugged in before it does. That glass come from just having the buffer before the input. No idea why.. turn the T-dynamic down to min. And buffer the input and play with the volume pot

    I think you are single handedly keeping the used market for Peavey amps afloat. Yes, they are great amps and yes, solid state amps are going to take to the road well and yes, the Bandit is a great amp, as is the Envoy, the Studio, etc. I WILL ADD, you are also doing a lot to keep live music, played with amps alive. You are the patron saint of gigging musicians, man!
