The analysis here is consistently of a higher quality than the breakdown - having a current player and a recently retired one allows a much more contemporary and granular insight into the mechanics of modern rugby which I love - should be the benchmark for all rugby analysis shows.
The breakdown show is produced that way on purpose in order to generate interest, provoke fans into a reaction in order to gain more numbers and for entertainment..half of what is said on that show is simply to get a reaction
Best rugby show from a Bok supporter.100% non biased analysis that is highly appreciated! Gentlemen all 3 of you are a credit to this beautiful game and as always look forward to the next episode!
Its not that South Africa has had bad backs or have not been able to play attacking lines form the backs - its just that they have favoured a more risk free game. But I think that now that Rassie has nailed down the forward play and set pieces and defence, it is time to move to total rugby (as long as the defence is not affected).
No,Rassie lacks the talent to coach running rugby. What we're seeing now is the same thing we've seen with other international teams that hires a New Zealand coaches(Argentina,Ireland).Tony Brown is the key,not any of our South African coaches.
We smashed nz at Twickenham long before tony brown, that was the blue print, for nz to try take credit for the plethora of talent coming out of sa is typical first world nanny state brat behavior go steal more fijians 😂@@jdQuinnn
From a Springbok supporter. The All Blacks can most certainly bounce back. The All Blacks is the most consistent team in the world and can NEVER be underestimated. I love the All Black's excellent sportsmanship and objectivity. Playing the All Blacks is our ultimate challenge. I love and appreciate your pod.
Great show guys! So much more insight than most other shows. I'd love to see you guys do a joint show for these big games with some South African shows.
The All Blacks don't have a 'bomb squad' now, but they used to. Losing SuperRugby has hurt them massively, in getting more players closer to test level, and used to playing under that level of pressure week in and week out. Really enjoy your show guys, keep it up.
Abs invented the term bomb squad back in 2010/2011 but it was mostly Cory Jane and Israel Dagg specialising in catching/neutralising bomb kicks, especially from the springboks
I think, the fact that SA players are now playing in the URC is a big advantage at this moment. Firstly, their players are now exposed to Northern Hemisphere rugby; Also many of our top players play for various clubs in Europe. Allowing Rassie to pick overseas based players for the Boks is a huge advantage as well. Having many Springboks playing overseas gives more opportunity for local players to fill those gaps in local provincial teams. I believe these are the main reasons why there is such depth in SA rugby at the moment. However, a team still only consists of 23 players on match day, whatever the depth is SA.
@bboy-kv6pd did they? Did they actually coin the term bomb squad, or did they just have a similar system? I ask because I have not heard the term bomb squad before the Rassie era

Excellent episode. Jemery Paul said the same thing on the Good/Bad/Rugby. Wallabies matched the Boks (parity) up front and let their superior backs (Ferraris) punch holes and find space. ABs are in the same position.
Razor will be the Rassie of Kiwi rugby. I really like him and was delighted with his appointment. Us Saffers want a level playing field and under Razor the All Blacks will play to their potential. This makes the right climate for our games against our old foes/friends. Viva rugby, Viva. Really looking forward to Saturday.
Great show guys Always respect to the All Blacks What a great Rugby nation I think the difference between SA bench and the other teams is the quality of there bench and the bench have a specific job when they come on and all things are working according to plan.
I think the 6-2 did blow up in our faces in 2022 at Ellis Park. We lost Jessie kriel to concussion in the first few minutes and we had to play Am at wing instead of centre. He did score a great try but it was disruptive and we struggled in the first half.
In this week's Breakdown programme, they showed a clip from a document about razor. He said him and Leon see the game in different ways. Razor is the optimist. Rangi was the pessimist (what could go right)
I got a lot of money on this first one. AB’s 12+ Game plan on this one: Intensity up front and back yourself at the back. From anywhere. We’ve got that ex factor in attack and we need to really back out selves, even if we are down and 5 mins to go. Have a run. Put up a grubber or throw it wide.
Good analysis and insight. The one thing you failed to mention about the bomb squad is our level of depth. We basically have 2 (at least) world class forwards in every position so we can replace one of the best forwards in their position in the world with another one of the best in the world.
Loving all the compliments lol. But we are still very much a work in progress, with players still finding their feet with finally getting the license to express themselves more.
The Boks have become very adaptable under Rassie and willing to vary their tactics a lot from game to game and taking risks. There’s just no predicting what they will do next, except in broad terms.
And... Rassie is really testing the mental strength and fortitude of the Boks he has selected for the 1st test. Part due to the lock crisis. He selected serious speed in that backline and a very mobile forward pack. This match is going to be very interesting.
Q: Is it time we merged some of the NPC sides? E.g. Otago + Southland, Manawatu + Hawksbay (Vikings :), Northland + North harbour (sorry boys), Counties + Waikato. We know there are too many teams and too many professional players to sustain. Is this an option? Do the boys have any better suggestions?
I have been at many games between the ABs and the Boks, and the banter has always been done in good spirit. In 2017 I was at the game between New Zealand 57, and South Africa 0 at the North Harbour stadium. The 57 was crazy but the zero to South Africa was insanely difficult to take. Still the AB supporters were very gracious. At one stage I took my Springbok jersey off and became neutral like Switzerland. Luckily we did not have good seats and we couldn't see the massacre that well.
Long suffering Harbour fan here. Even played with Feeney way back in the day as kids at Takapuna. @Bryn, respectfully, please tell your team mates that you're allowed to tackle the opposition. ta
ABs best chance to beat the Boks in SA is this weekend - so many Bok injuries, but next week there'll be 3-4 big players back in contention for the Boks
Boks play at width to their peril. Their forwards will have to be very fit. This takes away set piece. Watching their front rowers pass was as if it was their first time doing it.
They are starting Sacha and Fassi. They’re playing at Ellis Park, in what looks to be great conditions for rugby. They are going to attack and run everything.
The All Blacks have played the Springboks 106 times since 1921 for 62 wins, 40 losses and 4 draws. The All Blacks have held the Freedom Cup since 2010. What changes shall we see on the above Stats after their 2 Tests since the RWCup 2023?.. Will the Springboks increase their win tally from 40 to 42 or will the All Blacks increase theirs' to 64 to 40? Based on the last Test they played the Springboks should rattle up at least one win but Razor is too cunning for that mishap? A few million fans will be watching early 2moro morning. Good luck to both these champion ruggers!
If Robertson and MacDonald's split was amicable, then why did MacDonald not front up to the media with Robertson? It seems odd not to have heard from him.
All very good analysis, but you can easily pick up that they don't really know the Springboks that well. They kinda hoping that the Springboks play to the same game plan as all the years before.

