Back in ancient times these guys would be elite messenger runners.
lol!
lmfao bro
Nah man, they used to use humans as couriers even when we were using horses. Even the very modern marathon is modeled after the Battle of Marathon, where an Athenian runner ran 40km or so to deliver news of their victory, and they had horses in that battle. As late as WWII we had foot soldiers running messages. Sometimes a horse isn't practical.
They didn't use horses in real shitty, hilly terrain, rocky, terrain.
Nasty McJackass a
YO !!! They talking during that run asking questions to each other like it is nothing .. " Where we at?? " " About three left man.. " IF I EVER maintain a sub 6 min mile, no words will be breathed.... great job team.
Lmao I was wondering about that too. But tbh, at that pace I would die by like the 3rd or 4th mile
Same like I could mabye fo for half their run then I'd be dead
Lol!!!!
I did🤟🏾🔥
Zack Lang lmao, unless you’ve been running for a year or two, no.
these guys will finish a mile before you're done watching the video
lol nice comment :D
Not even a joke
Not even that hard I can run a 5:20 and I was fat af a year ago
A mile isn’t that hard in 5 minutes.
I could finish a mile before finished this video but there is no way in hell I could do what they did.
I love these comments bashing the size of these runners or comparing them to football players. You aren't going to run this pace if you are jacked it is just unnecessary weight same as how if one of these runners were to step on a football field they would get split in half. Athletes train for their specific sport this isn't hard to understand.
Smart logic👍😎
When I was an Army officer big muscle bound guys would gas out after two miles while the rest of us could easily finish six. Cross country runners, soccer players, basketball players and boxers were the best conditioned endurance athletes. Bodybuilders and football players could not finish our daily six mile runs
.
Eric Handley yeah that’s what I thought till I saw a ex college football player run a 7:00 mile in a half actually probably a little less I think it was 6:40 some he was about 6’3 220 lbs of freak beast the only reason I knew he played college ball is cause my division leader also played college ball and knew the guy from playing against him. But I see what you’re saying there always gonna be genetic outliers
35353535 353535 no one is saying that so shut up
This guy obviously is oblivious to the monster runners the military has... never heard of Goggins?
Man look at their form, perfect. Still standing upright 12 miles in. These dudes are monsters.
Not too bad, a good hs kid could run close to these times.
@@420jettt2 that's not the point🤦🏿♂️they were running hills basically the whole entire time
ClickB8 what I’m saying is that this ain’t shit to them
420jettt you’re kidding right? not true at all except for like the top nxn and fl finishers
jason latina ez for these runners, not a fast hs kid
I just lost 5lbs by watching them run
Lolllllllllllll
I can help you find it. Where did you take it last?
Chia-Chun Hsu lol
hahaha
I'm proud of myself for even finishing an entire 12 mile run, running it at that pace though? That is just superhuman, wow.
Katya Harte and it’s only they’re recovery run
And to think Eliud Kipchoge ran 26.2 miles (Berlin Marathon) at a 4:38 pace.
barchetta575m makes ya wonder
its just called training and will :)
It’s really not superhuman. If you wanna see super human see Eliud kipchoge😂😂
Damn 5:30 miles on hills no less. These boys are in shape!!
these guys would survive a zombie chase
But what if these guys turn into zombies first? We would have serious problems.
Lol!
@@Tideman11 Omg I never thought of it that way😂😂
There coach explains it like its nothing
Brendon Earl what the fuck
Brendon Earl their*
He is a good coach, but a great coach would run with them.
They're listening to their coach who was there to instruct them.
Even better coach would let them run on him
We got cliff bars, some mixed nuts
Front of car: DEEEEZZZZ
MMCXII 2 years late, but they actually said cheese

Stay aerobic, start at 5:45 and work to sub 5:20. I like these guys, that is insane.

