I just wonder, how can there be people who would give something like this a thumbs down? If you do not like organ music, or do not like this particular piece, or do not like this type of music, why bother even stopping by or playing it? Or is it that you object to the performance of the musicians? Why given something that cost you nothing, that is a beautiful gift, a thumbs down? What empty, boring, idle lives yours must be!

Another phenomenal performance by Jonathon. Thank you so much. Could the 23 thumbs down people please play and upload the same concert so we can see and hear them tackle this music? And if you can’t please don’t be so unkind to this amazingly talented and gifted musician. A big thank you also to Tom for enabling us to see so much of Jonathon’s playing, and of Chester Cathedral and also for the outstanding audio quality. Two amazing and talented gentlemen who bring such joy to so many. Bravo!

The Overture to Tannhäuser was truly a thrilling end to this wonderful concert. I listen to it a lot on Jonathan’s 2013 CD ‘The Organ of Rochdale Town Hall’ (still available to order, for anyone who doesn’t have it!) and close-up visuals make it even more awe-inspiring. Congratulations to Tom also, reaching new heights, sometimes literally, with his spectacular filming. A brilliant evening!

Absolute perfection. I'd be in heaven to have the opportunity to pull up a chair next to the console and study Jonathon's technique as he plays. I just can't understand how he is able to do everything he does playing the organ to bring these wonderful concerts our way. Thomas' videos of the venue are outstanding and add so much to these programs. I love the explanations Jonathan gives before each piece. He is a master in the highest degree. We love you. Take care and be safe.

Absolutely spellbinding performance on a very expressive instrument. Jonathan is such a gifted musician and drags the great British pipe organ from its comfortable, cloistered and liturgical complacency into the exciting and varied world of inspired performance. The presentation and exemplary videography/recording makes these programmes extra special, and Tom's brilliant shots of Chester's remarkable and very special misericords were a sheer joy.
The BBC would do well to learn from these presentations as a means of improving their own uninspiring arts and music programmes.

Listening to this through IEM with multiple highs, mids and lows with the sound of a very open soundstage (moondrop blessing 2). as an audiophile, even if you dont like classical you have to appreciate the sound the god of instruments can produce by a very talented player. There is never enough audio equipment to emphasize the range of an organ

That was a marvellous performance! I thoroughly enjoyed the musical programme, which was enhanced by the beautiful surroundings of Chester Cathedral. Absolutely wonderful, thank you.

Brahms: incredibly beautiful music! Immense... Tannhäuser is overwhelming. Amazing how the organ is both instrument and orchestra.

Aug. 06, 2023....I've been re-visiting a few of your classic pieces, and as ever I am still in awe of this one. I've been to Schloss Neu Schwanstein several times before hearing your magnificent performance, and I'm quite sure that had I been aware of this piece, while touring the Schloss, my knees would have buckled. I'll never look at one of my photos of that fairy-tail building the same way again. Thank you so very much . xx PS Did you know that the mad king was a huge fan of Wagner?

A concert about the "circle of life": From dawn to sunset & night; from death to life, it was all included. Mozart's "Zauberflöte" was the first opera, I've ever attended live - and I was hooked from the first minute listening to the ouverture. Gounod was so lovely and Brahms always brings a smile on your face and peace into your heart. Richard Wagner himself would have loved the transcription of the "Tannhäuser"-ouverture - absolutely stunning. Playing with ONE Hand on TWO manuals at the same time, wow Jonathan, that was so incredible.
Again a stunning performance and this cathedral is an impressive, amazing and wounderful building. Thanks for the great, great pictures, Tom, I loved to see the famous "cobweb" painting. This concert is again a masterpiece in every aspect. Many thanks for all your efforts & take care.