@@bboy-kv6pd impressive stats, but the ABs only won 30% of the RWCs they were involved in; the Boks however, won 4 of the 8 RWC they were involved in. They also won around 79% of the games they had played between the 2019 and 2023 RWCs. But these stats are all irrelevant, come tomorrows game.

😂😂😂get over yourselves up there . Boks are focusing their energy on better teams not chokers you people there need to stop trying to add yourselves in conversations like this...TRC is what matters.. we got a draw with Ireland and that's fine.
The All Blacks seem to be riding on the legacy of past generations. Their current performance is not as formidable as it might appear-opponents may still be intimidated by the All Blacks' history rather than their present abilities. Razor, as a coach, might not fully realize that this team isn't as dominant as it once was.
Who writes these headlines? As a Sputh African I think its dumb to make such claims. We won a World Cup but thats a tournament and we need to show winning consistency over the next few years. We werent flash against Ireland. Yes we are favourites againt NZ 1 coz its at home and 2 coz its probably the weakest NZ side since 92 as they have lost a number of really top class players, maybe 6. I will wait until the games are over before boasting.
@@petes9524 sorry but you are wrong. The country's name is Spputth Efrica. Get your facts straight. Two t's and two p's. That is because of the Dutch and French influence on Afrikaans.
We've taken one of the best impact players in the world and nullified him. Beauden should be on the bench. We should start the test with a side prepared to bash the fck out of them. If we don't surpass them physically it's over. We're also losing the impact of Asafo Aumua because Taylor is the coaches mate and always the last to be replaced, for no observable reason. Taylor is a journeyman, his best is journeyman. Aumua has bigger upside than they're allowing. They need to give him time and space to grow into the team, like they have at his franchise where he was a level above all the others. You have to get gain line and physical advantage - Aumua.
While I'm enjoying my beans on toast here, I can sense a lot of nervous energy in the NZ camp😃 Honestly, I think South Africa & England are gonna be the 2 teams to beat at the 2027 RWC. NZ are finished. I think England, South Africa & Ireland will all be tougher to beat than NZ. England already have the 2nd best scrum in the world.
as a bok i think i would position talea at 13 a couple times. if that man can step the winger rushing in on him they're in space, ala mo'unga that led to the ABs disallowed try int he final

Just kidding, of course...
The All Blacks seem to be riding on the legacy of past generations. Their current performance is not as formidable as it might appear-opponents may still be intimidated by the All Blacks' history rather than their present abilities. Razor, as a coach, might not fully realize that this team isn't as dominant as it once was.
its in the infancy of a rebuild ffs!
If you knew your AB history, you'd realize that there have been other tough times. Remember 1998? And 2009-won 4 out of 9.
@@salomiodendaal4473 History? What are you like 20? I was bred into AB history in the 1970s
@@salomiodendaal4473 I don not like history. I failed it when I was in standards 6.
@@DwayneTate-p3i what has bread to do with it?
Cement? What more do you want from the Boks? Back-to-back world cups not enough?
Rebar and concrete.

You mean after the Sputh Africans have won?
@@petes9524 sorry but you are wrong. The country's name is Spputth Efrica. Get your facts straight. Two t's and two p's. That is because of the Dutch and French influence on Afrikaans.
@@johanstruwig3815 your version is Greek
Didn't Ireland beat the springboks in Durban mid July.
So ????
What is your point?
While I'm enjoying my beans on toast here, I can sense a lot of nervous energy in the NZ camp😃 Honestly, I think South Africa & England are gonna be the 2 teams to beat at the 2027 RWC. NZ are finished. I think England, South Africa & Ireland will all be tougher to beat than NZ. England already have the 2nd best scrum in the world.
as a bok i think i would position talea at 13 a couple times. if that man can step the winger rushing in on him they're in space, ala mo'unga that led to the ABs disallowed try int he final
No as they'll only be beating the 3rd best team in the world currently
Only if Japan beats the AB's.
To cement best side on the planet status they need to beat ireland/france... not the ABs, this aren't the 2000s - 2010s
So they can lose against the AB's and it wouldn't matter? The AB domination lasted until 2016 - not 2010!
@@salomiodendaal4473 that's why I put an "s" after 2010.
my prediction
ABs....1st
Boks...2nd