LMAO
OMEGALUL
LMFAO
These people aren't normal. I don't know how they do that
Teo Practice
practice makes perfect
B9 Curse If it was that easy I would be pro right now
Teo They have been training here whole life. So it isn't just that easy. They have been working hard there whole life, that is why they are good at what they do.
B9 Curse I'm 17, been running 9 years. I'm faster than most but these athletes are another level.
These dudes are like training for a half marathon instead of Cross Country 😆
10-15 mile runs are the long days, every monday
Not really they're just building that aerobic base up and increasing mileage and they're consistent about it too that means doing the hard sessions really hard and the easy sessions really hard so they're not living in the fray zone
Jack Reen do you mean they’re doing easy sessions really easy? Also what’s the fray zone?
Training aerobics
In order to be good at cross country you can't just do 6k's every day. Hella long runs build the aerobic base required to pump out a fast 6 kilometers. 800 meter track runners need an elite aerobic capacity too, even for shorter distances, in order to maintain a blistering pace you must run significantly longer than what you will run in competition.
I could keep up with these.... for about 300m ha. So impressive.
No you couldnt
F R 300 m ain’t that far tbh
@@xoticwanka7065 300m isn't that far lol
On the first hill i`d be dead
Ok I've run that far before but that pace?!
Sammy Stearman ran*
Sammy Stearman i think its in km which means its more of a 8:51 min/mile pace
It's not in km
That is miles my friend, these are some really fucking fast guys!
Sammy Stearman lmao my best 12 miler is 6:47 pace lolol on flag ground
This is one of the videos that motivated my lazy ass to run a mile in 5:30 about a year ago.
Started at 8 min and now down to 6 min on average. Best time was 5:50. Still got a few seconds to go to reach my goal.
To run at that pace for 13 miles is just insane. I can barely survive my 1 mile.
What has been your progress?
@@chickennoodlesoup6397 I have been stuck at 5:50 (that's my average now) for about a year and a half now.
I can't seem to get past it, but last week I have been trying to do a little "running program" in hopes of getting faster.
for example, on Mondays, im running 3 miles at a comfortable pace to hopefully gain more stamina for that 1 mile.
Wednesday's, i run the 1 mile as fast as i can and i do 6 timed hill sprints after.
Friday, i run 1 mile as fast as i can again, and after, i pick a long distance (two neighborhood streets long) and i try to sprint the whole way as fast as i can without slowing down.
i can't sprint all the way, but the goal is to be able to sprint the whole distance eventually.
Hopefully that helps me get that 5:30 mile..even 5:00
"let the hills do the work for you" lol that must be where I've been going wrong 😂
I just ate a whole pizza and i'm breathing hard.
I love running in group. Now that I'm older, it's really hard to find time to do this with my friends. Good job guys.
I train too. About 5-10 kms everyday but these guys are on next level.
Rolling hills. Great way to train. .keep up the good work guys!!!
They ain't even breathing hard😂😂
My fastest 1600m (1 mile) is 5:24 in district finals👍 how in the hell are these guys 12 miles at an average of 5:20👌😱
Landon Erickson district finals in what? 7th grade?
Omar Rubio no 8th grade
Landon Erickson it's not possible
Landon Erickson my mile in sophomore year highschool was a 5:21
Landon Erickson they earned it by consistent quality training. No drugs no alcohol.
At 5:41 "We don't wake up every morning to be second best." That's a motivational statement. Too bad the video said that Oklahoma was #9 when this video was made...but the workout looked impressive.
