Thanks for the reply... I picked up a new transfer pump from Auto Zone about $10.00 plus tax. It had heavy clear tubing with a lock mechanism like the newer plumbing quick connects. I Looked around my garage and found an old sink with a small filtered water spout. It had the perfect angle and size for the fill. I modified the hose with a small - thicker piece of hose from a washer and used a couple tie wraps so it wouldn't slip out. I drilled a hole in the top of one of the quart caps using a 5/8" wood drill bit. From my experience when drilling out plastic, put your drill in reverse use a wood bit with the point in the center. I put a 3/8" grommet in the cap on the suction end of the clear tube in case the bottle tipped. I used one of the A.T.F. fluid quart cap to be used and cleaned everything well. Placed another grommet and tie wrap for length to the bottom of quart bottle. I reused this cap on all quarts. This tool will be used only for Transmission fluid in the future. Excellent....now the video even more people want is how to create an inexpensive suction pump to extract engine oil, etc. out of engines. Most of the quality fluid suction pumps that drain into a container are close to $100. Shouldn't be that pricey, just reverse the process. Just an idea for the project I'm working on now.
Warning: If you are using something like this to fill your differential or transfer case with pure gear oil, just be aware that it could be contaminated with the silicone lube these cheap sprayers have. What this: th-cam.com/video/U9KzkyslbSE/w-d-xo.html In all honestly, I still think the best way is to use a long tube and a funnel, attached to some sort of stand, and just pour it in and let gravity do the rest, like this: th-cam.com/video/5JHgark4JNg/w-d-xo.html
No doubt this is an great solutiion. If you are in a pinch, and do not have a pump sprayer available, one can use an air compressor with very LOW PRESSURE (like 5lbs) by drilling 2 holes into the top of a container. Drill one hole so you can fit your air nozzle over the top forming a seal. and drill a second hole in the cap for your feed tubing. Assemble an apply VERY LOW AIR PRESSURED. The air will force the liquid throught the tubing. This worked great when I changed my diff fluid.. Your set up is better you only need one hand to transfer the fluid.
Toyota transmission burns up after 30k? My 2011 Toyota Highlander nearing 150,000 has over 75,000 between changes and it runs great. I was warned not to give full fluid change because it might cause trans to slip. Some Toyotas trams are now sealed, no dip stick.

