Fully agree, I watch a fair bit of sim racing but Chris is the one I really look forward to watching, I just love his commentary, he really brings it to life!
First time I've seen your channel and that was a lot fun. In future when people ask me why I like sim racing I'm gonna show them this! It's like a TV broadcast with the replays and the commentary, great work my man.
That was awesome Chris! The Cupra’s tactics were a bit ‘90s BTCC’ and Im pretty sure he’d have a trip to the bus after the race for doing that as blatantly these days. That said, what a fantastic race to watch and you’re commentary as always was the cherry on the top!
He certainly chose the right person to pick on… I’m all over the place as soon as I get rattled like that 🤣 I don’t know how most guys just brush it off and carry on racing as normal, just insanely good levels of concentration. It was quite satisfying to see them crash out later (although I’m sure the guy right in front of me doesn’t agree) 🤣
Just rewatched😂 This race shows the importance of when to go fast and when to hold back. You were at times on the positive and negative side of that. More often on the right side than I remember from a year ago 😂

Nice racing Chris. I liked how Clain did the right thing after being shunted by Kayz and slowly snoughploughed him off the track to stop another over-ambitious rejoin - after he'd already taken another one too in the same incident 😂 More RF2 content from you gets my vote please - that was great!

Awesome driving, editing and commentary. I’m getting back into sim racing and searched “RF2 Game Play”. This vid popped up and convinced me to buy the game! I actually had the very first RF when there were no licensed cars or tracks. Good to see what a fantastic game it turned out to be. Your racing and vids are fun to watch, I’m hooked 👍🏾👍🏾

Great watch Chris. Some nasty rejoining of that car. First time that Rokit BMW was victim as well. Later that other car. You were lucky there. Some need to take their loss when going wide. You were on it. Shame about that punt. Love this track.
It’s a dream combo, I loved it. That part of the grass is a nightmare to run wide on. The only way to avoid a crazy rejoin is to deliberately drive into the barrier to stop yourself. Clearly this guy wasn’t prepared to sacrifice himself 🤣

The margins are so fine, aren’t they! Like, if that guy had rejoined just a couple of inches further to the right on lap 1, my race would have been over. I imagine the video wouldn’t have been quite so upbeat if that had happened 🤣 cracking series though, I’d recommend giving it a try.

Oulton always delivers! Sad to see how you got punted out, but good to see your recovery after! Good job Chris! And I hope that Kayz gets reported! His punt to pass in the braking zone of the last corner was a very dirty move against you (Push to pass but on another level...). And his huge wrecking some laps later in the hairpin was unbelievable!
Yeah that hairpin thing was crazy. I mean, its a horrible place to run onto the grass… you have two choices… either drive into the barrier, or slide onto the track to try and save yourself and risk wrecking others. He chose the selfish option! Having seen him do it already on lap 1, I knew the sensible thing was to hang back a bit when I saw him do it again. Cheers mate

Yeah, it was a little rough for my liking. I get that touring cars involve a bit of bumping, but following me onto the defensive line and still doing it seemed a bit excessive! Took me several laps to regain my composure after that 🤣
I forgot how much fun touring cars were. Think I'm done with Valencia GT3 for this week after my 2nd last night. And I love Oulton. So, perfect combo. You're getting faster as well, by the looks of things. Agression's a problem for me as well. Jim got a bit annoyed with me last night being stuck behind the leader and told me to "just send it." Moments before the guy in 3rd did and caused a collision. "That, Jim, is why I don't."
Yeah I skipped Valencia, just because I don’t know the track and didn’t want to use up free time learning it. This BTCC series is great fun at the moment though. I think I’m a bit quicker in it because I recently raced a community series in the same car for 6 weeks, so I’m a bit more familiar with it, and confident to attack. Good luck, if you give it a try this weekend. Oh, one other thing… I mentioned last week that I hadn’t had any stutter problems in rf2 lately. Well I did with this race, big stutters. So I dialled down the graphics settings to medium for things like shadows, track details etc, and that made it much more stable.
@@chrisrogerssimracing That's the excuse the guy who collided with me gave after the race. Stutter. 😂I hadn't driven around Valencia before this week either. First race went as well as expected. But I'd got some idea by the second race and finished 5th but my God there was a lot of door banging. But then again, I get a chance to have at least one race most nights. I haven't played RF2 since the GPU upgrade so I'll give it a go over the weekend.

