      Yeah what the hell, “erm well from what I saw, from my personal experience” no, man, if you didn’t see *exactly* what happened in front of you with absolute accuracy, which is required by your job, then you didn’t see it. If you cannot relay exactly what happened, you didn’t see it. What is this “my truth, my personal truth” shit, you either saw what objectively happened or you didn’t, you can’t interpret something as happening in any other way other than how it objectively played out. That’s what the replay is for, for what should be the *rare* occasion the ump somehow feels they have to interpret, as opposed to just report, exactly what played out. So stupid.
      “The replay wasn’t clear enough” sure, then why is anybody at all making judgment calls for points which not a single person or camera was looking at, apparently?

    • @jurrepos
      @jurrepos 18 วันที่ผ่านมา +7

      I cannot fathom how Borges could lose that point, the umpire didn't even consider a replay. That was the least he could do. That was a big blunder from the umpire. He assumed Borges gave up the point because of his inactive posture but that was very bad assumption because Garin never challenged point after the out call from the spectator, he just continued playing. Garin missed the next shot maybe because of the confusing situation but that was his own mistake, Borges wasn't at fault. Garin got rewarded for his mistake, so poor sportmanship from him and the umpire should go back refereeing ITF matches.

    The commentators and the comments below are completely missing the point on the Borges call. The rule says that if you stop playing then you immediately lose the point. The umpire looked at Borges at 13:54 and judged that he stopped playing. It's completely irrelevant whether Garin's shot was in or out: the point was already over as soon as Borges stopped. Now, one could argue that Borges didn't stop playing, but it's certainly not straightforward. It's a tough call.

      @shortyrags 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Garin is the one who called hindrance. Borges is allowed to stop in that case. It's not a tough call.

      @@shortyrags Sorry but you're missing the point as well. The alleged stop of play by Borges came BEFORE Garin said anything (again: 13:55).

      @@FAonTH-cam Fair enough. But calling a hindrance on Borges for stopping play there seems ridiculous when Garin had already hit the ball wide. Point should have been replayed for everyone’s sake

      It's funny you just need enough ppl and eventually somebody will have a different opinion than everybody else... Where the hell did you see Borges stop playing? I watched the scene 5x, he plays the ball, does not say anything and then Garin hits it wide. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Is it a prerequsite to hire the most useless people imaginable to be supervisors? That FAA call was horrendous, you can see the replay, why can't the supervisor ever overrule the umpire, especially when it supports common sense? I don't even know where to begin with the Borges one. This sport is getting more and more dodgy by the day.

      The issue with Nishioka is that he is a really talented player but simply can't consistently break through anyone ranked in the top 30. It becomes frustrating and then you mentally give up constantly losing in the third rounds of events.
