i remember that update! i was similar to Rox i made a video showing off the note blocks some 45 mins after the update launched, it played LOZ:OOT ocarina inputs, but i never uploaded it anywhere and kept it on a thumbdrive to show my classmates in computer class it, sadly, whilst i still have that thumbdrive til this day, the video had since been removed to make space for other files during a computer swap, and the og hardrive that contained the world file had since been lost to time. good to see someone cares about us vets still
The news is awesome!! I can’t see there being an older piece of music, but don’t give up the hunt. Great work to those that helped and to yourself for putting it all together.
I know it’s probably futile, but I’ll try to talk to some people and see if I can find any contacts for Illford. Seems like they were pretty active in the furry community, so I may possibly be able to find something based off that or contact someone that knows them. Edit: found their old furaffinity account. Sadly, it hasn’t been touched in over 4 years. I’ll keep looking. I’ll try to contact some people linked on there.
Aww, it kinda sucks you gave up on ChoclateSailor immediately after finding the video that was only slightly older by chance. The moment that popped up, you seemed to drop all mention of them and no one cared anymore. They were still part of Minecraft history, and I was quite invested in their story. Awesome that the other person was still active, though, and actually had the world!
Who would have guessed Minecraft History was more than patches and feature changes? Love this kind of work you do PaladinRyan! (And here I want to say KEEP FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT!) lol
I love videos like this, exploring these old/lost pieces of content, and it makes me so much more sad about Google's recent decision to that they are going to delete old inactive Google accounts, which also means deactivating old TH-cam accounts that host videos such as ChocolateSailor's.

Maybe they just become lurkers or really managed to sever links to their old accounts. It was a lot easier back then to dump accounts for alts or other sites without people recognising you
I feel like a lot of the time they change their usernames on a large scale, probably wanting to be disconnected from what they were like as a kid/teen, and they just leave all the old accounts behind
There is a recording from the beta before the release from the Dev team somewhere on the web... I listened to it forever ago when I had a deep Minecraft phase...
Another great video! I'm so happy I've discovered you when you posted the Forgotten Maps maps video so I can support you from the beginning Sorry for any mistakes, I'm not a native English speaker
How about Noteblock Dev Test worlds? It may not be recorded in youtube but they're the first worlds that has the noteblocks. I don't know much about the noteblocks like who came up with the idea from Mojang or who is the one coded the blocks on the game.
So the oldest media of note block history might be in the hands of a blue wolf furry that we dont even known if theyre still alive? Man thats some copypasta worthy shit
I wonder if you can recreate the song, because the colored notes that came from the note blocks can be traced to notes (I think), and he does turn, so I think that someone could recreate it

So im not really sure why im commenting this... sorry im an OG mc player but I cant exactly remember everything 8+ years ago. I could try pulling out a name but it'll just fail.
