Very funny event! Loved to see women and men playing together. I admire Aryna and Taylor and they seemed to form a good parternship along the tournament.
I had no idea this event had money tied into it! Had my money on the Polish players, but happy to be disappointed because I love Fritz and Sabalenka as well, haha. Loved hearing Ruud and Jabeur giving some insight. Wish I could have been there.
Honestly...It REALLY wasn't that hard. Iga clearly was just caught unprepared at that moment, that's why she just blocked it instead of hitting a proper shot. It happens often in doubles that you stop concentrating for one second, and when the ball then comes towards you, it seems to come faster than it really is.
God, tennis fans need to chill. Fritz’s shot was perfectly fine, people are just mad it was at their precious little Iga. She literally tried to do the same shot before but hit it into the net. He also did get hit by one of Hubi’s shots, but just smiled it off because it’s not that big of a deal. Besides, the serve set him up for an easy down the line shot.
tennis players are too soft. there was nothing wrong with taylor's shot. as a professional, and especially in doubles, you need to be ready at the net. exhibition or not.
Exhibition tennis. Even the crowd understands that. No need to hit a ball full pelt at a woman at the net. Legit in a serious tournament for sure but otherwise..... Nope
well, i’ve played many exhibitions in both charity and serious tournament styles in front of audiences including some with mixed doubles. and never has any male or female gotten upset if a ball was hit fast at them. if it is done in good spirits (and in this case he clearly meant no harm bc taylor could’ve hit this way harder and more towards her face), then it’s all contributed towards the fun. and typically, net players enjoy the small challenge of returning these shots bc it gets the audience involved even more. i’ve trained with professional players for years and played against professionals in tournaments and i know for a fact that egos get hurt in our sport way easier than most. too much of a soft country club sport.
I get the criticism on both sides. But still..imagine if Iga got knocked out of the real tourney because of this. I like Fritz, but that wasn't cool. Plus, he's not the deepest thinker, so I'm sure it was just a brain fart in the moment as opposed to any ill- intent.

Pathetic middle of the block serve by Hubi at 7-8, making his partner completely vulnerable instead of holding up his team. (And Fritz didn't hit Iga with the return, but punished the freebie.)

Iga really needs to work on not being a sore loser. She consistently acts like a brat when she loses and you can see it in the handshakes. Other players hug each other after losses and just show their respect and Iga always comes off just sour af. lol
She gave completely normal handshake to Sabalenka. Fritz got what he got for that headshot. Also you clearly don't watch Iga's matches bc last time she lost she gave hug to her opponent.
@@joanka1915 Lol I watch her matches all the time, she whines and pouts more than most of the players on tour when she is losing. She might show respect here and there but way more often its not that way. And lmao..."headshot" im so sick of the softness of tennis. So biased ... She hugs her opponents if she is friends with them (e.g. Krejcikova, Jabeur, Badosa). Obviously she is not that close with Sabalenka. And if you say that "she whines and pouts more than most of the players on tour when she is losing" ... Maybe you watch only her matches? Not to look far - Sabalenka whines more than Iga and they both aren't even in top10 of the biggest whiners on Tour
The players commentating the match is probably the coolest thing. Happy to have these new boosted Masters 1000 events!!
maybe but the audio is so messed up its scrambling my brain
Wow. The audio screwup during that is horrific
It was the same in another one of the videos from the series. Weird!
was fun to watch these tie break matches .. hopefully we get a aryna/iga battle in the final would be epic .. 🔥🔥

Ruud, my thoughts exactly on the Penn balls... We played w Penn in Surprise, Arizona at USTA Nationals, and they really were dead.
Iga was offended by Fritz
He didn't hit her - his shot was perfectly placed. It's a crime by friendly Hubi to serve so weak.

Fritz it appeared intentionally hit the ball towards Iga
thats how mixed double works
Not sure how anyone could get mad at that. Hitting a return at the net player is one of the most routine plays there is in doubles.
