That sound effect when duke went invisible made me laugh which was greatly needed as I could feel my heart breaking with such wonderful voice acting for this wonderful comic.
Bruce doesn't want to lose anymore people to him, if it's joker he will likely go at him mono e mono. Last time when he lost Jason he heavily blamed himself for being a failure for not making sure Jason was well trained enough and for not watching over him. Bruce has a fear of losing the people he loves he'd just never admit it to anybody else even himself. He'd rather die fighting the joker by himself then let his family get hurt.
It really shows how terrifying the joker really is. If even batman is scared of him it means he's absolutely terrifying to the average Joe blo, and explains why his crew still work for him.
Man this was so tense! I get people will criticize Bruce for telling them to turn back but this is the Joker we’re talking about. It was just a miracle Duke got away so Joker couldn’t use him for the next stage of his plan, but he could still nab the others. Way a way to truly introduce Joker. We’ve never seen him for real, only appearing in flashbacks, and it’s always super serious when they occur. And now he’s here and ready to tear Batman *and* his family to the ground in the worst way imaginable, maybe even worse. Who knows what this wild card is going to do next…

Actually that origin is from a decent amount of Duke’s stories. I personally just bought a 2021 comic (which was probably begun in 2020 therefore predating the webtoon) and Duke had the same origin (it was Secret Files: The Signal)

After already having seen this webtoon by then, I was happy to see that they’d kinda been close in other media too (apparently both having been ‘Outsiders’ before The Signal #1) although in this one Cass is Batgirl, not Orphan. I doubt we’ll be seeing a Batman who laughs like that anytime soon

Because Joker is the biggest "variable" in Gotham. He's unpredictable menace, Bruce's biggest nemesis and of course, he doesnt want another Jason Todd incident. The Joker is THAT much of a threat.

Joker's like a DS3 boss character and the kids ain't ready. It would be a mass Jason Todd incident on a greater scale.