Your Lexus ATF fluid change led me here! I too love using Maxlife ATF on everything from Toyota/Lexus, Subaru, BMW ZF and now Maserati ZF transmissions. Have you read any of RAT540 engineering blog? He tested the wear protection limits of 298 engine oils by now and recently tested some gear oils and ATF. The Maxlife, Castrol Transmax and Ford Mercon LV, Mobil multi vehicle (blue bottle) SEIZED UP IMMEDIATELY. I’m shocked. However, Amsoil OE Multi vehicle, OE Fuel efficient, Signature Series Fuel Efficient tested really good. The kicker: Mobil1 Full Synthetic Multi Vehicle Formula (grey bottle/black label) edged out the Amsoil lineup! I have cases of that ready to go in… Thank you for your fluid pump DIY
I had never heard of Rat540 but I did find that blog. I didn't find anywhere that explained how they tested the ATF fluids so it is hard for me to accept any of their test data. This is what I know about MAXLIFE. I have used it in many transmissions ever since it has been out and I have vehicles with over 300,000 miles on them using Maxlife. The reason I started using it in Toyota transmissions is because the ATRA "Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association" recommended it over WS fluid, they said in an article if you are going to use the WS fluid you should change it every 30,000 miles but if you want to go to 100,000 miles between fluid changes then use the MAXLIFE. If you are not familiar with ATRA they are an organization of professional automatic transmission rebuilders that figure out fixes for all transmissions that have problems due to poor manufacturing engineering. So to me the fact that not only do I have over 20 years of real-world experience with MAXLIFE but the largest authority on automatic transmissions recommends it.
@@737mechanic yes I understand. I too have Maxlife in my 100 series that now has 286,000mi. Rat540 doesn’t divulge his test methods (strike against him!) but he’s written 60 intriguing car related articles. Like he def knows his stuff. He claims to be above the influence of any oil company. He torture tests his oil at operating temp which, according to him, the ASTM does not. And that’s his claim to his method as being advantageous. He’s written an article about big oil testing methods. What I also like is he’s a lifelong engine builder on top of being a mechanical engineer! ATRA sounds credible or they could be simply be endorsing Valvoline Maxlife and it happens to work well! I found the Maxlife because of Nathan’s BMW channel. MAXLIFE DOES WORK GREAT. No doubt! “Better” that I’m finding with Mobil1 FS ATF may not necessarily mean anything. What matters most is regular maintenance. Also my opinion. Would have been great if you had experience with the Mobil1 FS ATF multi vehicle formula. I shall report back! Maybe you’ll have another video to make either way lol
@@737mechanic I think what I like best is RAT540 does this on his own free time and is VERY SKEPTICAL about oil companies as we all should be! His ranking changes periodically as companies are always changing their formula! He has lately stated that the new Dexos Gen3 oils coming out are largely worse. It opened the door for companies to make more profits. Even his #1 Quaker State FS 5W30 (not Ultimate Durability) has fallen about 12% but still out edges the rest… for now..
@@vqdriver Does he have a youtube channel or website showing him testing or anything like that? I like watching people putting stuff to the test but I am always skeptical of how they perform certain test.
I'm wondering about the flow rate. To flush my automatic transmission, it would have to pass at least 14 quarts of transmission fluid, which is similar in viscosity to the oil you use here. How long do you think it would take to do that with this system ? How a bout 3.5 quarts of 90w gear oil ?
Pick up the larger 2-gallon sprayer, add in the shraeder valve, hook up the air compressor with a pressure regulator set to like 20 pounds (will need locking chuck), should work. You'll still need to stop to refill once, but better than stopping 4 times with the smaller sprayer.
Givegive me if I’m mistaken and misunderstood. However, No need to cut that sprayer nozzle. It will twist/pulled right off. Leavuobg or just as it was cut.

In all honestly, I still think the best way is to use a long tube and a funnel, attached to some sort of stand, and just pour it in and let gravity do the rest, like this: th-cam.com/video/5JHgark4JNg/w-d-xo.html
private guy.....OCD is the name for your condition!!!
Beautiful. 👍
The Schrader valve idea works Ive done it.
Thank you, I was about to go to O'Reilly's and pay the same $12 that you mentioned for one of those crappy pumps. Thank you.
I have seen someone do that on youtube and it is a great idea.
Does it have enough pressure to fill a transmission from below like for
a Mercedes Benz?
Yes
Toyota transmission burns up after 30k? My 2011 Toyota Highlander nearing 150,000 has over 75,000 between changes and it runs great. I was warned not to give full fluid change because it might cause trans to slip. Some Toyotas trams are now sealed, no dip stick.
Thank you very much for making this video, I really like videos like this that are helpful and save me money . youtubers like you are what make youtube great
Curious, How do you drain your Transmission Oils, using the pan or pump, suck it out? Finding a good pump, is a bigger problem, IMO! Thx for the Video!
This is what I use. I did a video on it. Works like a champ. I couldn't figure out a DIY solution. amzn.to/3n1bOAU

WHY DLDNT YA BEND ORIGINAL TUBE WITH A LITTLE HEAT??
11 minute video that should have been 5 minutes. Great idea, but he loves to hear himself talk.
Thanks for the comment.
Actually, they’re both made in USA. That’s why I’m really skeptic about this shit working at all.
Oh yea, you must be some commie bastard from a third world country.
@@737mechanic If it interests you, I’m European but yes, now I live in a Third World country called America
@@amirbiscevic8944 The past 3-1/2 years we have been a third-world country. Still better than Europe but hopefully in November we get our great country back.
Where’d you get that aluminum OD tube? Can’t find it anywhere.
It is 5/16 OD and I got it from EBAY.

