- How i link, adjust and drain my air compressors, be careful about not exceeding the safe working pressure of your compressor and always make sure you have a pressure relief valve fitted to all the pressure vessels you have

i have been doing this with no regulator on first comp,strange how regulator works backwards this is only video i have seen where someone has not purchased some fittings and done it this way good work
Hi Richard, it works fine this way, and it also means you can move either compressor and use it separately, I've since got another larger compressor and linked the two larger ones together in the same way, cheers 👍

If I'm understanding correctly, the yellow hose from the outlet of the first compressor is going to the 'outlet' of the other, even though you're effectively using it as an 'inlet'. Is that right? TIA, Andy
Hi Andy, Yes, mate, that's exactly right. The air will go in or out depending on pressure, so an inlet is also the outlet

About to do this with a new and old compressor for 100 litres. My question is are you running the blue line off the 90 litre compressor to your tools and just the yellow one to the 50 litre for extra air capacity?
Hi mate, yes, that's what I did, I now have 2 x 90lt compressors and the 50lt if needed.
It doesn't matter how you do it. If you have the airline you draw from on the slave or the principal compressor, it still works fine.
Hi pete another great video, quick question when u set the pressure on your 90ltr to 8 1/2 bar was this done on the adjustment bolt when it was topping up again? I just done ur set up but its blowing the safty valve on the second compressor like u were getting
Hi buddy, I just added a little at a time to the pressure bolt as it's topping up, then stop when just before the pressure get too much for the relief valve on one of the compressors
I replaced my 8bar safety valve with a 10bar version later on, as long as the working pressure stamped on the tank is 10bar it should be fine
@peteshobbies5383 basically i just got 150ltr compressor & my other one is 100ltr both tanks 10bar & 15bar ph but the 100ltr is only 8bar on safety valve & 10bar safety on the 150ltr, think are do what u done & change the safety valve to 10 on the 100ltr
@kingvtec100 It shouldn't be a problem to do that as long as the tank is rated, according to which it sounds like it is 👍
Yeah thanks Pete that was how I reduced the cut off pressure from 10 to 9bar on my compressor.
As your slave tank can withstand 10bar you could remove the pressure relief valve (then plug it) from the slave tank then the one on your SGS compressor will serve both tanks or you can put a different pressure relief valve in your slave tank.
I made a mistake on the re-charge time for my compressor, I told you it was 1min as I was watching my vids and timing it from there I forgot my air fed mask was being used so it was under load while re-charging, accurate re-charge while using my mask is 50sec and once cut off it stays off for 1min 20secs. Need to time it when nothing is plugged in.
I didn't want to remove the relief valve as I separate them if i need to take a compressor somewhere, the 50lf is nice and easy to move around and can go in the car if needed, I had thought about another valve but it's not been a problem anyway, if i want lots of air i just have them both plugged in and one or both cut in when needed, also handy to move out the workshop if using air feed as it then gets clean air, you been doing any more spraying today?
Ah I see, if you need to be able to use it on it's own then it's best left as stock setup.
Yeah just been doing some flow coating work testing out different clear and hardener combinations. I like the Final Systems HS clear but the hardener causes a lot of dieback if you use anything over the slow speed and that is to slow when doing small jobs, again Tony has been advising me with this and so far the best one is the Churchill medium and fast or the upol S2030 fast which I tried today and both gives a great finish with no dieback and flashes off pretty quick.
@@JohnWD40TC02 I use the upol 2030 most of the time, the 2031 dies back more, to be honest, vertically all i use for TH-cam stuff is 2080 , it's really underrated imo, it's harder to spray as it's less forgiving but once you have mastered it you don't have any issues using anything else
Yeah agree about the 2080, I still have about a litre of it left, it is a nice clear and flashes off very quick plus gives a nice finish.
Like you with your guns, I like testing different clear kits and mix and match the hardeners to see what combination works the best.
I had the same problem last night With my pressure relief valve scared the shit out of me. What about putting a check valve in line stopping the air from building pressure in the tank that has the lower relief valve?
Hi Damien, yeah, that would work, I've just adjusted the 10 bar 90lt compressor down a little to stop it blowing the 50lts compressors relief valve, I've just finished a job that used loads of air so i had then both on together, the 90lt compressor kicks in first and if it can't keep up with demand then the 50lt also kicks in a little later, works brilliantly although a little noisy
Hi Pete, just out of interest, when you pack up for the evening do you discharge all the air out your compressor or leave it at what pressure is left? And does this change for you if you was to leave the compressor unused for say a week or 2. Cheers.
Hi Steven, I always leave it on whatever pressure it's at, then, next day i start it up, I drain it on startup every 2 days or so depending on how humid it is, it never holds pressure completely so if its left for 4 days or so it more or less runs itself out of pressure
@@peteshobbies5383 Thanks Pete, that’s pretty much what I do, although it sounds like my compressor holds its pressure better I can leave mine for weeks and still has what pressure I left it at.
It just makes sense to me to leave it as I’m sure the big swings in pressure can add more stress and it puts less ware on all the parts involved. Cheers once again. Steve.
Yes, certainly, if yours is holding pressure then it makes no sense to dump it, I know where my one leaks from but it means removing an aluminum pipe which i don't want to do as they become brittle so i just put up with it

Hi, yes, it's what i use, I only normally have one compressor running at once though and just use the extra one as storage but if you need lots of air you just plug both in and they look after themselves
Hello Pete could would you do a video of your set up I think that would be helpful to alot of diyrs and guys spraying in there shed, compressor type airline water trap filter setup ect ect
And the CFM ltr min do you have a dedicated air fed mask or a thro away 2k mask have you enough. Air for your guns and mask brilliant videos mate new sub here
Hi Lee, thanks mate, I will get round to a video of my setup it's just a matter of trying to make it interesting enough as it's a lot of words with little camera footage if that makes sense.
I do have a Devilbiss air fed mask but am guilty of rarely using it, if i do i have a separate filter set, same as the one i use for the guns that i use for that on its own single compressor that is outside the garage, most of the time i use a Moldex respirator, this isn't recommended for 2k as only an air fed is but its seems to work for me, all my compressors are 14.5cfm so i normally only need one running but you can put 2 on at the same time if needed. Hi Adam, there's no reason why it shouldn't, weather it's enough depends on the cfm that your cabinet draws.
The two compressors in this video both produce around 14cfm, this will be around 9.5 cfm free air, the total capacity is 140lt , so if 19cfm free air and 140lt capacity would work then it's fine, that's providing your power supply can run two compressor, the current draw would be around 4,400 Watts if they were both going together
