I've had the Gsx S1000f for about 6 months and it is by far the best bike I've ever owned. I've ridden the R1, GsxR1k, BMW S1000, and although they are fast bikes, i'd take this bike over them any day everyday. I commute on it, i do twisties on it and even did one track day on it and it just eats up the road with never ending comfort and power all over the place. This bike has literally saved my ass on long road trips like none other before it. I LOVE THIS BIKE.... way under rated. Off the line, it hauls ass too. The power range starts down low and just continues. It's freaking amazing. I gather that is due to the K5 engine format. I'm getting older and this bike suits me perfectly. My R1 friends were amazed at the performance of this bike. lol Nice honest review! Good job! You make me want to go ride mine. LOL Peace!
I've had my S1000 for 3 years now. Just put a full racing exhaust with a BMC filter and akrapovic muffler. It was nasty stock, but now it's a *monster.* Sounds mean as hell, and 155whp. Also, comfortable to ride for hours. Wouldn't trade mine for anything.
Thanks for the fun-filled honest review . Really enjoyed it . Planning for a new 2018 Leftover model . Will Finalize shortly . Bit confused between 750 and 1000 . Any advise ??
Honestly, If you want something you can rev up through the gears and get into higher RPMs, the 750 might be the way to go. The 1000 is great, but by the time you're up in the revs in second gear, you're already breaking every speed law known to man. For the money I'm still really happy with this motorcycle; I'm going on 3 years of ownership and everything has been fantastic so far! You won't regret it!
I've dealt with bikes with windshields, supersports with full fairings and low-profile windshields, a handful of naked bikes. I prefer naked bikes due to the smooth airflow the body experiences, especially around the helmet. Only wind-tunned designed sportbikes are better when the windscreen dumps air about upper chest area, but inches below bottom of the helmet. After riding for hours feeling the hammering of buffeting air slamming your helmet, making or distant vision slightly blurry, inducing crazy fatigue and dull headaches; after riding in pocket of air on a hot day not able to get enough flow through the helmet vents, after cleaning large panels of windscreen and fairings of splatter bugs, after compromising performance for the sake of physical ergonomic comfort......... I can truly say that naked bikes with a flyscreen to cut a small hole in the air are the best way to go unless you really get a windshield the size of a barn door that throws ALL the air WELL above and around the head and body. Everything in between becomes a torrent of tornadic racket, buffeting, and rough nasty airflow. Sure you'll deal with more pressure on windy days, more neck strain on longer rides (get a better helmet!), and more temperature related fluctuations (get better gear!), but you'll thank yourself for having that smooth and clean flow of air around your head and body. You want to tour? Buy a mono-wheel trailer and pop it into the rear hollow axle, pull your crap in a water tight bin. You want to do some off road? Don't bother with an ADV (my opinion). You'll not like the on-road performance and you'll wish for much lighter and more capable offroad performance. Buy a DR650S and trailer it to a trailhead behind your car. There's no such thing as a do-it-all bike if you like high performance in both on-pavement rides and off-pavement rides. You gotta have more than one machine built for those places. My $0.02 after way too many bikes, trades, sales, disappointments, and wasted money.

Nice video! I got the Katana variant of the gsxs1000 and I love it! The windscreen that came with it didn’t do too much but after installing a MRA bubble wind screen I’ve had zero issues with the wind even for a naked bike. Power commander and quick shifter from dynajet are next on my list

Maybe a dumb question but how was it with adjusting to the power difference, bike feel etc. From your Ninja?
Good video. I’ve got a gixxer k7 and just bought a gsx s1000 to blast around on at the weekend and love it so far. Yes it’s a little snatchy low down but it’s not the problem people make it out to be, at least not on mine. It has a PC5 on it with stock map and it rides just fine. No way near as smooth as the K7 but just a blast to ride. Lots of smiles and bags of power. I have a MT07 too and there’s nothing wrong with that bike but I missed the power of a litre bike…..
You got a sweet deal on that bike ! I was looking at the GSXS-1000F because, I used to have an SV-1000S these two bikes are similiar, with full fairings, but engines are different.
I'm currently looking for either a z900 , fz09 or gsx1000. I honestly think I'll save up a little more money and pull the trigger on the gsx it just looks like the perfect bike
A lot of the problem with the snatchy throttle is down to the throttle position sensor being incorrectly set up from the factory, quite easy to adjust if you're reasonably competent mechanical wise.
