This was so insightful, I really enjoyed it. I'm so impressed with the quality of work your patrons delivered! I'd love to see more of these critiques.
Lovely video Emma 😊 I think critiques are so important for learning and growing. Well done to your patrons for being brave enough to share their work for this critique. It is definitely not easy to put yourselves out there but I think they both did a beautiful job! And well done to all other patrons who took part 😊
WOW! I really appreciate this kind of video. It is something that is rarely seen, and yet it can be so revealing. Thank you for sharing your critique. I fell in love with the Maine Coon cat. What an extraordinary painting. The dog was talking to me, too, immediately. Painting animals myself, I love to see other people’s work. So much to enjoy and learn from!
Hi Emma, your work is incredible! I love pastels and have done some good paintings. But it is such a messy medium.I track colors all over my house and clothes.Any solutions?
Hi Jackie, I love the strength of pigment colour from the sticks. The pencils are like having the smallest paint brush. My sticks give me all the other sizes of marks I need.
thanks for your replay! i want to start with pastel what brand do you recommend me to purchase? but, besides the sticks do you use pastel pencil, for details, as well?
I am glad you shared this publicly! It is such a wonderful video and Everyone can learn from this! I hope you will be able to create videos along this series and that it is not to difficult. Nadiaxel just created a new Patreon Level for people wanting a critic of their works and accompanying video for all to learn from! I loved your whole video and critic! My only complaint? Not long enough! Well that is the eternal question how long is to long ? Just create a video that is easiest for you to create! Maybe limit the submissions by subject next time? We will be supportive and thankful for your sharing of your expertise! Thanks Emma!
Definitely learning from every new thing on Patreon. Hopefully I will make a few refinements on the next competition. Definitely planning some more critique videos though.
I think 13:26 is a near masterpiece. The figure is the issue, because it would work if the person were older. The rendering and the posture are effective. However, it would go up to a master level of storytelling if it was a young woman, with footsteps trailing behind. Is she _going_ up to the water's edge because she's in awe of the scene, or is she walking _into_ the troubled waters to end her own?
The critiques you did are useful, of course. They help the beginers, like me. Thank you very much for that.
Thank you for your critiques. And yes more of these would be so beneficial.
I'm so impressed by the entries and the critiques are very useful for me. I'm looking forward to future critiques.
I really appreciate you sharing this critique! This is what pushes artists to make better choices and better art...
