As someone who has visited Amsterdam many times as a tourist I will give my honest opinion. Jordaan and Grachtengordel are very beautiful districts but the buildings there are old and many hotels won't have elevators and Dutch stairs are literally a 'trap'. So great if you are young and fit and also have a bit of money to spend. The oud west and oud zuid are quiet neighbourhoods which are great for people who want a more laid back holiday. Go to de plantage though if you want literally no noise and no wild tourists but love nature. De Pijp is the official hipster zone where trendy is just normal but if you really want to be a hipster stay in the Noord district and save money. Not all of the Binnenstad is the red light district. And consider the areas just outside the city which have excellent transport links to the city. For example Sloterdijk which will be much cheaper for hotels with the drawback being that it takes 20mins to get into the city centre. Though transport in Amsterdam is excellent so this really shouldn't be a problem.
I'm going to Amsterdam for the first time in May. Booked a 3 night stay at the Park Hotel. I want to visit the museums and catch the canal boat tour so thought this might be a good place since it's so close to the museums. Since I'm only here for three days, I thought one day it would be fun to see the windmills. Interestingly, I don't see a lot of people talking about going to see the windmill. Is it not worth it?
Glad running into your video just in time..flying to Amsterdam for Christmas for the first time. Made my life easier listing our itinerary ❤️ Great video, man!👏
A bit of a conundrum isn't it? While we don't recommend it and wouldn't stay there, we couldn't make the video without mentioning it. There also is a type of traveler who will want to stay there so we highlighted it.
I am finding it very difficult to find accommodation for a family (teenage children 20 & 17). I am looking near Central Station and the Grachtengordel districts but not the red light area. I am wanting that Amsterdam feel with a canal and view out the front and cafes around. Mid-range price under $1,840 euro all up. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated

We booked a trip to Amsterdam on April. I hope this new variant of corona virus won’t affect our travel schedule or no new crazy travel restrictions..
Fingers crossed, but Amsterdam is worth waiting for. What are you most excited about?

I just uploaded a travel film on Amsterdam too, would you mind checking it out? 🌞
Cool video. Why do you have Red Light district as "top 5", but don't recommend it?? Is there other areas that would be good?

Is Amsterdam the Venice of the North? or is Venice The Amsterdam of the South?

Good question!
Entirely different from Venice. You can’t compare the 2.
