Wow all the previous videos I've seen haven't done justice. Seeing your land from the air was incredible. Basically got your own province in Thailand. Your own forest and everything 😅 amazing Leigh
Thanks mate. It was a bit surreal even for Toon and I seeing it from above. We'd only ever seen a Google Earth shot before this. We're really looking forward to developing the back area of the farm come the dry season. It's a large area so we may have to do half then wait to do the rest.
Thanks for the aerial tour, my friend. It was very interesting. I understand what you said about the "snakeheads," but you've got to be anxious to get one on a hook and then on a plate. I admire you and Toon's relationships, Leigh. Always look forward to your next post. Take care mate
Thanks for the drone footage that would be a great way for you to keep a time stamp of the farms developments over time, future family can look back at how you's guys built up the farm. Keep enjoying please keep filming. 🙏❤️🐐🐟☔☀️🙏
Yes Great Arial shot put your whole farm into perspective, Its great you giving a farm tour but that clip shows just how much work you & toon have put into it, You should give a small aerial post farm tour, You need to get your own drone just think of the things you can film i.e. close up fish in the middle of the lake fish feeding close up goats playing hide 7 seek in the tall grass lol, All Thai women are scary don't tell my Mrs that. Toon's train tour's mmm your Mrs. has been out in the sun to long 😂
I'm a little concerned about the safety features in place for Toon's Train Tour. Just how tight are those knots going to be?! Thanks for sharing the overview Leigh, especially considering the traumatic day you had filming.
I never realised quite how big your land is! I didn't realise it was 40 Rai, although you may have told us and I'm just thick. Great vlog as always Leigh, thank you so much for sharing. Hope that you don't get too much rain all at once like you had before. Now don't forget that you will need a Green Flag and a Red Flag plus a whistle for the Guard on Toon's Train Tour, plus some weapons to keep the dangerous caterpillars at bay if anyone falls off the rails into hostile jungle territory. God bless you both 😀❤🙏
Thanks for that mate. It's been nice for Toon and myself to be able to see the farm's transformation from above. Sometimes we forget the size of our land and the changes that have been made. Still a long way to go, but hopefully with people's input and ideas, we can finish developing the back of the farm during the upcoming dry season.
Great video, and a testament to the incredibly hard work and emotional effort you and Toon have put into it. It's been an education, and an inspiration, watching the transformation of the farm take place. I really don't know where you get the drive and energy from!
They are fantastic for crayfish ponds & tanks. The Apple snails make thousands of babies that the crayfish eat. In facet they eat all of them. You just have to be carfeul not to keep any large Apple snails with baby crayfish or some will get eaten when they moult their shells.
Now that I’m 73 my limitations are more obvious to me. Seeing your property and you two working the place without help is certainly a challenge I would not be capable of taking on. Then realizing you don’t even have a tractor with multiple attachments amazes me. Obesity certainly isn’t in your future! The arial photos were interesting and showed your property to be quite large. Perhaps 20 acres or more. Hard to tell from photos as the tend to make things look larger. Your pond layout is also interesting. Not sure I understand what you were planning but I’m guessing you know the plan intimately! You have made a good life for yourselves but not an easy life of leisure. Over time these things will become bigger challenges for both of you. Perhaps an orphanage or foster home to give children a second chance at life might be in your future. Raising future farmers so to speak.
Great video, thanks for that. Your farm is a real credit to u guys. On your eucalyptus area. If me,ide put stemcel bananas. You've got water.get returns end of 1st year. Plant them between western new year and Thai new year. Because that's a good time to be selling. Just my shitty opinion. Whatever u do I'm keen to follow the journey. 😁🙏
I think it would be a great place to put a tropical fruit forest on the island ,bananas , papayas, avocados and other tropical fruits that you can harvest sell and eat
That's not beyond the realms of possibilities. We'll have to wait until the far end of the farm has been developed then we'll reassess the island. But yes, it'd look amazing 👍
Congratulations on what you have achieved over the last few years. The farm is expanding nicely in a wonderful environment. I know it's not always easy and there are pitfalls, but you always manage to jump and get through it. Very lucky are the people who have already managed to come to you and experience this miracle live. Wouldn't it be worth keeping sheep in addition to goats? They are also good lawn mowers and unpretentious animals. 😊 I wish you success, perseverance and luck in your life together and on the farm. ❤
Thank you so much for your kind words. We've definitely found our Happy Place in life. I think we'd have given up a long time ago when we going through some dark times with the goat herd. We quite like sheep but goats are better suited to Thailand's tropical climate (rainy season) as they eat higher off the ground. We also now finally feel confident & competent goat farmers. If we went into acquiring new livestock we'd probably get a few pigs that are more hardly.
Hi there Toon and Leigh! How much did it for you to dig that size of a lake? Your land is very beautiful and inspirational to where I want to retire and start a farm. I'm really considering Thailand as my end goal and I want to grow crawfish just like you are. I'm moving to Thailand next year and I'm wondering if it's possible to come by your farm and learn from you. I wouldn't mind paying you for your time! Thank you!
Hi idkyoo, thanks for your kind words mate. It's taken a long time to get where we are now (6 years living on the farm.) For the first 2 years we didn't know what direction we wanted to go in & made loads of mistakes (some costly.) Now we're focused on the direction we've settled on & things are progressing nicely. The lake cost about $11,000 in total. $3,000 was unforseen alterations after the epic floods we had 2 years ago. Stocking was about $1,000 (half of that was our 6 Mekong Giant Catfish.) We offer our village house for accommodation (3 minutes away from the farm) & breakfast/ evening meals with us. Karaoke is optional lol.
@@TLFarm Hey, thanks for taking the time to reply! I'm definitely interested in the farm stay. Very excited to learn from you, I've actually been watching your videos for over a year now maybe close to two. I used to manage and operate a large crawfish restaurant in the bay area so I want to bring that experience to Thailand with me. I'm sorry to hear about the flood. I've been following this other guy who just recently lost all his rice due to this recent flood in the past weeks. I'm looking into water diversion plans and Chinese nature water soaking landscape to combat the heavy floods. Anyways, I'm very serious about coming to the farm stay. Where can I get more info and how much am I looking at? I'm moving to Thailand early 2024 around February.
@@TLFarm I've commented way too early in the video. I continued it and seems you have laid out the information lol. Anyways I've checked out your website!
Nice to see the farm from the air mate, I'm getting my worms ready for all the big fish in that lake, Mrs Crabtree must be quaking in her boots 😜 I would be too.. Ps. I don't actually support stoke believe it or not.. I'm an Arsenal supporter 🤣 If one of our kids were boys it would've been called Henry, but we would've called him the French pronunciation behind closed doors 😉
Bloody secret Gooner you lol. Admittedly though, Henry was a ridiculously good baller & I liked the way he played the game. It's a bit of a relief finally publishing the drone video. People had asked us for ages to record one but we weren't in a position to buy one. Thankfully, John visited & did the business. Unfortunately, he only took 90 seconds in total! That made for a lot of splits & zooms in the edits. Overall happy with the result & it's another requested video ticked off lol. Mrs Crabtree & myself will be setting up the rods soon. She wants to get some practice in before her rematch with bitter rival Chris. That will almost certainly make it 5-0 in the series. We're going to have a night fishing session in the Glory Hole Swim &, weather permitting, camp out in the new bamboo shack soon..... BBQ, a few beers & a bit of music. We've not done that for an age! Good to see last night's pod cast. We were out on date night so I couldn't watch it until today (still not finished it) but managed to fire a couple of comments in the chat. Shame about the audio issues but looked good nonetheless 👍
