I love this performance in these 2 years of touring together & the New Morning ones in Paris. The way Larry & Robben start it off & Toss & Travis come in after a few minutes is so beautiful adding that extra depth. That 4 way Qi between them in this number is just so fluid. Magnificent!

I don't know why people are complaining about anything, this whole thing seems great and I don't think any of those musicians are having any problems on stage AT ALL.

Toss Panos at drums is just AMAZING ...his "rightitude" is just a thing I still had never seen in my listener experience.. he plays dry but like Gadd and others always "in" the music. Travis is giant on this song always in perfect tune.. Don t know how larry picks up guys like Gene Coye and Panos.

If you want to talk about the subtleties of microtonal knowledge: bang. Right here.

WOW!..SWEEEEEEEEET! And Kudos to the sound man too! even with my shit little PC speakers with the sound mix in stereo, I was kind of mesmerized for a while there..LOL

What show were you watching? The "bass guy" is Larry's son, Travis. Robben was so pissed off that he hired Travis and the drummer to play on his European tour after this tour. The drums and bass are as great as the two guitars in their own way... Listen to the superb rhythm work Robben does on the bass solo... He's digging it... Then there's the tremendous interplay with Larry and his son. Robben is not pissed off. They are all listening to one another without ego issues. GREAT interplay.

Proof for Lou Reed's statement: "Nothing beats two guitars, bass and drums."

Kick ass. You have to actually see Robben play to understand the way he is on stage. Mad? hardly. Intense. And the man is one of the greatest rythm players ever. These players have the utmost respect for one another, you dont sound like that, that tight, without it.

WHAT? How could anyone think Robben isn't trying to do his very best with the Carltons??? this is one of their greats joys playing together...

    not at you;-)
    Here is my statement:
I am a poet loving being me and a Blues pianist in love with this here:
I love to cut it short to listen longer:
If it was not for the bridge (that you don't need here)
2:30 plus wasted seconds. I refuse to count them down, I just say 9
this is the very best I have ever heard.
you are so close it hurts ;-=

The bass player is Carlton's son, and he and Ford have played tons of concerts together.

I think that anybody who complains about this performance is really pissed that they're not in this band.

  • @twangbarfly

I'll go along with that - but I didn't see Travis get anything wrong here, and I don't think Robben did either. But there are other bass players who'd have done it differently. More in the pocket during solos - I see Will Lee, among others ... But hey, what woudl I know, I'm just a bastard guitarist :-)

The drummer is wicked. Never overplays, Very accurate sticking. The bassist's solo was great at the beginning but the moment he started that poppin' thang it just went downhill for me. I like a bass player who's always 'in the pocket.' Even during solos.

I find the Bassist slap technique a little shady. Also there is absolutely no need for those effects during the conversation between Larry and his son

  • @BJrok
    @BJrok 15 ปีที่แล้ว

The bass guy definitely got on his nerves. Kept on doing not-so-tasty solos. The first half was ok but I think he got too carried away. Sometimes even missing the beat while doing so.You're not suppose to do that if you're the bass player for RF! He didn't see Carlton pointing at Ford to take turns. I would be pissed too if that was the actual case. =)

BJrok go back to your crystal meth. The bass player is Larry’s son and he plays with those guys alllll the time

Nothing worse than a religious mindset.
Vicarious pleasure(?) is your only bet.
    Not my opinion, a fact.

Nothing worse than a disenchanted musician who couldn't make it. lol
    All my opinion as well.
