Great videos, as always Kevin. Quick question; have you ever had any long-term issues with using brake cleaner on these aluminum parts (intake manifold, etc.)? I just did a JDM swap on this same car ('98 Accord w/ automatic trans) and, as you mention, getting the original gasket material off the intake manifold (where it mates to head) was a long, tough scraping job. I was nervous to use brake cleaner on the machined aluminum surface, so just used aerosol "gasket remover" spray with a utility blade with a push-style handle. It worked, but was a slow, multi-day (let the remover soak) process. I was tempted to use brake cleaner but did not. Curious to know if you've ever had any issues? Thanks again for your great, in-depth videos!
Another question Kevin; you mentioned at the end it being much quieter, and that you had some things with your rocker arms that you had to take care of. What did that entail? My "new" JDM motor has a knocking sound at idle (goes away when varying throttle position) and, I swear, it's coming from the valve train. It's louder than the typical valve clicking sounds and comes and goes. I'm wondering if I have a similar issue with the rocker arms (that you discovered), so would love to hear what that was in your case. Thanks again for the great videos.
Between the VTEC oil cylinders between the rocker arms, there is a metal spacer that is mounted on the rocker arm tube. I had one that I got the stop side on the wrong side and it broke off. The part still on the tube was rattling. As far as the knock, could be piston slap. Look at some videos of Hondas with piston slap and see if it's similar. Thanks for commenting!
What did you have to do with your rocker arms? I am having trouble with the valve clearance. Apparently, the intake side of the rocker arm seems to be a bit tighter. I backed out the adjuster screws on the rocker arm and it is still touching the intake valves stem tip.
Excellent video. Most detailed one I've seen. Thank you so much!
Glad you found the channel. Thanks for taking a moment to comment!
These videos help a ton thanks so much Matt from Alabama
Thank you for taking a moment to comment. I'm glad to hear the videos were helpful!

I hope they come in handy. Thanks for the compliment!
Nice work kevin
Thank you

Not really. If he gets hot on the rough surface of the intake, it makes it spotty. No issues at all on the finished surfaces. It evaporates very fast.

Was that a Rod knock at start up???
Nah. The valves in those engines are very tappy. Did a road trip from NC to TX and back right after that video with no issues.

The piston for the rockers you are adjusting needs to be at TDC.
