These are some of my favorite Aquarium Coop videos. The staff opinions on species and community combination suggestions are helpful to me as a beginner. The b roll is great payoff too.
Might be a good idea to add juvenile white clouds same time as lots of food? And also put shrimp in first and let them settle a day or so before adding other fish.
I have a 29 gallon cherry shrimp tank. I started putting my culls into my 55 community tank. That tank has a full grown Opaline gourami, 10 red eye tetras, 7 zebra danio, like 15 endlers, a few kuhli loaches, a few corydora and like 8 black neon tetras. My shrimp breed like crazy in that tank. I do 25% water change once a week and feed pretty heavily. The tank is super densely planted and the ground is covered in spider wood sticks(the bag of them from you guys) and moss. I counted all visible shrimp a few months ago and stopped at 200. Probably well over 400 in the tank. It's crazy.
Also I had a betta in a 5 gallon with about 20 orange neos. The neos started breeding and everything was doing great. I woke up one morning and the betta was dead. He was stuffed with shrimp and had one in his mouth. He went on a killing spree and ate himself to death. There were shrimp parts everywhere. There was one survivor.
I dont think I will ever get tired of the unboxings. Great bunch of fish. Robert, you do a really good job of educating a little bit each time on the types of fish.
I have a heavily planted co2 aquarium with a colony of Blue Dream's populating wonderfully with a nice size shoal/school of Chili Rasbora's. My fish could care less about seeing any shrimp out even the babies, probably as young as a week old. It's awesome to see.
My Betta only cares about blue shrimps, he'll leave the red ones alone unless he's hungry or something. My working theory is that he doesn't like other blue things in his tank
I once watched a female cherry shrimp, big girl, standing her ground, munching away on her piece of food while four of the guppies were trying to take it from her. No fear, she just kept going at it.
im glad im not the only dork, I was so exited to see the fish being unboxed. great video, that was exactly the info I was looking for. thanks guys did enjoy this videos
A long time ago, I was in a snow storm and the power was out for days. There was no fuel for the generator and I lost almost everything when my tanks all froze. One of the only things to survive were my "Blue Lobsters." They did change though. They became a brilliant red color. Corey's red cherry shrimp that had ice over them may have had another factor in that brilliant color development. No proof on my end, I just don't favor coincidence.
My dumbo ear betta argues with the shrimp over food. LOL. I've seen him flare at a shrimp that took his worm. Fish are funny and shrimp are fearless when food is involved.
Agreed, my female Amano's will take food away from my Neons and Julii Cory's... the smaller males will make a run at it but they're less able to scare the fish off.
I work for another online shipping company and it's always fun when we get a famous name. Probably not the actual famous person, but it's still fun to imagine
I’m currently keeping a neocaridina shrimp colony in my heavily planted 15 gallon tank with 4 pea puffers.. surprisingly had been a great combination for the last almost 2 years now :O
I have shrimp in a tank with pygmy corys and neon tetras. Besides sometimes eating the REALLY small babies the shrimp seem perfectly fine with them - they don't hide or anything, just move out of the way if one touches them.
My female Amano's will take food away from my Neons and Julii Cory's... the smaller males will make a run at it but they're less able to scare the fish off.
@@rennkafer13 That doesn't surprise me. Some of my female cherry shrimp will do the same, particularly from the more "aggressive" (like active, not dangerous) tetras who try to take food from them (there is some overlap on what both like to eat).
I swear if I close my eyes and listen to this, all I can see is in place of Robert, we have crush from finding Nemo doing the unboxing 😂 smmookeesss maaaann
This was a great unboxing concept to cover! I’ve had a betta live with cherry shrimp until he started getting bloodworms. I think he associated red with food after that.
I remember the time I had cherry shrimp. They ended up in the HOB and surprising lived in there for a couple weeks. Sadly when I found them and returned them to the tank my fish thought I was adding food for them and didn’t hesitate to eat them.
My bettas both my plakat female and 2 longfinned bettas seem to leave my shrimp alone in their respective tanks. Blue dwarf gourami though ate them all like skittles
I've got LOADS of cherry shrimp in my 40 gallon breeder and started with 3, too many to count. The tank also homes 6 blue rams and a bristle nose. It is heavy planted and has tons of dragon stone. I feed them twice a day and seem to have no problems with the GBR's eating the shrimp. Temps at 84 also so the high temp doesn't seem to bother them. I'm probably going to need to take some shrimp out soon. Tank is spotless though so its not too bad of a thing right now.
That's a large amount of water, once you start going over 100g there's not a whole lot you can't keep. Cory could spend hours listing combos of fish that could go in a 125g, but it doesn't mean you'll like them. Honestly, I'd recommend going to your LFS and seeing what catches your eye. Then you can just ask an employee for the care requirements and what fish are compatible. Have fun with it.
Definately don’t put crayfish in with your small shrimp. Or with your fiddler crabs. Or anything slower than a crayfish. In fact, probably best to keep those ravenous beasts in a gumbo.
The Walrus I had a big female crayfish in my cherry shrimp tank and she seemed to think they were her babies, they crawled all over her, never got aggressive with them, she’d crawl around the tank with one riding on her head like a crown. The tank was a moderately planted 10 gallon, which I upgraded to a 20 gallon
Can I keep different types of shrimp together? I have some Amano in my community tanks and want to set up a shrimp tank with other types of shrimp what do you recommend?
I've got neocardinia, ghost shrimp, amanos, and bamboo shrimp in my shrimp/ snail tank. It works out really well between them and the ottos/ dwarf corries
I've got 4 Pea Puffers with 6 Ghost Shrimp and it's the funniest thing to watch ever, but none of the Ghost Shrimp have been killed by them. They get away pretty quick, and Pea Puffers see Red very easily, so the translucent ghost shrimp can do whatever they want and be safe. I say Cherry shrimp and the like would be a blood bath.
I have a thriving population of cherry shrimp in my planted tank with three round, fancy goldfish. The goldfish are too slow to catch those crafty cherry shrimp. I can barely catch them myself! Wouldn’t suggest this setup for the single tailed varieties though.
Well, this answered a few questions I had. Shame Betta's are 50/50. I always see them in the stores and feel sorry for the fish in a little 6 oz cup of water.
i have cherry shrimp in my on tank and i wanna get more for the rest now, my gf surprised me with 5 and its been about a month and there all still there. i was worried about my fish eating them but they fit in!
Question. Do you mind customers walking in your store and looking at your fish without buying anything? I currently live at home and can't get a fish tank until i move out. Every so often i go to my local fish store in the grand rapids michigan area because i love the fish hobby, and love looking at how beutiful the fish can be. I just want a fish tank so badly and it kinda distracts me from life for that split second of admiring everything. I feel bad that i don't buy anything though. Just want to see what your opinion is since it isn't a "Zoo" if you get what I mean.
We don't mind if someone is just looking. If you're asking tons of questions and preventing employees from helping other customers or servicing tanks etc, it becomes a problem.
@@AquariumCoop I don't ask any questions or stop any of their employees from doing buisness. I just mind my own business. Most the time they are the ones coming up to me asking if i need any help and i just say no and that i am just browsing. Just wanted to see what you thought about it. Thank you for the answer. I really appreciate it.
I got my shrip in a 5 gallon tank (iknowiknow too many fish ) with 5 neon tetras, 2 zebra danios and a otosictus. Loaaads of plants, airstone in there, small filter, mossballs, driftwood and they are doing amazing. They are breeding, got baby shrimp now. I thought they would get eaten or sucked up in the filter (which woulndt necessarily be a bad thing since my tank is already a bit full) however they are doing so wel, I got about 10/15 baby shrimp growing bigger and bigger) . So I'll have to give them away at some point... or buy a bigger tank XD also got about 50 snails I there.... arggh what do I do about that? Don't want to use any chemicals, now that everything is balanced nicely
I had a dwarf gourami in my heavily planted 20 gallon, along with cherry shrimp and kubotai rasboras. I would still have it, but it died from dwarf gourami irodovirus and I don't want to risk having another one die.
So I have a 15 Gal tank that I used for my baby rearing, I turned it into a well planted cherry shrimp tank, I have a small colony of blood worms in there, I threw in 3 of my baby panda Cory’s in to eat those worms, are my baby shrimp safe with them?

