Gary was one of my top guitar players to have passed away that have influenced my guitar my blues playing. Gary Moore and Rory Gallagher. I owned every Gary Moore album, "Live Blues, 1993," with BB King was always my favorite to watch. BB would play a lead lick and Gary would play it note for note. BB said "You are hot tonight kid."

Folks, it doesn't matter if he sounds like Gary... Gary was unique and so is Joe. Stop that crappy negativity in your comments! Even if a beginner does his utter best to "copy" Gary you wont pour your crap on him. Everybody does his best- and for me it is an act of kindness from Joe to bow to Gary. Wether you can do better/sound better or not. Gary is no more with us- thats a real gap. But we still have Joe and other brilliant players. Lets enjoy us their music, their tributes but please... for f***s sake: Stop your negativity! The world is full of that crap!

This kind of raw palying is what I really love and miss somehow on the few last records from Mr. Bonamassa. I keep going back to his older concerts: A new day yesterday live, Rockpalast and Live from Nowhere in Particular. To me some of the best live albums out there!!!

Why do we compare this person with that person, when in fact we are all different. I would like to be able to play like Joe Bonamassa and would also like to play like Gary Moore but I can't. We all have strengths and we all have weaknesses. By the way Gary Moore is my favourite but then he is Gary Moore.

Hey Bill music isn't football or basketball you can't say Michael Jordan is/was better than Kobe but in sports you can, music is not a competition it's an art the only person you should compete with is yourself. take care. Mike.

@@mike1967sam Well said. Music isn't a competition, its about personal style and preferences. All the top players are exceptional, that's why they're top.

Everybody has a favorite guitarist or maybe 10..I have many..Joe is one if them..Eddie, Gary, Guthrie, Jimi, Eric Stevie..totally different ends of the spectrum..I don't compare I listen, learn and enjoy. Anyone can copy a guitarist but to become one of the guitarist on the guitar hero list you need to put in the time. Alot if great guitarist aren't commercialized..look at Steve Via..guitar god..but not as known as Eddie..same with Gales..I know them but I'm a guitar player.
Joe is Great and love what you're doing here..keep it going man !!

Ditto ~ my brother. Gary's Moore since the first time I seen him in 1982 became my fave. You can cover, play tribute to the decent man, add it to your repertoire + as you see all of are individual people. Hey, any body that I can do play note for note will never be Gary Moore or anyone from Thin Lizzy or Vandenberg. I know if I can revoke a memory that's cool but if I played any of them songs like the ' now' 12 year old Taj Farrant from Australia can. Gee, I wouldn't be covering them for in the moment - I would be Gary Moore. Just discovering ~

Well, hell, somebody ought to do a tribute to the greatest guitarist ever to live. I won't deign to comment on this tiny bit. Why has the music world not given GM at least a little credit for his unmatched abilities? I can tell you, because my husband and I once owned a publishing company. The music industry is 75% politics, 24% promotion, 1/2% who you know, and 1/2% talent. Sad, very sad.

The fact Gary was reluctant to leave Europe and later on didn't tour all that much may have something to do with it. Imagine Gary Moore selling bobbleheads, ashtrays, dildos, etc. Double bill, Bonnamassa/Moore....think Joe would want to follow Gary in his blues era prime? Think not.

No one plays like Gary Moore, or SRV or Jimi, because they were them. To appreciate them in the musical sense and learn something from them that might influence your career as a guitarist is a show of respect. To trash another musician because you think he doesn't sound like someone is like assuming everything YOU say or do is original, well no it isn't, although you are special aren't you, you little tart lol. Anyways, lets just enjoy the music that keeps it all alive. Peace.
