A brief history of the Dalek City on Skaro

In this video we will be looking at the Dalek City on Skaro, the first example of a Dalek structure seen in Doctor Who, and exploring the long history of Skaro's most enduring landmark.

The Dalek city is the best part of Dalek history in my opinion, I wish we could see more of that city in fan made Dalek culture

I feel Skaro as a planet should be explored more than just the city. While I think it would be nice to have an episode dedicated to the inner workings of the city I would rather see more of Skaro and other dalek city’s or outposts.

One thing I like in time lord victorious is that they visit a place called to volt of obscenity’s which is a whole other thing on skaro where they keep there most powerful weapons and other things

I had always believed that the Daleks on Skaro during The Daleks had actually become accustomed to radiation and that they needed it, much like oxygen, to survive. When Susan gives them the Thal's anti radiation drug, the Daleks that test it die and the Daleks surmise that they need radiation, thus deciding to exhaust all their radioactive gas into Skaro's atmosphere.

just a side note I really like the black and white filter on the magicians apprentice/the witch's familiar clips, makes me really want a new dalek episode filmed like that, maybe a doctor-less episode structured like the black mirror episode Metalhead

My theory as to why the daleks "devolved" is to conserve power; if they could just use the minimal amount of power they get from siphoning it through the floor, the energy needed to recharge their power cells could be reallocated elsewhere, since they were gonna be stuck there a while.

I actually didn’t think that the Dalek city city’s were at all connected as I just viewed them as all bases that the Daleks constructed all over Skaro and potentially over worlds.

the daleks had lots of citys on skaro but kaalann was the main city shown in the daleks 1963 and series 9, and its mentioned in a few other things too like audios and comics

1:50 Didn't the Daleks discover they were dependent on radiation to survive? I remember watching that episode and seeing a Dalek that was given an anti-radiation drug dying and calling for help, giving its observers that epiphany.

Its funny that the plot of season 2 of the 100 lifts quite a bit from "the daleks" entities trapped in a bunker scheming to return to the ground at any cost , even the radiation drug is vaguely similar to the bone marrow transplant in the 100

i love the scenes in the 1st Dalek adventure episode 1 - when they are exploring the city before the initial appearance of the Daleks - supported by an incredible electronic noise soundtrack which, together with the great sets, just makes the whole sequence so atmospheric & sinister - everything is Dalek shaped & Dalek sized but we haven't seen one - yet 🫣

Just a gaint building in the shape of a Dalek, It appeared in Asylum of the Daleks. The 7th Doctor Big finish audio We are the Daleks sort of loosely alludes to how this building came to be.

I understand why you didn't but it would've been cool to see the alternate timeline brought about in the City of the Daleks game when they got their hands on an Eye of Harmony (or whatever it was). It was cool to explore the city in both of those timelines.

Idk why but I want the Daleks to turn Skaro into a weaponised world city that moves around the universe - the ultimate sign of Dalek supremacy......so basically the Death Star 😂
