    Wow, the amount of work in that is immense!
    I was expecting all the bound pages to be pressed together and then put in a huge machine to cut the edges perfectly square. But i like the fact that it probably looks properly hand made, because it didn't go through that process.
    I have a whole new appreciation for the work that goes into binding books now!

      Thanks for watching! I have trimmed the edges in some other books I’ve made (just by using a utility knife against the straightedge) but I like the handmade look as well!

    Headbands are not just decorative; they serve a function. They were originally used to allow you to pull a book out of a shelf using your finger without grabbing onto the spine cover and risking damaging the spine. However, it's important to note that you should never pull your books out this way.

    That came out great! Love seeing his reaction at the end.
    Have you considered a curved needle for stitching the text block? I've found it makes it a little easer when you start stitching all those signatures to one another.

    This is incredibly helpful! I plan to make a full hard-cover version of the Wizard's Companion from Ni No Kuni with this method. It's a much larger book but I think I can do it.

    Did you use the same glue for all the parts? Including the leather? Also, is there any reason to not wet the leather for the embossing?

    What happens if at the last part when adding the book block to the cover, it's too tight? I messed up and I'm making a gift and I don't know what to do. I can't start over

    Since I view you as an expert in 3D Printing and DIY in general, could you tell me if creating enamel pins is possible/feasible? Not the cheap plastic, but some really nice, (metal?) pins ^^

      Open up a hardcover book and you’ll notice that the spine isn’t attached to the text block.

    Looks great, but you skip super important parts. Like what do you do with the glue that leaks or comes out after you press the book.

    I'd love to see you rebind a bible like this, but with round folded over corners instead of the cut corners like this book has. I've seen people who rebind bibles use multiple pieces of leather and then they'll cut a slit for the spine but never really go into detail like you do.