Actually there's multiple issues, if people research modern FI motorcycles with modern emissions. Throttle tube on the handlebar has a fast ratio of twist. ECU is programmed from factory to cut all fuel off on full off-throttle. Reapplying throttle has to re-wet the intake and there's a delay between off and on, causing a lurch. Stock fuel mapping from factory is extremely lean on the bottom half the RPM (see the link below). Stock throttle cable slack at the handlebar is usually too sloppy from dealership setup. Put all of this together and it's just one compounded mess upon another. All of it completely and totally fixable. Comon people, this is modern computer controled, high precision stuff. It's emissions and regulations that destroy driveability and performance. Stock bikes? ECU restricts full power in gears 1 through 3 via ignition trimming, secondary throttlebody butterflies partially closing, etc. ECU flash is the only way to clean up all running issues. Powercommander is probably the best way to deal with fuel maps coupled with a local dyno shop (at the altitude you normally ride with the fuel you normally use, with the exhaust system and/or intake filter mods you applied). As far as I know, the throttle issue is fixed for 2018. Mine HAS A 2017 ECM and that didn't fix the issue. (My bike is a model year 2016). You can always install a power commander; that fixed the issue on my bike perfectly.
your game riding with traction control off. When i turn my Z model off it's power standing and sliding all over the place. In the wet there's no way in hell i'd turn it off. I'd like to keep my licence (loss of licence where i'm from) Mind you did not stop me getting clocked at 150 km a few weeks ago, i think because i was behind her vehicle at the time (what a hooligan) may have saved my licence and bike impound. I agree with most of what you said. I lane split/filter daily and like my mirrors inside the fat bar dimensions, otherwise i make too many enemies banging mirrors. Thanks for taking the time.
Just the stock map that came with the PCV. There weren't any available with I put it on. There probably is now though. I would like to do a CAT delete and a slip on soon.
Nice video, I'm a beginner motorcyclist, my first bike at age 48 end am small 166cm,, so which bike of this equation is right for me? I drive daily to work in the city and also the highway and sometimes during a weekend round of recreational so, which one? don't like Adventure such an engine, love Naked bike so what is your opinion? are they similar to Honda cb 1000 r or Kawa z1000
Petroos Abdollahian also, good for you for not getting a freaking 300cc starter bike. My brother warned me about that and I’m really glad I listened to him!
Hi Scooter I just Bought a 2017 Suzuki gas S1000 Black and red and your right its a Awesome Ride.If you don't mind I will like to ask you for the list of your accessories so i can get some ideas how to customize my Bike if you don't Mind hey and I really Dig you Video I will wait for your respond. Wicho
did you come of the a ninja 650r or ninja 650l ( lams approved) is there any engine vibrations come throw , thats the reason i sold my ninja 650l after 5 months owning it , and am now looking at either the gsxs750 or the 1000,
I really like this one with the black on the fuel tank right by your crotch where it says gsx 1000 like that but I can’t find one anywhere on the market I can’t figure out why either.
Like I love this bike and I haven’t owned one yet but I’m seriously going to go out and buy either the 2018 gsx s 1000 which is black and blue but has no yellow on it like yours. ( or what ever color that is) or I’m going to buy the one you have.. but I really like how your bike has a all blue fuel tank (mostly blue) the 2018 has mostly black fuel tank which is still nice looking.
Haha but I really would love your help . I have been spending mostly all my down time the past few weeks reading about this bike and the last few years of each model to try and learn everything there is about this bike. That includes the F model and the blacked out Z model as well including the past few years. Thanks so much for putting this video up! I can’t wait for more! Btw where do you live ?
I live up in Stanwood Washington and I just moved from Colorado so I can’t wait to buy this bike and ride back to my family’s place on Colorado! We should ride when I get my bike!
I have the 2016 1000F SA. I'm running Metzler M7's. Great in the wet. Heat up quickly. Installed BMZ filter, M4 slip-on & Heal Tech TRE w/ gear pro. Better, faster, stronger now. Will probably install Bazazz unit in future. Use of 2016 GSXR frame was ace decision by Suzuki.
