I was feeling frustrated and upset today because a piece of equipment was not working. I have gained perspective about how lame my feelings were, watching this mother show happiness in spite of such an unknown future for her child.
How do you know if he’s suffering or not? You don’t live with him do you? Have you met him in person? I’m guessing no so how can you possibly know if he’s suffering or not
@Poppyseed0990 what do you mean by the mind of a 13 year old though? He'd been out of utero on the Earth for between 13 and 14 years, so we designated him as 13, and he had a mind. A 13 year old with a mind has the mind of a 13 year old.

Apart from maybe 0 and 1, if you select any natural n and ask about the "mind of an n year old", there won't be a definitive answer as to its characteristics. Humans don't work like that. We're more complex than can be assigned to unrelated numbers.
In a weird way I bet she likes that her son may never properly grow up. I’m not a parent myself but I guess it’s like when you have a puppy and you never want them to grow up because they are so cute.
You didn’t have to say you’re not a parent, it’s obvious. When your child has a disability like this, all your hopes and dreams for that child are lost. They will never have a career, a spouse and children of their own, a LIFE. Not like a puppy at all.

You can have a happy life without working, without have a spouse or a children. Not everyone want to have a spouse or a children. The goal of life is not to do like other people but it is to do what you want to do.
