One. The first article is incorrect considering Drysdal wasn't Zegras' roommate any longer, the GM literally called Zegras a "cornerstone" of the franchise and more.
If Seravalli says it of the Ducks you should consider not listening.

@jomh832 no ducks fans put him on a pedestal. They just recognize that he is more than the medias portrayal of him. He isn't just a highlight goal player. To score 60+ points in a season twice, on a Dallas Eakins "lead" team with very little in the way of supporting cast is no small feat for a player his age.

The other GM’s don’t have leverage over Verbeek. PV is not going to take pennies on the dollar to trade him. Zegras doesn’t have a NTC clause and isn’t a year from unrestricted free agency.
They’ll take whatever they can get. He wants out, they want him out and no team is going to want him bad enough to trade a haul.

Every person citing information regarding Zegas and the Ducks seems to only attempt to push the two sides apart. You wanna play this out Verbeek has all of the leverage because he has 4 more years of RFA left. That means Zegras cannot “force” his way out unless he wants to sit out and ruin his career. It’s going to be a kings ransom if anyone wants Zegras. Always the Canadiens seem to be in the mix and yet when have those franchises ever traded with each other. None of what you mentioned is anything more than clap trap.
According to Pierre LeBrun, the latest rumor is that Kent Hughes is unwilling to pay the asking price for Zegras. Negotiations are apparently stalled. The draft is in two weeks; that's what they're concentrating on right now. Everyone is in Buffalo at the Combine.
I see more Zegras for Marner ? I don't know why but i believe both players need a new start or a three way . Kotkaniemi to ANaheim, Marner to Carolina and Zegras to Toronto !

IMO if Habs go for Zegras it would be for a 3 team deal. Montreal would not keep him as he is a child hiding in a mans body ..... BOOOOOHOOOO. I wouldn't trade the 5th overall pick, if that's what Anaheim is aiming for. Too much of a risk for MTL. I would try to use the Jet's pick that Montreal instead. They already have a top pick in the current draft, if they want the MTL 5th overall pick, I pass. I'm willing to add extras, like a prospect or a veteran, always depending who they wants of course (it also depends on who they pick on round 1).
Now, if it works, I think MTL would have to sit with the guy and set the expectations, more around the work ethic and attitude. I wouldn't give him more than a 3 year contract as his first contract, I would even tend to go with a 2 year and see how it goes.
I think this is the kind of situation that is risky but can pay a lot if it works. High risk, high reward, if he fits, that could be really interesting... but you need to be willing to take that risk.
Montreal needs to trade some prospects for impact players now whether it's Necas,KentJohnson,DawsonMercer,Perfetti whoever. But Zegras is American and this year had 15pts in 31gp. I'm not sure how he will take Cold/Taxes/Language/and pressure from Habs fans/media. He might want out again.
It's weird. It's not like the guys the kids had chemistry with were expensive. He liked playing with Milano they had chemistry and they don't even offer Milano a contract. He likes having Drysdale around and you trade him. I get they wanted Gauthier but considering the circumstances around that it seems like you could have gotten something done without including dudes best buddy. Say what you will about it being a business. Players have relationships and teams often will keep a guy around to satisfy another player and eat a contract or two. Zegras seems like the Kovalchuk where Atlanta just refused to help that guy out.
Ever since his contract negociations where Verbeek tried to lowball him, I have been saying that Kent Hughues would acquire him at the 2024 draft.

I am still not completely sold that both Zegras and the Ducks are so mutually miserable. IF the Ducks do decide to trade him it won't be on the cheap. They will hang on to him instead of letting him go at a discount. If the Habs want him as much as these same rumors suggest it would cost a minimum of their first pick (fifth overall) and a quality prospect. I can't see Verbeek letting him go for less from any team.
Best way for the lil ball of hate to get Zay-gras would be to trade him to the Flyers for Drysdale back so he can play for Torts & be 3k miles from Jamie D. again lolz...