Im little on the fence still.. Thinking of a new Kawasaki Z900, but then i test drive a GSX-S 750 and it was a great bike, but little more power could not hurt (I drive a Kawasaki Z650 now, everything fall apart) So im going tomorrow to have a test drive on a 2020 GSX-S 1000 and if its about same as a GSX-S 750 but with more power i take the bike. Do you still have the bike? You had any thing wrong with it?
I tested a Z900 as well. It wasn't bad, I just liked the GSX-S a little bit better. Kawasaki has really been putting out some great motorcycles as of late!
I trying to decide between the gsxs1000 and gszs1000F I know the main difference is going to be the looks and a few more pounds on the bike, just wondering if anyone had some input, thanks. Great video 👍
TEXASdieHARD 26 ...I have a 2018 GSX-a 1000f because I’m not a fan of the wind from a naked bike. I understand the windscreen on the f makes the front end more planted. I actually added the Puig touring screen. Now I can cruise at 90mph with my left had on my hip if I choose. No way could I do that before. So I’m really happy with the f.
Thank y'all for the input I've decided on getting the 1000f it fits my type of riding better mainly, 90mile round trip (highway and traffic) for work then some spirited riding on the weekends on curvy country roads.
I don't find the wind to be that bad. My riding is for the most part on the highway. Thunderstorms, semi blasts, cross winds, no problem. I'm sure I've been riding sideways in the rain and the bike didn't once make me feel not in control. The traction control is a thing of beauty. I'm on the naked version..
You sure got confident in 5000 miles. There is no way i'd have TC off. I keep mine on highest intervention rain or shine otherwise either the back wheel spins\steps out occasionally and the front wheel is incessantly lifting. Nice review.
I only turn the TC on if I hit inclement weather. I haven't had any issues controlling the bike, though the front will occasionally lift a bit during hard throttle.
I am still doing the break in and actually keeping it at 6k rpm and below but my 1000 stays planted, like it doesn’t want to lift the front at all. I guess I will see the true power once I am opening it up more. I honestly haven’t even had a need to go above 6,000 rpm yet!
@@RSRS-ws3px To keep within legal limits and recommended break in revs you wont. Take it past 8000 with TC off... well you better be ready for it. I tend to keep TC on to preserve fork seals and to some degree steering control (it can really shake it's head when landing still under power). With TC set to one it barely lifts 50 cm. Also assuming you have the std Dunlop hoops you'll see the TC light consistently light 1st through 3rd. Mine lasted 6000kms and replaced it with a Conti Road Attack 3. It's proving superior especially in the wet/braking and overall wear so far. Ride safe 14RS3
geeman First service completed today! Sitting at 670 miles on the odometer as I put it in the garage! It’s a 44 mile drive to the dealership. On the way back I got on it a little here and there but still didn’t get over 8k rpm or probably over 3/4 throttle! I still have TC off but will probably turn it on the next time I take it out. Besides the 2007 Bandit 1250S I had 11 years ago, I have only owned CBR 600’s and GSX-R 750’s! I think this is my favorite of the bunch. That 1250 motor did have great torque but the weight of the bike made it less enjoyable than it should have been
@@RSRS-ws3px i agree totally, i had a the same year bandit briefly but heavily modded, including weight mods. It dyno-ed at 136 bhp and went like stink but still felt like an elephant. I keep my TC on for several reasons not least safety. One can lose their license for intentional power stands where i'm from. A lot people don't know the Gixess is quicker out of the blocks initially before the higher reving Gixer hauls it in.There are vids to prove it. When the time comes i can't speak highly enough about the Conti's, it out did the Angle GT and Road pilots in two very recent European tests. Ride safe.
Diamond Cut Productions seating position is more upright on the FZ-09, and taller. Price less on the FZ as well. I have t been keeping up o current models unfortunately. I do have a buddy who loves his FZ-09. I do t think you could go wrong either way!
I found a brand new, leftover 2016 1000 at a dealership in Dover, Delaware. They had 4 in stock and I was able to get the non ABS model for $7K!! Probably could have talked them down a little more but I was happy with the price and have enjoyed every second with it for two weeks now! My favorite of the 6 street bikes I have owned!
PapaNeedsABreak just had the 600 mile service completed yesterday! The dealership is 43 miles from my house so almost 700 miles on it now, this Saturday will be 3 weeks that I have had her. I can tell I am getting old, my first street bike was a 1994 CBR 600 I bought new the summer of 1993! I put 3000 miles on it the first month!