Thank you Jerry 😃 I think it’s probably one of my best drives. As you’ll know from watching lots of my old videos, I’m not usually the most attacking of drivers! So it felt pretty damn good to get properly stuck in, and do it safely (with a couple of near misses!)

Based on my recent experiences, I can fully recommend it! Can be a bit rough out there, but I guess that’s the nature of touring car racing. The cars can take a fair bit of bumping without it resulting in instant wipeout, so that’s really good too.
The tyre temperature is part of the rF2 HUD. You just have to set a button for Display Mode in Controls, then that button will cycle through all the different boxes in the MFD 👍
Haha, well I inserted the obligatory mid-race wreck so you knew it was still me 😉 But the SCB mini series helped me out massively with driving these cars… gave me a lot more track time to get used to it, unlike the other series I hop in and out of.
You have to thrash them, which goes against my entire thinking but once your brain acclimatises they are so much fun. GT3's start next week, they are much the same, to get the most you must live on the edge. Great video though, shows rF2 at it's best, didn't do your standing any harm either, bit more aggression and suddenly you're racing! Bravo!!@@chrisrogerssimracing
Yeah it was a shame but it wasn’t a problem, it didn’t take away any enjoyment levels from the race. I’ve got no problem at all if it’s just someone who’s made an honest mistake in the heat of battle, and hit me accidentally. Compared to my last ACC video, where you have someone deliberately spinning me around so they can gain a position - that’s what gets me annoyed 🤣
Hi Steve. Unfortunately not. It is an additional DLC pack. There is a BTCC car pack, and also a British track pack (Donington, Brands, Thruxton and Croft if I remember rightly). Been a long time since I used rF2, but seem to remember the two packs costing around £20 for the pair on Steam. That was a while ago when they first came out… might be a bit cheaper now!
@@stevedaszko1649 To add to this, neither Oulton Park nor Snetterton are available as official rF2 DLC. You can get Oulton from the workshop (bit 'cheeky' because I believe it's based on an iRacing rip) and Snetterton from the International Sim Racing website (requires registration).
I think it’s the 5 button. Buttons 3-6 all toggle different parts of the HUD on or off. If in doubt, go to Settings > Assign Controls > UI & Chat and you can set the buttons there
I did this race earlier and was wondering why I was so far off pace…did not realize these cars had p2p! 😅 Does anyone know if you can do quali or race on soft tires in LFM?
Haha, exactly the same as me last week! A few viewers commented that I wasn’t using it! So I remembered this week 🤣 map the P2P button, and you have keep the button pressed down for it to work. I started by pushing it once to switch it on, and that didn’t do anything. As for tyres, it depends on the track. Oulton this week, softs are available. But other tracks tougher on tyre wear, like Donington last week or Thruxton, the lowest you can go is mediums 👍
Fantastic action Chris. Im about to start the British Virtual Touring Car championship using the Toyota. Is LFM still a good source for racing like this?
Thank you. LFM has dropped rF2 now, so for online BTCC you’d need to use the rF2 in-game multiplayer… however it takes a while to gain the licence to qualify for it. I’ve done several rookie races but am still nowhere near getting the licence to do BTCC races. LFM is now running AC instead with classic touring cars using the VRC paid mods, which I’ve just started doing.
The good news is, you no longer have to own all the cars to race against them online in rF2. That was a crazy rule, glad they ditched it! So you could just buy one BTCC car on its own for around £4 (or buy a BTCC car pack for around £8 which gives you a selection). As for the tracks, I bought the British Track Pack which was £17. Individual tracks are £8 so it makes sense to get the pack. So in summary, around £21 would get you one car and the full track pack. Occasionally you’ll find rf2 sales in the Steam store too, although I don’t think there are any on at the moment.
@@BlessDD89 Ahhh nice one! rFactor 2 is fantastic when it’s on form. It can be a bit unstable, with the odd server blip or screen stutter. I had to dial down my graphics settings for this race, as was getting a lot of stutters. BTCC participation on LFM is starting to climb again now, at peak times, so it’s a good time to try it out!