Can I have neons tetra or cardinal tetras with cherry shrimp??
wow, cool "does this go in shrimp tank?" thats very cool idea for an unboxing i like that nj wit that one. Very enjoyable
These are some of my favorite Aquarium Coop videos. The staff opinions on species and community combination suggestions are helpful to me as a beginner. The b roll is great payoff too.
White clouds absolutely decimated my cherry shrimp colony in a nano. I went from 40+ shrimp to a few haunted stragglers. I couldn't believe it!
Might be a good idea to add juvenile white clouds same time as lots of food? And also put shrimp in first and let them settle a day or so before adding other fish.
Interesting, my white clouds never bother my shrimp in my 10g.
mine control the bladder snail population very greedy fish

It was nice to see Robert in person last Saturday when I bought my birthday gift for myself, a baby pea puffer.
Whoa, I hadn't thought of adding shrimp to my neon green rasbora tank! Thanks for the idea :)
The flower that betta reminded me of was a hibiscus Robert.
Yay love these unboxings! You will be missed in these Jimmy!!
I liked this a lot! You Guys should do this with the upcoming unboxings too! It’s very helpful
Being interested in setting up a tank with shrimp, maybe a vid about setting up first community tank with shrimp?
Robert reminds me of a young Cory
Not sure it will be as enjoyable without Jimmy filming and his great b-roll shots.
MB Dieter where did jimmy go?

Hibiscus tail Betta. The way I remember Apistogramma is " a pissed Granma". Thanks guys for another great unboxing.
My Betta only cares about blue shrimps, he'll leave the red ones alone unless he's hungry or something. My working theory is that he doesn't like other blue things in his tank
Its funny, my blue half moon betta occasionally gets harassed by my female Amano shrimp lol.
Same! Stare down and everything..
I read Amano shrimp are aggressive at times and take on everything

Dang must be one chill puffer I have one in a 10 gallon tried adding ramshorn from my main to help clean the algae they don't live to see the next day
Kuhli Loaches definitely do eat dead shrimp but I haven’t seen them attack any live ones so far.
