- Watch as NHL commissioner Gary Bettman announces multiple trades from the Montreal Canadiens, with the Canadiens trading Alexander Romanov to the New York Islanders for two draft picks & shipping those picks to the Chicago Blackhawks for Kirby Dach.

People here forgetting that nearly the entire Habs management is different now and that they should not expect the same mistakes of the past 5-7 years with player development.
As true as this is, this can be a double-edged sword: we can't expect the same mistakes again BUT we have NO IDEA what kind of mistake can happen! Let's call it a high risk, high reward mgmt team.
Personally, I'm hoping for a full rebuild where they'll let the new guys sit in the AHL this season so that we can end in the worst 5 teams again and expect another good draft. Once this' done, we'll be able to go all in for many seasons to come.
Tldr: Slaf, Mezar, Hutson in Laval for next year plz.

As I mentioned, I'd rather let our new guys develop with Laval so that we can have a chance for good prospect next years draft while not stumping the growth of our current talent.

He made the comment ‘ you are losing energy due to the booing not being so loud, he made that comment to fire up the bell centre faithful. So essentially the Canadiens traded Romanov, picks #66 & #98 for Dach.
I'd say that's quite a steal.
Romanov was a freebie 2nd round pick from Danault trade (for weisse & fleishman). Pick #38 in '18 + #66 & #98 in '22 for pick #3 of' 19, on paper its pretty good
Eh it could be a steal. They bought low on a prospect that has not lived up to his potential thru 3 years. If each develops into what he was supposed to be then it’s a steal, if he remains as is not really

I wanted the Habs to trade for the 2nd pick this year in order to get Slaf and Wright. I was willing to give a lot for this to happen.
Habs mgmt managed to get Slaf, keep some of its pick, trade a player they couldnt resign and grab a 3rd pick C from just a couple years back. I'd say I got my wish and then some!

I'm so excited about the habs again. Bergevin ruined them, and would complain about not getting better "it's too hard." Hughes has balls! I love it! They got bigger. They got a big talented center. Dach may even pass Suzuki to become the top center!

@@SmoothOperator2013 Tho bergevin brang a bunch of prospects who are almost ready for the nhl for example (Guhle,Kidney,Roy,etc). Bergevin also made some good steals like Pacioretty for Suzuki. Tho i do agree that he has done a lot of bad moves as well tho he isn’t the worst gm.

Because Kane and Toews only have 1 more year left on their deals, so you probably aren't gonna get enough for them to make it worth it to trade before the season. If either of them get shipped off it'll probably be at the deadline.

Romanov was a warrior for the Habs and a well liked player by the fans. Glad to see him doing well for the Isles. Best of luck Romy we miss you! I'd like to see the Isles get into the playoffs and do some damage.

Bettman gonna have to show us more respect cause in Québec the hockey is definitely our national sport and the NHL was first founded in Montréal in 1917 the 3 first leagues were in Montréal, Toronto, Ottawa and in Montréal we take the hockey very seriously and we take the competition in this sport to another level that's why we need of a second team, cause Montréal is in competition with the City of Quebec and than with the anglophone world and that you are english or french the competition still exist since the middle age we love to compete against each other it is a question of pride and we all wanna know who will win the same happened in the UFC with GSP and the same happened with Maurice Richard the Rocket, and Bettman keep bashing over Quebec and doesn't want to let us have the chance to win he feel the need to keep us under the table so we dont respect him either.. when he gonna show us more respect we will give him back the same level of respect ..

We've got plenty of left D, so we're gonna be ok. Especially with Guhle coming up next year, he could've made the team last year, so I'm confident.
Romy for 13th was sad but decent value wise. We could've gotten Nazar. Slaf and Nazar would've been palatable
How to get a first feeling about your trade: Go in Montréal, announce your trade at the mic, if the fans booed, you probably win the trade. If they jump off their seat after losing one of their favorite, maybe you just lose your trade. Chicago table don't look so enthousiastic at the end.
I am not a Hab fan, but I find it really odd that they have traded Romanov. Not only he was one of the fans favorites, was really good, but also now the D hasn't much depth and has much less grit. I would be really angry at the GM to have traded Romanov if I were a Hab fan.