What are these dudes 8-10K times? I mean literally this "workout" averages like sub 17 5K pace for like 4 5Ks in a row on hills, that's probably worthy of like a sub 30 10k on the track
Update yeah a couple of them are sub 30 and the rest pretty close
Why are you here lol
Huttz001 he’s a runner lol he’s practically on every kinda known running vid like this one trying to cause trouble and what not cause he’s a big youtuber
Jack Bolger ok
I'm a fetus and I can run a mile in 1:32
Were you escaping an Obama abortion clinic?
Oscar Jay sure matey.
Boi you slow
My parents Aren’t even born and I run a 0.000000000001
Mile
Fast mom
Slow
I ran xc in high school mostly to get in shape for wrestling and I’m not built for distance running but was actually okay at it but it gave me a ton of respect for elite distance and middle distance runners, takes crazy dedication and even then the right build and genetics. It still blows me away watching guys like this just knowing I could work my tail off and these guys would still blow my doors off by the end of mile one. So impressive and I still love running to this day even though I suck at it lol.
Damn these guys are like horses! They just don't stop!
I like that 5:30 miles is taking it easy. My fastest lifetime fastest 3 mile run was like 18:00 - 6 minute miles for three miles. I'm, comparatively totally decrepit now, I jog 2 1/2 miles at probably way over 10 minute miles. Look how lean and mean these kids are - tearing it the fuck up. Good job. Sort of inspiring or depressing for me. In the video they're starting to go sub 5:30.
Well, they aren't exactly taking it easy, they were doing an uptempo run, meaning it's faster than easy pace but slower than a tempo run.
I refuse to believe this type of run would only be a 15/20 effort-wise. Either it was harder or these guys are in insane shape.
I mean, these guys are college XC runners. They're definitely in insane shape, as I could probably hold that mile pace for 2 miles, not 12
Dude, you gotta be in insane shape to keep that pace for 12 miles. These dudes are the running elite.
I live 3 miles away from this rd. I run it almost everyday ever since watching this video
Look at all these experts in here..
And to think I had the audacity to be proud of myself for keeping an 8 minute pace.
Saaaammmeee
They deadass just ran my mile record for that 1st mile😂💀 they look like they’re resting..., while I was borderline dead at the end of that 5:45
Mad respect goes out to these guys. The greatest thing about running...you can do it for life while at the same time reverse the aging process. Shout out to the guys in this video.
To think that someone ran two times this distance at a 30 Second faster pace is insane
That is damn impressive. I played football in H.S. and had very good foot speed (1st string right CB) but had never run distance and then when I joined The Corps of course they like to run...after boot and ITR I got stationed in D.C. but lived in Quantico. I used to run the foot paths thru the hills around Quantico and got in the best shape of my life...ran the 3 mile PFT run in 17:22 (The max score requires under 18 minutes), which looks like these gentlemen could do that in their sleep, but I was carrying more weight, at 5'11" and about 180 lbs.
I can only do 4 or 5 miles at the same pace but 12 is INSANE, AMAZING!!!
This sport is nothing but mental how much pain can you tolerate, how much are you willing to push your heart.
I used to do runs like this but shorter and slower but still all fun :)
well how is it a run like this then?
@@mikkihintikka7273 I think that's the joke