I think William pushed you on purpose dirty driver tactics cause you where not breaking but he still bumped you knowing there’s a bend coming up @ the 6:50/7:10 on this vid
Yeah it did look like a tried and tested tactic, that one. I was a little bit disappointed with it. But enjoyed passing him back later when he crashed out 🤣

Where do i get this amazing Tire temperature overlay? Or whats the name of it to find?
The tyre temperature is part of the rF2 HUD. You just have to set a button for Display Mode in Controls, then that button will cycle through all the different boxes in the MFD 👍

Hi, yes, when you’re in the race, just press TAB - that’s the default keyboard button for toggling names on and off 👍

Haha, well I inserted the obligatory mid-race wreck so you knew it was still me 😉 But the SCB mini series helped me out massively with driving these cars… gave me a lot more track time to get used to it, unlike the other series I hop in and out of.
You have to thrash them, which goes against my entire thinking but once your brain acclimatises they are so much fun. GT3's start next week, they are much the same, to get the most you must live on the edge. Great video though, shows rF2 at it's best, didn't do your standing any harm either, bit more aggression and suddenly you're racing! Bravo!!@@chrisrogerssimracing

Yeah it was a shame but it wasn’t a problem, it didn’t take away any enjoyment levels from the race. I’ve got no problem at all if it’s just someone who’s made an honest mistake in the heat of battle, and hit me accidentally. Compared to my last ACC video, where you have someone deliberately spinning me around so they can gain a position - that’s what gets me annoyed 🤣

Hi Steve. Unfortunately not. It is an additional DLC pack. There is a BTCC car pack, and also a British track pack (Donington, Brands, Thruxton and Croft if I remember rightly). Been a long time since I used rF2, but seem to remember the two packs costing around £20 for the pair on Steam. That was a while ago when they first came out… might be a bit cheaper now!

@@stevedaszko1649 To add to this, neither Oulton Park nor Snetterton are available as official rF2 DLC. You can get Oulton from the workshop (bit 'cheeky' because I believe it's based on an iRacing rip) and Snetterton from the International Sim Racing website (requires registration).

How to disable the hud that attaches to the front of the steering wheel in rfactor 2?
I think it’s the 5 button. Buttons 3-6 all toggle different parts of the HUD on or off. If in doubt, go to Settings > Assign Controls > UI & Chat and you can set the buttons there

Does anyone know if you can do quali or race on soft tires in LFM?
Haha, exactly the same as me last week! A few viewers commented that I wasn’t using it! So I remembered this week 🤣 map the P2P button, and you have keep the button pressed down for it to work. I started by pushing it once to switch it on, and that didn’t do anything. As for tyres, it depends on the track. Oulton this week, softs are available. But other tracks tougher on tyre wear, like Donington last week or Thruxton, the lowest you can go is mediums 👍

Fantastic action Chris. Im about to start the British Virtual Touring Car championship using the Toyota. Is LFM still a good source for racing like this?
Thank you. LFM has dropped rF2 now, so for online BTCC you’d need to use the rF2 in-game multiplayer… however it takes a while to gain the licence to qualify for it. I’ve done several rookie races but am still nowhere near getting the licence to do BTCC races. LFM is now running AC instead with classic touring cars using the VRC paid mods, which I’ve just started doing.
How much money am i looking at for touring car packs with brithish tracks for r factor ?
The good news is, you no longer have to own all the cars to race against them online in rF2. That was a crazy rule, glad they ditched it! So you could just buy one BTCC car on its own for around £4 (or buy a BTCC car pack for around £8 which gives you a selection). As for the tracks, I bought the British Track Pack which was £17. Individual tracks are £8 so it makes sense to get the pack. So in summary, around £21 would get you one car and the full track pack. Occasionally you’ll find rf2 sales in the Steam store too, although I don’t think there are any on at the moment.

@@BlessDD89 Ahhh nice one! rFactor 2 is fantastic when it’s on form. It can be a bit unstable, with the odd server blip or screen stutter. I had to dial down my graphics settings for this race, as was getting a lot of stutters. BTCC participation on LFM is starting to climb again now, at peak times, so it’s a good time to try it out!
The total btcc pack is intresting, 30£ u have 8 cars and 3 tracks, less than 3£ for an item, it’s totaly worth it

@@boosivemotorsportofficial Cheers yeah I’ve had a couple of invites, my main problem is time. I only get online a couple times a week for sim racing, so it’s difficult to commit to it at the moment.

Yeah it did look like a tried and tested tactic, that one. I was a little bit disappointed with it. But enjoyed passing him back later when he crashed out 🤣
