  • In this video I discuss drone wraps (skins) and how they can help improve your visual line of sight. I discuss and demonstrate a 50/50 wrap to help accommodate for the new UK regulations. Showcasing drones such as the DJI Mini 2, Mavic 2 pro and Mavic Air 2s. Check out the video and let us know if you want a custom drone skin today.

I’ve never used a drone wrap. The dual colour looked like a smart solution to VLOS rules. Currently I use white and green strobes to indicate orientation on the Mavic Pro.
    Nice video. Thanks for sharing.

We offer the 50/50 wrap for the m30t yes and all of the range but we don’t have these online.
      See range here - www.edinburghdronecompany.co.uk/droneskins/
To order 50/50 wraps, please email - info@edinburghdronecompany.co.uk with your colour choices.
The 50/50 wraps cost us double the money and are difficult to fit so are increased price. Email to discuss please

The orientation aspect is not law just guidance based on the CAA's interpretation of the law. However if you were involved in an incident and did not know the orientation at the time it could be used against you. The legal definition is in Regulation (EU) 2019/947 regards VLOS.

And the thing is, you'll always know the orientation, because you have the video feed.

They were not designed for VLOS . In the US rules, if you are looking at your phone/screen you are not keeping your drone in VLOS at all times as the rule implies and neither can a spotter/observer who is co located with you who is suppose to scan the skies AND keep your drone in VLOS every second of that flight. The rules are nonsense and can NOT bed followed as currently written and the regulators know it .
The Wrap idea is a good one and would help, But again as the rules are written , we break them every time we leave the ground even while trying to follow them

I can’t agree with you more on that comment.

The rule is to where at any point during the flight you can look up to see your drone, it just means you need to be able to see if there is anything else around your drone in case a Heli or anything could potentially collide.
Tho I also agree with you, with today's tech, I can pop the gimbal up straight and spin fast enough to determine if anything is at the height of my drone, because even though I can "see" my drone 1000ft away doesn't mean I can determine that an aircraft is within 10-20ft above or below me, should I go up or down? left, or right? Emergency shutdown 300ft high even if the aircraft wouldn't even come close?

Re-Read the rule what you said at any point during the flight is Not true.
the term " throughout" which means , 'during every part of '
not at any point during, but During EVERY ASPECT or EVERY PART or Totally
case in point the very rule and it's wording
§ 107.31 Visual line of sight aircraft operation.
      (a) With vision that is unaided by any device other than corrective lenses, the remote pilot in command, the visual observer (if one is used), and the person manipulating the flight control of the small unmanned aircraft system must be able to see the unmanned aircraft THROUGHOUT the entire flight
take note of the terms use, "THROUGHOUT" (b) THROUGHOUT the entire flight of the small unmanned aircraft, the ability described in paragraph (a) of this section must be exercised by either:
      (1) The remote pilot in command and the person manipulating the flight controls of the small unmanned aircraft system; or
      (2) A visual observer.
Again when flying FPV as we do, THAT Rule CAN NOT be obeyed by the operator or the observer and especially IF the observer has to follow rule section (a) (3) Observe the airspace for other air traffic or hazards; and
      (4) Determine that the unmanned aircraft does not endanger the life or property of another
thus rule ( A ) can not be followed nor complied with as it is written and described in rule "" § 107.31 Visual line of sight aircraft operation.""
the written rules are ludicrous and everyone knows it and yet those who claimed to be hobbyists sat idly by as they were imposed and did not correct the inept and openly admitted FAA who said they knew NOTHING about the hobby
terminology matters in rules and provisions and they are there for specific reasons an one is so they can say "Gotcha" ...Lol@@DroneSlingers

I airbrushed my drone with Fluorescent Airbrush Paint. less weight added and cheaper than decals. Why did DJI make the drone the same colour as the UK grey sky anyway ? all it does it make it difficult to see.

Great idea, we were considering this but not many will pay or strip down, airbrush and then reassemble. If you tape and keep in place then we would love to see finish

I mean or just add a strobe light that's visible for 5km.
2:40 also, i get you saying this for the video to be "on the record", but lets be real.
No cops got time to turn on the sirens to go out and weigh every Mini 3 that is flying without visible accessories.
You're not going to jail if its 5 grams over, as long as you're not flying like an inconsiderate fool, aint nobody weighing it.