This video makes me excited for cross country season! :)
The fact that they're conversing 9 miles in is insane 😂
4:30 that car should be in the febreze commercial for how bad it probably smells😂
4:10 he just kept on runnin
Probably fell asleep and didn't realized they were finished.
It's cause he's the best from the team he always has to run an extra mile
that terrain reminds me of my first marathon in Montana. It's hard getting up those hills but really makes your flat road runs alot easier
Wow thats blazing
2:39 The rabbit is like, "you call that running?" "I ain't even gonna move because I know y'all can't catch my ass."
2:39 “don’t hit the rabbit” 😂
I get inspired, thanks for your sharing, keep up your good pace!
sophomore in high school, I run a 6:30 for my TEMPO runs. this shit is just crazy. man I've gotta hit the trails lol!
I’ve never been much of a runner, but my fastest mile ever was a 5:15, i was so stoked celebrating in my exhaustion, here these guys are running around that pace mile after mile lol
This got me pumped for next year. No more JC for me after this hopefully 😃

This video always pumps me up!
These guys are genetic machines
it’s not genetics
@@Postermaestroah you don't know that.
Don’t insult the people’s hard work with genetics stupid kid
@Dovakiin seventeen Says one thing about genetics "genetics this genetics that you're an innate coward"
take it easy there.
@Jack D. Ripper vo2 max is generally not really relevant like the specific value of it. Many top level distance runners don’t have a super high vo2 max like in the high 80s but they’ve maxed out their genetic capability and therefore they’re still really fast. Most peoples vo2 maxs aren’t limited by genetics they just simply don’t train enough to reach their genetic maximum. The same with lactate threshold like yes you can be born with a high threshold but you need to train in order to maintain it and even without the right genetics via the proper training you can get a similarly high lactate threshold
My mike run in 7th grade was 6:38 and I went first so y’all r crazy good
This video is legendary on my XC team
MAN!! i wish I was There traning With You guys Great Stuf
i wish i could do this but im just finishing up my first season of xc as a junior in HS and am only hitting a 18:20 for my 3 miles, maybe one day
SirLlama2000 Hey still faster than me. I'm so inconsistent. It's my third year and I still run 22. But my 1500m for track is 4:57. I'm not cut out for anything longer than a mile
rowlieflores I
I ran a 5k in 21:23 and I am only 10
Taylor Pickford 😶impressive 😏
Jake McCoy is right but I am going to add this okey stop lying
Why does this 4 year old video I watched 4 years ago keep appearing in my recommendations?
WHY ARE YOU RUNNING!??
They just felt like runnig
Because they are tough and ambitious probably unlike y..

beautiful running rythm!!
Course descriptions be like ... "gently rolling hills"..
viviileee and then you walk
The trail and you’re like what the fuck is a gently rolling hill in their mind
i know that there's a zone that you get in where it feels easier to keep running than it does to stop. but doing that for 12 miles, while doing hills is insane
Man I know their bodies are great and all, like they have the physical tools but I gotta say their mental toughness to maintain or go faster than the initial pace WITH hill is inhuman, those hills are no joke
Ran at OU in the late 80s. Never heard of this road. We never ran it.
I paused the video a few times just so they could get some rest.
What's the music starting at 2:15? Btw these guys are awesome
Outstanding job!
I'm 36 year now I pray I can get that fast again. I remember I'd feel like I was floating on air after not running for 2 days
i like the muisc in your vids
I just love watching them run mile after mile.
Dudes voice is pitched higher than a satellite
I ran 4 miles yesterday, just under 8 minute miles and i felt like god damn usain bolt 2.0 marathon version ... humbled. these kids are beasts.

Unbelievable level of fitness... hats off
I could probably keep up with them for the first 100 yards
Joe S i could keep up for a mile.
crni_tekac I can only for 1200
I can't believe consistent 5:30 mile and below is considered aerobic activity for them. I'm definitely in anaerobic mode after just one mile at that pace.
1:34 what's the song name ?
simply awesome guys..
I used to run *ALL THE TIME* for like 7 to 10 miles a day, and I have no clue how this is possible. I really dont.
inspiring! I hate hills but they do help you get faster and better...
These guys look like they’re doing it so effortlessly lmao. When I do 6 min pace for 4 miles my form looks a lot more intense...
i think maybe because they’re taller 🤷♂️
their endurance is INSANE
so 12miles thats about a 19km run and 5.20min mile that about 18.10 kph.
Average 3min20 sec per km.
Great Job guys. Appreciate it. Keep doin it.
The coach reminds me of ty from dude perfect. I don’t know why
*Start out with an easy 5:45 and work to low 5:20

Thats pretty fast for 12 miles... Great job!

I ran a 5:35 mile in 9th grade, doing this for 12 miles straight up and down hills is impressive.
And then a pro runner arrives, and they realized they are average.
The beauty of non runners commenting on the Internet.
My biggest piece of motivation is this video. This year i ran a 630 and in two i know I'll keep a sub 6 for 4miles clean.
