      This is such a small detail but it bothers me every time I watch this movie cause Fran is pretty smart figuring stuff out most of the movie and it’s like Ransom is a big beefy dude and clearly remorseless why would she think it’d be a good idea to meet him in a secluded place by herself?!!

      She’s a very smart woman. She also watches a lot of hallmark detective shows where the protagonist can accuse someone of guilt and they crumble immediately after the person explains how they did it. Then the cop love interest just calmly cuffs them. It’s a small detail I actually enjoyed to show that, while Fran is a smart woman and deduced that Ransom had something to do with it, she lacked the practical tact to bring someone or something to defend herself, which made sense given her “training”

    Good foreshadowing in this movie. Although I did point this out in the last video note how when they look at the cameras earlier in the movie, Ransom's car is never seen leaving on the cameras. It was so clear he wasn't trustworthy and yet you still didn't expect it to be him because, as I've been told, it's never the most obvious suspect and it did end up being the most obvious suspect.

    I've watched this movie 4 times now. Each time I've rewatched this movie I've picked up on new Easter Eggs, foreshadowing, etc. If you pay attention to details the movie can be quite revealing. Which I really love!
    For example, Richard actually exposes himself cheating on his wife by throwing the baseball out the window when looking for the hidden letter that Harlan wrote. Next, later on, as Blanc and Marta are combing the mansion for clues he throws the baseball for the dogs in the yard but instead, they return the broken lattice, leaving the baseball out in the yard. Finally, near the end of the movie we see Linda returning the recovered baseball to her late father's study. There she finds the letter open and thus revealing Richard being a cheater. Full circle. Like a donut hole within a donut...
    Also, when Ransom is first revealed to us the dogs are barking at him and jumping on him like crazy. The same testimony we are told that when the dogs were heard barking late at night from when he came back to mess with the medicine bag.
    Finally, you can also see the painting of Harlan change from having a stoic/concerned look (when Marta is looking at it before her interview with Blanc), and then when the mystery is solved at the end of the movie we can see Harlan smirking/smiling.
    These are just some of my favorite ones that I noticed! Others include the foreshadowing of the stage prop knife from Harlan and then Ransom stabbing Marta with a "stage prop" knife and the family getting Marta's nationality wrong every time they mention where she is from.
    I believe this movie was wonderfully written and shot. I can't wait for the second one to come out!

      @@captaindreadeye6264 I think Fran was banking on a payout, at least in the event that Ransom actually showed up and thus confirmed that he had something to hide.
      She had no idea what Ransom had done, but she probably figured that she could take a chance and see if he would bite on the blackmail bait. If she really wanted him to pay for his crimes, she could have reached out to the authorities in advance of the meeting. No, she probably wanted to see if she could get some money out of it and take Ransom down a peg in the process.

      There was an excellent US Civil War documentary made around 1990, an American show but got a full run on the BBC. Daniel Craig heard the US Civil War historian Shelby Foote's voice in that, and based Benoit Blanc's accent on him. To a fellow Englishman't ears, he nailed it, but whether anyone from Mississippi wants to proffer an alternative view we'll see.

  • @TinieTempah95
    @TinieTempah95 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Just incase anyone doesn’t understand how Ransom knew it went wrong - Marta told him in the confession that the vials dropped and she gave him what she thought was the mixed up vials (but ofc she didn’t know that he had already mixed them) so when he heard this Ransom realised she had actually given him the correct medicine (eg. when she said to him I was supposed to give him Morphine and gave him the other drug - he realised that because he switched them he actually gave him the correct dose because the medicine was switched) so he burnt the medical centre because the tox report would show that she innocent.
    Fran also couldn’t interpret the tox report but all she knew was that Ransom had messed with the vials so she sent him a blackmail message and when he met her beforehand he killed her (so he thought) and burnt the copy of the tox report but he didn’t know Fran had a copy in her stash so he thought he was clear because she confessed but obviously that went wrong.

Then I’ll tell him to meet me in this old abandoned laundromat that nobody knows about so that he can easily finish the job with no witnesses. I’ll also not tell anybody else about this meeting or about the evidence, and I won’t even bring a weapon of any kind to defend myself.” Honestly, if I were Ransom I would be worried that this meeting was some kind of sting.
