McEnroe was ridiculously talented. Everyone has said it already. The touch, the hands at net, the quickness, extremely unique style. One of a kind!

The two points starting at 0:59 are absolute classic McEnroe. Imagine returning that serve and seeing him come in like that. What an experience.

Very cool. One day I think you'll be even prouder and happier to say you hit with John Mcenroe - even if he was 60! With all due respect to other greats: Sampras, Nadal, Federer, Borg, I don't think anyone had the feel for the racquet, the touch, or played the game in such an improvisation, artistic way as Mcenroe. Those compact strokes, ability to take the ball so early, and mix of spins, slice and dice, using the opponent's power, and playing all over the court in aggressive ways. One of a kind.

What a special opportunity to play with the great Johnny Mac. He's been my favorite tennis for more than 40 years, and I never get tired of watching his artistry. His control of the racket face is unsurpassed; I think Roger comes close. Like all of us, he has slowed down a bit but he still plays amazing tennis. One of the things I marvel at is the simplicity and efficiency of his strokes. As Ricky notes, he's an absolute master of taking the ball on the rise and using his opponents' pace to his advantage.

In an era of lag and snap, rotational forehands, and two handed backhands, it's so refreshing to see those classic strokes, with a continental grip giving a young player a run for his money.
I only wonder what a 25 year old McEnroe would have done here.

Vlad-you are too young to recall a time when John was like Roger Federer was early 2000s. Living legend ruling the tennis world...nonstop talent, amazing hands, next level game, favorite or all fans, and always a super hot ticket when playing for the fans. What must it be like to play against him?? Looks decent even at his age to be playing so well. Loves the game now it seems too. Just give us some insight...?

I can feel John’s pain. We’re the same age and both from NYS, though I’m from upstate. I also played S&V, but never was better than strong 4.5 level. Like him, I still volley well but after 55 the legs and agility are pretty much gone at the baseline. At his peak he was a joy to watch though his petulance was quite annoying.
