The United Cup returns for a second year as the best ATP Tour and Hologic WTA Tour players in an 18-country teams' event play over 10 days across two Australian cities: Perth and Sydney. The tournament, which carries 15 million Australian dollars prize money, as well as rankings points, will run from December 29 2023 to January 7 2024.

Siegemund for me is one of the most underrated players in women's doubles and she showed how good she is this whole tournament.
Not underrated, she won Wta Finals and made US Open finals. Anyone who follows tennis knows she's a top player.

Underrated? Solid Slam performances and still a T10 player at age of 36.
No matter how you look at it, the clincher here is Siegemund as an experienced doubles player. The other 3 were singles specialists. You can see it throughout the match that Laura was mostly dictating and planning with Zverev listening and delivering. Even the commentators noticed it. Unlike Iga and Hubert, the Germans communicated better. Tbh they really should have used their doubles ATP over Hubert to level it better. The Aussies fight were closer for a reason (had match points even); it's because they let their doubles players play unlike the Poles.

Poland could have defeated Germany if they had fielded doubles specialists, like Zieliński, who is 7th in the doubles ranking (and possibly Piter instead of Swiatek), but that wouldn't have been the dream final for the sponsors, lacking the big names.

Laura was amazing. She has spatial awareness and the confidence to return any shot with interest. And her movement, very much aware when she needed to move to the front, remained in the back, let Zverev do the damage or she herself executed it. Such a confident play from her
Z's volley and net play have improved tremendously compared to just a few years ago. Impressive.

Bravo to Siegumund! Her movement & net game combined with Zverev's reliable serving made the difference in this MX. You could see it in the rally of the first point in the third when her movement closed the gap & forced the error from Swiatek while Zverev's returns kept the point neutral.

one great mixed doubles. Some of Iga's shots - world class. One can clearly see: Laura specialized in doubles - and that matters.

MEH. Consolation prize. Means nothing if your country doesn't win. Zverev was the TRUE MVP. He delivered the title for his country despite playing from behind due to Kerber's losses and then Siegumund was clutch in MX.

45 lat temu grałem w tenisa,spontanicznie.Od3lat ,już emeryt,woleje z każdej pozycji,Iga jesteś niesamowita,Hurkacz też ale, ty jesteś lepsza z dystansu i wolej przy siatce.Hurkacz gra statycznie(wsinglu)ale graja super z dystansu brak tj. miinimalnie atak szybki na siatke(tj.Sprint,dynamika)A nr.One jest w jego zasięgu.Może brak mu sprintu?Ty masz lga super, ale ja 67lat mam od was lepszysprint.Pozdrawiam was.Iga nie przejmuj się znudzonymi fanami,leniwcami tylko potrafią krytykować ,zrobiłaś tytaniczną prace.Pozdrawiam.😊

Sacha is the real MVP. He played 2 matches every single day nearly 4-5 hours and only slept 3 hours before final.. He carried the team through all the competition.
Iga received the MVP because she was the only player that didn't lost any single match in this tournament. That's why she was the most valuable player.
I understand why tournaments use sudden death in games and final sets in doubles for scheduling purposes in the early rounds, but I don't understand why this is now standard in later rounds as well.
What? The whole point ofUnited Cup is about unity at the start of the season via team format, countries playing each other, and highlighting mixed doubles. All of the major team tournaments (Davis, Laver, BJK, United) utilize doubles as a decisive element of the game. Reaching third sets depend on the players. If each wins a set then of course you go to a third. Doubles always has a deciding tiebreak. What are you on about? Sounds like you're mad Poland lost & are looking for ways around Germany's win by arguing the format. Zverev played amazing all tournament, Kerber delivered a crucial SF win, & Siegumund was gold in MX. That's tennis.

@@got2bjosh Doubles did not always have a deciding tiebreak, or sudden death at deuce. There was traditionally no difference in scoring between singles and doubles. What are you five? As the five year olds say, "Educate yourself." lol