I am doing this for 29.5 years old 1994 Pontiac grand am at 50,000 km or 4 years interval. Since I but the car in 1994. Exactly the same procedure and never had a problem with my car. So…..One tip for everybody, remove the end from the pipe that is inside the sprayer.
@@737mechanic sub’d by the way! Keep on keepin on with the good ways!! 👍🏽
90w might be kinda slow so if you use this for something that thick I would do it on a hot day so it will be as thin as possible.
Pick up the larger 2-gallon sprayer, add in the shraeder valve, hook up the air compressor with a pressure regulator set to like 20 pounds (will need locking chuck), should work. You'll still need to stop to refill once, but better than stopping 4 times with the smaller sprayer.
Max Life ATF or Valvoline ATF = AWESOME and SAVE $$$
Its the same thing, It is Valvoline Maxlife ATF
@@737mechanic - You are right... I meant for Castrol or Valvoline.
@@JodBronsonI prefer the Maxlife because it is so versatile and can be used in almost all my vehicles.
What are you using for your metal hose? Is it brake line tubing? If so did you have to flare the one end?
It is 5/16 thin wall aluminum tubing. No flaring required. it connects with a compression fitting.
How do I suck out old fluid without dropping pan?
th-cam.com/video/DfQL50lMqUE/w-d-xo.html
Good Idea... Subscribed...
All the high dollar ones and that works just as good! Kudos!!
Givegive me if I’m mistaken and misunderstood. However, No need to cut that sprayer nozzle. It will twist/pulled right off. Leavuobg or just as it was cut.
The nozzle will come off and the new metal tube will push in and tighten as you tighten the compression sleeve.
@@737mechanic good 👍
Great product review I kept waiting to see you use it... $5 at walmart! We get it
Great idea. Though I was hoping you were going to use it to suck the fluid up out of the dipstick tube as an extractor.
Thank You awesome video but the sprayers aren't $%.00 any more or I clicked on the wrong item?
Wow your right the sprayer is $19.00 now. I should have bought 4 when I had the chance.
How do you get the fluid out where there is no drain plug?
David Parker you could remove the pan or use a fluid evacuator.
@@737mechanic '99 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 - there no drain plug or pan on the transfer case, front differential, and rear differential. There is about 1/4" space between the front differential and the I-beam suspension member, I can't even reach the top bolts without dropping suspension. Without disassembly, the only access is through the fill plugs. I see there are quite a few vacuum evacuators for sale, guess it's time to buy one or make one.
Thanks for the video! What do you use to extract the fluid from the fill tube? Thanks!
you remove the entire drain plug..
You are a genius and the lifesaver
Or pour the fluid into a bigger bottle ?
I do the same thing for transmission fluid and transfer case fluid. This same transmission fluid transfer kits cost over $165, can you believe it? And this sprayer bottle works exactly same way. Nothing more nothing less. How they ripping ppl off unbelievable. Maybe those bottles are lil bit better quality but not worth ($165)
Is the Valvoline MaxLife ATF is substituting for Dexron-III? It’s for my 2000 Toyota Camry LE V6 and it’s close to 60K miles. Thanks
Yes it is compatble with Dexron II, Dextron III, Dexron VI.
737mechanic cool. Thanks
Thank you so much for this DIY video. Saved me a lot of money.
A little bit of sense will save a whole lot of cents. Good video
where did u get the pump for $5.00? and where di u get the aluminum pipe?
Where did you get the angel tube?

@@737mechanic is it flared on the end? Can you post a link to the tube on Amazon?
Flo Master apparently doesn’t make a 1 gallon sprayer anymore. Would a bleach sprayer be similar to that?
shinerlightman I would think so.
Will it siphon fluid ?
No
I bought a small pump but it doesn't extract the fluid. How do I convert it to extract. Maybe I should have bought a bigger one
These will not extract fluid. I either drain the fluid or I use a fluid extractor. I did briefly try to convert my other one into an extractor but did not have any luck so I bought a dedicated fluid extractor.
Great video, that pump worked great.. and it was cheap. Thanks for sharing bud!!