Great video my friend very informative. I have the possibility of a great deal on a 2019 GSX-S1000 only 500 miles too. So want to put pen to paper on this deal lol already have a GSXR-750 K5 which i love and there lies the problem i cant have two can i ????lol.
Nice vid! Lol we got same bike same mirrors same windscreen possibility same crash sliders lol we must be friends I sub u long time ago. What is your favorite famous road to ride? Dragon for me 318 turns in 11.6 miles chhaaa
Those west coast roads look great, the weather looks great the pacific highway to the cannons where ever those videos r shot. Have a great season S1000 brother chhaaa, it’s almost here!
Around here, there are places you can/cannot speed with relative safety and likelihood of having to deal with Johnny Law. The idea of hitting a deer or other animal also gets me to slow down a bit:)
What you mean? If you're implying that 1000 cc bike will outrun the cops? You can try that, but you can end up dead or locked up for a few years...so fearing a ticket is healthy.
I lowered front by 1/2 inch on my 2016 1000F SA for lower seat height. The other benefit was improved turn-in. Front didn't push as significant thereafter during hard cornering. I've put 13k on the clock. Actually looking forward to valve tune @ 15k as I've noticed its pulls tad less.
hey man nice video. was wondering if we could do a skype call so i can talk to you more about it as im looking to buy one but am a little unsure cheers
PNW Sportbike Life the only thing is I've test ridden the 750 and loved it but haven't test ridden the 1000 cos I can't seem to find one to test ride. Is there a scary amount of difference in power or is it ok and tame unless you really ring the throttle? Cos the MT09 is scary powerful with the front end wanting to pop up every time you take off lol.
The 1000 just has more power and more torque; there aren't really too many difference. Seat height is actually taller on the 750; if that makes a difference for you.

I agree with most of what you said. I lane split/filter daily and like my mirrors inside the fat bar dimensions, otherwise i make too many enemies banging mirrors. Thanks for taking the time.
Is this the ABS model? Good bike! Good review.
Yes indeed. I think all of the 1000s come with ABS. Thanks for the kind words!
Just bought a 2018. Needs a PCv badly. What map are you using?
Just the stock map that came with the PCV. There weren't any available with I put it on. There probably is now though. I would like to do a CAT delete and a slip on soon.
@@PNW_Sportbike_Life arrow full system, k&n and a dyno will get you nearly 150 at the wheel.
Petroos, very similar yes; all great motorcycles
Petroos Abdollahian also, good for you for not getting a freaking 300cc starter bike. My brother warned me about that and I’m really glad I listened to him!
@@PNW_Sportbike_Life thanks for reaction
Hi Scooter I just Bought a 2017 Suzuki gas S1000 Black and red and your right its a Awesome Ride.If you don't mind I will like to ask you for the list of your accessories so i can get some ideas how to customize my Bike if you don't Mind hey and I really Dig you Video I will wait for your respond. Hey Scooter my email is epff6433@gmail.com Hey and where are you Located? I am In Texas.
Hey Luis, vagabond Frame sliders, bikemaster bar-end mirrors, vagabond fender eliminator and the Suzuki OEM bug screen:)
That road tho bro , was fine as he'll 😎
Nice review ! You help me to make a choice for second bike 👍
I own the fairing version of this bike and I love it! Fairings make oil changes harder. Use ethanol free gas and this bike will fly (150+) !
indeed! I hit 154 on this one and she was rock solid. no stability issues at all. (Thank God!)
did you come of the a ninja 650r or ninja 650l ( lams approved) is there any engine vibrations come throw , thats the reason i sold my ninja 650l after 5 months owning it , and am now looking at either the gsxs750 or the 1000,
not quite sure what you're asking, but I basically got bored of the 650, and that's why I got rid of it
how many miles per gallons do you get?
I picked up a new 2019 Z model few months ago for $7200+ fees. Absolutely an awesome value..
Oh, that's just a tank pad! It's one that I ordered from Suzuki if I'm not mistaken.
Why did you put a power commander on
to smooth out the throttle. Next year I'm going to be doing the exhaust and ECU flash/custom tune
Great video 👍
all about if you want that fairing or not. More crap you've got to take off during maint!
