I did love the gold dalek, I always thought it was sad that he say's he is pretty much going to Spiridon in part 6 of frontier, yet he never appears in planet of the Daleks. It would of been so much better and for continuity that the section leader in Planet be the gold dalek.
I kind of think that the meaning and appearance of the various Dalek ranks varied wildly over their long history. Thus, a Gold might be Supreme in one part of the timeline, and equivalent to an Army Captain in another. Of course, Doylistly the reason we saw Gold Daleks being leaders in the Third Doctor's era (instead of the Black Daleks of the 1960s) is because it was in colour, so they wanted to take advantage of not needing to paint a Dalek black to make it look different from the others. Not sure why they didn't continue that in later eras of the classic series, but perhaps JNT liked the '60s Daleks more.
I use to think that the Time War Daleks were gold themselves and in a way I’m sort of right as their hemispheres are gold while the rest of them are bronze.
I think its in "The History of the Daleks" book by John Peel (with Terry Nation) that the name Dalek Prime is first used. The "Prime" came about after the incapacity of the "Emperor" during "The Evil of the Daleks" storyline. They are effectively the Prime Minister. They speak for the "Emperor" in his/its absence and are in charge of the Strategic direction of Dalek operations. Where as a "Supreme" 's are General-Field Marshals (see Eisenhower WW2) with overall control of a Tactical Operation. **** The Gold & Black Supreme from "Planet of the Daleks", is (in one fan fiction I've read) the last surviving Imperial Guard from "Evil of the Daleks", he took (absorbed or deflected) the Kill shot, which saved the "Emperor"'s life. His/Its life support keeping him in stasis, just like the "Emperor", until the crew of a Dalek Battle Cruiser on a deep survey mission, returned home to Skaro. Fortunately its onboard Trans Mat, had been damaged by fragments from a Comet's tail, while performing reconnaissance of a planetary system, operating with very minimal shields.
We're long overdue a permanent Dalek redesign in my opinion. They could bring gold back into the rotation. A modern take on black with gold trim could be really good. You know, as long as they don't give them a hunchback or make them look like plastic or something...
I am a fan of the paradigm and if they were going to remove them as the main design, I do wish they'd have kept them as a kind of clandestine group of daleks, only really appearing in legends
The colour scheme was based on that movie prop with slight alterations, the slats and lower collar becoming gold instead of silver Weirdly dalek omega has the same colour scheme as the prop from 2150AD sans bumper
Gold Daleks would be a really fancy addition to the current retinue. It's pretty disappointing how the red Supreme Daleks in New Who look so dull and grimy given how important they are, which is a problem with the Daleks just generally, they need to be polished up a bit. But a gold Dalek, gleaming and clean would look amazing, especially if they give it a more metallic paint job than the almost beige Frontier/Day gold Daleks.
No they don't, NSDs look awful clean, they look too plasticky and bare Notice the differences between the RTD era dalek props and the Moffat post asylum builds
@@theentity5201They’re not as clean as classic Daleks, they all have a sort of dust-and-grease-accumulating-at-the-edges look, particularly in the case of the Supreme, it’s covered in black markings. In the case of bronze drones, you could argue they look like metal that’s been worked but hasn’t been polished or painted, and they have oxidation stains from the fabrication process.
I do really like gold dalek gold dalek commanders as they mix it up giving daleks more unique casing designs to daleks that aren’t supremes. I disagree with the theory’s that the two gold daleks are the same as that just makes the dalek empire seem smaller and not a vast galactic super power
I've got three more videos planned that cover different colour-coded Dalek ranks, and I want the thumbnails to be consistent so they all get the blue NSD eye
@@dalekbumpsI think it looks better, too. The pupil is probably my least favourite Dalek eye design, though it does have its own charm. The solid white eyes of the original Daleks and the Big Finish ones are my favourites.
The Gold Dalek is one of my favorites. Thank you!
I never noticed at 1:43 Roger Delgado pushes the last Dalek, probably so the operator knew where to go haha.
I like the Gold Dalek he is awesome and it is tens of billions, of pities he never appeared more than twice.
I'd love to see a NSD gold Dalek. Something that looks distinctive enough from the bronze ones. Another great video
Replace the bronze with gold and the gold with black, maybe?

That gold Dalek got promoted to the Supreme Dalek before going to spriridon

The Red Supreme Dalek isn't overused but the new paradigm is severely underused and the bronze ones don't deserve anymore screen 💻 time
This makes me want to set out the dalek hierarchy on a flow chart again lol
Fun vid
Suggestion. How about a video on the Hayakawa Dalek design?
"Outpost Commander" is what I'm going to say is the official rank.
What if that Gold Dalek is The same Gold Dalek from Daleks Invasion of Earth 2150AD?
It very cleverly handles multiversal conquests.
