@herondelatorre4023 Obviously I was speaking specifically about the Netflix series "The Crown". If I were including the "REAL" Queen then my comment would have included the word "real". Your stupidity is overwhelming, but thanks for playing.
@herondelatorre4023 Again, I didn't forget the word "real" because I wasn't speaking of any "real" Queens. Why is that so hard for you to understand? You must be mentally ill.
I remember seeing the photo called "The three Queens." It had the three women in black mourning with the veils, Elizabeh the Queen Mother, Mary, and Elizabeth II.
It is a sad thing not to be able to grieve like everything else over the loss of a loved one in public. When Queen Elizabeth had to sit by herself during the burial of her beloved Prince Philip, all eyes were upon her. My heart did go out to her because of her loss. I may get pretty salty about the rest of the family, but I respect the late Queen. The loss of her Father was especially difficult since she was so far away. At least she had her beloved husband for support.
Felt most sorry for her in this scene because of all the information flooding in, most of all that her father had died. It is more difficult considering she was so far away and not by his side to say goodbye, then she had the responsibilities of reigning. May she rest in peace now that her reign lasted from that day to more than 70 years.
I’ve said it before, but it’s worth repeating, Elizabeth was the only British Monarch not to know the exact time she became Queen. With her beloved Papa dying in his sleep it was a guess that it was after midnight on 6th February.
@@michaelhayden725its noteworthy in this case, but I’d have a hard time believing this is the only time. Have no other reigning sovereigns died in their sleep?
As I understand it, over the last two or three centuries, English monarchs nearing death always had someone with them, most often their heirs and or wives.
The absolute look of pain, despair on Philip's face, how does he tell her that her adored Papa is dead? As I understand it, Elizabeth was not informed before they flew out of London how sick the King was and that he had at best months, if not weeks to live.
Her father purposefully didn't tell her how sick he was because he knew she would insist on staying home at his bedside if she knew, and he didn't want her to cancel her tour around the Commonwealth for him. I personally think he did so so she could have some fun as a Princess one last time before the responsibilities of the crown were thrust upon her, something he didn't get when his own brother abdicated so suddenly. He knew better than anyone just how soul crushing those responsibilities would be for her, so better to let her go have some fun away from home one last time with her beloved husband as Princess Elizabeth, before she would have to kill that part of her and become The Queen.
Incredible and spot on acting by everyone. But Foy outdid them all by just the very faint change in facial expression. The very best acting is done that way
I always think of the haunting photograph of the Queen returning home, and pausing at the top of the steps as she leaves the plane. What must she have been contemplating at that moment?
Strange that it was so well known and often mentioned that the Queen was in a treehouse hotel, actually called "Treetops" that the scene was filmed in a house firmly on the ground.
I wonder if there were budget reasons that they couldn't film in the actual Treetops Hotel (it burned down in 1954 but was rebuilt and stayed open until 2021)?
And perhaps the saddest part of all was that those few minutes of the Duke of Edinburgh consoling her over her father's death would be the ONLY time she'd get to mourn him as her father's daughter for quite some time before she instantly had to respond as her father's heiress- immediately sending out regrets before getting ready to return to Great Britain to take over the crown and top position. It's not surprising that it would become her personal tradition to venture to Sandringham every February 6th whenever possible- to reflect on her father's life!
I can not imagine how the weight of this must have hit her. I can not imagine not only losing a parent in 1 day but also becoming a sovereign of a nation. The combination of both is cruel. There was no time to mourn, and I am certain she adored her father. It's just so tragic