Justin Voluck ...you’re welcome..no problem
I don't find the wind to be that bad. My riding is for the most part on the highway. Thunderstorms, semi blasts, cross winds, no problem. I'm sure I've been riding sideways in the rain and the bike didn't once make me feel not in control. The traction control is a thing of beauty. I'm on the naked version..
Great review mate I just sold my 2016 Gsxs 1000 for a 2013 gsxr 1000
I thought the Gsxs was fast oh how wrong I was 😂😂😂 be great to have both
How is the GSX-R vs the GSX-S? Comfort wise/long distance riding
What the accessories for this bike ?
Great review!!
Thanks man! Bike is still going strong; no issues at all:)
Lap timer?
Ride safe.
Great, thanks! Makes my decision making much easier.
It's a great motorcycle; I've never regretted buying it
😍😍😍 good explanation 😍😍😍😍 good work Bro thanks for sharing 😍😍😍
Trying to decide between Yamaha fz09 and gsxs1000. Any advice?
Diamond Cut Productions seating position is more upright on the FZ-09, and taller. Price less on the FZ as well. I have t been keeping up o current models unfortunately. I do have a buddy who loves his FZ-09. I do t think you could go wrong either way!
Just swapped my FZ09 for one of these. No competition, the Suzuki blows it away on every front.
Spend the extra $ and get a gsx-s
Still relevant to buy this in 2019?
I found a brand new, leftover 2016 1000 at a dealership in Dover, Delaware. They had 4 in stock and I was able to get the non ABS model for $7K!!
Probably could have talked them down a little more but I was happy with the price and have enjoyed every second with it for two weeks now!
My favorite of the 6 street bikes I have owned!
@@RSRS-ws3px Couldn't wait for the reply. I already owned one gsx-s1000 almost a month now. Great bike enjoy every moment on it.
@@RSRS-ws3px Be sure to change that oil. Who knows how long that oil has been sitting there.
Loving my 18 z. 😊
Yes, I give you permission to have two!
@@PNW_Sportbike_Life well in that case thank you i will.
2500 miles on my stocker tires :/ went with Q3+
Nice vid! Lol we got same bike same mirrors same windscreen possibility same crash sliders lol we must be friends I sub u long time ago. What is your favorite famous road to ride? Dragon for me 318 turns in 11.6 miles chhaaa
I'm out on the west coast brother! There are some great spots out here when the traffic isn't screwing in up!
Those west coast roads look great, the weather looks great the pacific highway to the cannons where ever those videos r shot. Have a great season S1000 brother chhaaa, it’s almost here!
I subscribed to you awhile back ;)
does it wheelie easy?
Dannnk nooners !!!
Just be sure to have some new fork seals and steering head bearings ready to go..
Seats ok. Feel it on long rides.
Do u have any info on the 2018 gsxs1000 because I'm going from a 2011 cbr600rr and plus my ensurance love naked bikes for some reason
Christian I pay 60 per month with my wife’s FZ6R; both perfect records. She’s getting the 2018 GSX-S1000z edition this spring
I'm with StateFarm, Insurance for me is less than $475/yr. full coverage on my 1000F. Over 40 rider.
It's a great gearbox indeed
Afraid to get a ticket on a 1000cc ? I didn’t even know someone could use those words in a sentence together 😱
Great video...thanks for great information...getting this bike to add to my Ducati stable...
Btw..I’m 5’7”, and I feel you on the seat height BS!
Definitely Angel GT.
2nd roars to 160kph.
Where's the corners? This is not a Harley, ride it!
metallurgy sorry man, that section of road didn’t happen to have many twisties
hey man nice video. was wondering if we could do a skype call so i can talk to you more about it as im looking to buy one but am a little unsure cheers
Thanks man! You won't regret it. We are adding a 2018 GSX-S1000Z to the family this week!
Oh, it's got more power than an 09 and I think it's very ride-able around town/commuting. When you get on it though, it's a rocket!
PNW Sportbike Life thanks I guess I just have to ride one before making my mind up 🤔 so confused between the 750 and the 1000 ☹
The 1000 just has more power and more torque; there aren't really too many difference. Seat height is actually taller on the 750; if that makes a difference for you.
Dont pronounce it just call it gixus
I'll do what I want Rob!
