    USP is the peak of durability and reliability . The hk45 and other new designs are not as overbuilt . People wanted a lower slide but to do that they had to make a smaller guide rod system . The usp recoil spring system is the most durable design of all time . Usp can handle 45 super stock

    • @TheArkansasGunGuy

      I instantly now want one in 9 and .40!!!! It’s not as curvy as the P30 and VP9 but I think it actually feels better!!!
      THANK YOU for watching!!

      @RichiesHouse ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Those are all great and better then the competition but all fall to the usp . The usp didn’t take trying to make it smaller . It’s big for a reason . The system is the most over built period . Cannon grade steel barrel . The strongest chamber period . Guys have gone 200,000 45 acp with all stock parts . Take it apart and compare the parts to glock sig beretta etc . All great guns but the usp is the strongest design Period . Longest lasting parts . And that’s what I carry .

    The 'half cock' position is where the hammer rests after using the decock lever. It's not really meant to be operated manually. It's an added layer of safety of not having the hammer resting on the firing pin, even though the firing pin is blocked as well. Been carrying a USP 45 for 3 years now. Over built and insanely safe in a holster.

      How do you holster yours? I always felt a bit scared with treating it like an M1911 series handgun but H&K said it was intended to be carried that way safely as long as you don't fool around with it. I've carried it in a holster cocked and locked and have gotten used to it. It's actually clever that the safety doesn't block the slide's movement. That way, you can check the chamber and leave the safety on, something you can't do with a Browning Hi Power or 1911 series clone.

      I've been considering picking up a tactical model for home defense, if the world ends type gun. Worth knowing I'd have a gun that would hold up. Is it worth it in comparison to some more recent offereings?

    I know a lot of people who do the videos for the HK USP and Miss a very nice and key detail the Hk USP recoil system takes up 30% of your actual felt recoil which is very handy and to your question about your hammer that is designed for pre-travel so is kind of like shortening the distance there’s more to it then that but that’s the just of it

    • @largol33t1
      @largol33t1 ปีที่แล้ว

      True. The very first time I shot mine, I was shocked by how well it absorbed the recoil. I have never encountered any other .45 cal handgun that was so comfortable to shoot quickly. I still have mine and will never trade it in for an overpriced 1911 series knockoff. I don't care about the ugly looks. It's my home defense gun and as long as it can very reliably put 2-3 rounds into the burglar, that's the only thing that matters.

    I have a USP 9 and a HK45, both have HD night sights. My USP is a light LEM. I’m converting my HK 45 over to the light LEM. Both have the Grey Guns short reset in them. Both are very well made and over engineered. Like someone mentioned in the comments, you can shoot the 45 Super out of the USP and the HK45. They are rated for +P+ ammo. Having the HK45 is like having a P30 on steroids. Both feel the same in hand. I do prefer the recoil system on the USP or the HK45, even though it is a smooth shooting pistol, The USP feels a bit smoother with captive system.

    When you tried to pull the trigger in half cocked, you had the safety on. It is the position it goes to when decocked. With the safety off, you can pull the trigger and activate the slide. I carry in this condition with a round in the chamber.

      Interesting fact: on USPs issued to German police officers, the direction of the safety is REVERSED. You push up to turn it off. You push down to turn it on and decock the hammer. What surprised me is the Walther P38 is the reasoning for this. Many officers still carried it and the German Interior Ministry were worried that they would confuse the direction of the safety lever so they made sure it mimicked the P38 safety: push down for safe and up for fire. I have the US imported version and it's reverse: up for safe and down to middle to fire.

    I sold my first USP 45 in ‘10 and I kicked myself every day after. It was a ‘99. I just ust got another, brand new. Same great gun. I only wish they kept the “antler” marking on the slide instead of moving it under the trigger guard. I think the antler represents the town in Germany where they’re made. Otherwise, it’s the same magnificent gun besides the relatively small mods made over the years.
    These are the changes Im aware of… I saw these in an old HKPRO chat thread. Im curious to know if there are anymore after 2001….
    1994: Reduced the slide weight by 1.1 oz.
    1994-95: Changed to the polygonal rifled barrel (Prior barrels were standard land and groove)
    1994-95: Changed trigger transfer bar.
    1994-95: Changed recoil guide rod to a "captured spring version".
    1995: Changed trigger mechanism.
    1995-96: Added rubber spur to hammer.
    1995-96: Changed angle on slide lock.
    2000: Added locking feature to hammer strut support.
    2001: Converted captive recoil spring retainer from c-clip to machined end on USP Compacts.

      PS: interestingly, mine has a partial deer antler stamped in front of the SN. I was told this is required before it leaves Germany as a "production proof mark." I have no idea what that means. It's odd that yours doesn't have this. I wonder if the SN is part of the reason.
      Also, the CPN stamped on the slide isn't on mine. Instead it has the German eagle carved into it and the space after the SN doesn't have the letters DE stamped there. I'm surprised by how many differences are on the slide stampings.

    I've never owned or handled a H &K. Have heard nothing about good reviews from YTers. BUT i think too many fans have boutht into their marketing too much. Repeating what htey heard from H*K marketing . :) Has anyone of US actually bothered to truly "torture test" their prized H*K?? :) NOPE. . NO one talks about the internal parts e.g. what they are made of, are there MIM parts? How are they around sandy environments...places where there are sand-storms..light and heavy...do they still function? Are they any more durable than a Glock.? S&W M&P 2.0?? :) They sound like the Apple Computgers of firearms....
    Thoughts...why hasn't H&K made a full steel gun?? LIke SIG has for their polymerlines. Why is the P30 and uSP lines still not "optics ready"? I think they're resting on their laurels....like Apple...not even bothering to keep up...Their "Match" gun isnt even all steel...most are (from other companies)....
