      They did a season for each of their main shorts too! Frozen was set in Summer. Frozen Fever (Anna’s birthday) in Spring. Olaf’s Frozen Adventure in Winter. And then Frozen 2 in Fall.

      @@assassintwinat8 actually no, during the events of frozen it was three years after their parents death, Anna was 15 and Elsa was 18. During the events of Frozen Anna was 18 and Elsa was 21. This means that Frozen 2 happens 3 years later, seeing as they talk about the six year death gap. At this time Anna is now 21, and Elsa is now 24. • @tafr2378
      @tafr2378 2 ปีที่แล้ว +79

      @@kitkaty3 I don't think that's the purpose,it's supposed to be a little easteregg for older viewers while also showing Kristoffs insecurities and fears that he will overcome later in the movie. I think it's a very good song that makes his character deeper and more sensitive.

    • @tafr2378
      @tafr2378 2 ปีที่แล้ว +91

      @@kitkaty3 I didn't see it like that. I was feeling sorry for him because in the beginning he's clearly less important to Anna than Elsa and she was always shutting him out. But he learned that there was no competition and as Anna learned to let Elsa go, they both grew up together and can really be together now.
      The song was about how he wasn't sure if Anna even loved him anymore because she always leaves him behind, and if a girl I love so much I want to marry her does that to me I would also be very confused and sad. Be he handled it extremely well when they met again at the end, he didn't force his hurt feelings on her because it was the wrong time for that. He just said: "I'm here, what do you need?" And that is a true act of greatness in my opinion that was rewarded in the end.

I first saw this movie not too long after my older brother died in a car accident, and when Anna was singing that I have never related to a movie more, or cried during a movie more. The outtakes had a song Anna sings called “Home” in which she talks about how much she loves Arendelle - it would have been a much better fit than “Some Things Never Change” because not only does it establish that Anna loves their country in a way Elsa doesn’t - making her a much better fit as queen by the end - but also because it makes her risking Arendelle by breaking the dam all that much more personal. It’s literally my only complaint with the whole movie, which in fact did make me sob like a bitch.

    • @kitkaty3

      I think both could've been included! I love Home for that very reason, (and cause I believe Anna should've had another solo) but I also love Some Things Never Change for its foreshadowing. But then again the film in general arguably might have enough foreshadowing as it is haha

    Coming from a writer, yes, giving your characters trauma is fun
    Edit: If I'm being honest, I don't really stand by this sentiment anymore, I've seen too many professional story tellers try and do this and it only comes off as melodramatic or at worse trauma p0rn, you're free to keep doing it though if you want 👊 let those creative juices flow and all that

    Okay but frozen 2 was one of the actual good Disney sequels, it really explored the fact Elsa never really addressed the fact she literally was so afraid of herself for almost her entire life and then completely isolated herself in order to finally be free. And then at the end was just like "love lol" and everything was good again??? It was actually refreshing to see her realise her true self and her past throughout that movie. I agree with one caveat: Like you pointed out, Elsa spent her ENTIRE LIFE hating and fearing herself. Never “opened the door” for Anna or even for herself to love her. I’m still learning to do that at 29 years old and I have tons of people who love me in my life. So yes it’s overly simplistic, but sometimes mental health boils down to very basic, seemingly obvious things. Then Frozen II came in and solidified the fact that love *didn’t* fix all Elsa’s problems, but it was a big first step.

    I was disappointed that it was all about Elsa's inner issues again with anna going after her. Like why couldn't anna have more put in the movie like maybe her love being the fifth element to hold everything together

  • @OctagonalSquare
    @OctagonalSquare 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yeah Show Yourself is the ultimate culmination of all the musical themes through the whole movie. You blend Into the Unknown’s “AAAH ahhh Ah ah” motif with building tension, the lullaby from the beginning, and all that with incredible duet layers. It’s a musical masterpiece

    But the way it ended made it seem like it was gonna be just the one movie...wouldn't be hard to make a sequel?
    Super easy, barely an inconvenience
    So by the end of this we will be making people cry
    Making people cry is tight
    Why would you say that?
    Sorry, let's let it go

    • @BlazeDupree1525
      @BlazeDupree1525 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly the way they ended it would present them with the perfect opportunity to team up with dream works for the frozen/ rise of the guardians cross over people have been asking about. With Elsa dieing then coming back to life as the "5th Spirit" I feel like now she is immortal like the other spirits. She will feel lonely again because one day Anna and Kristoph and Sven will all be gone one day and her people will forget about her or think her nothing more then a myth who died long ago. Who better to make her feel less lone than someone who is just like her Jack Frost. Brought together by their mutual bestie Dale Wind.

  • @Broccolaicy
    @Broccolaicy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I actually didn't like the second one because yes it's more mature themed but it also focused on elsa more. I get she's more popular but the whole time, anna was just like "but elsa-" or "elsa wants-" or "elsa needs-". All of it is focused on elsa even when they found their parent's ship, it seemed like they only did it for elsa. Even to the end, when elsa gave her role to anna as queen of arendale(?), it was as if she just takes the leftovers of elsa and that frustrated me.

    You know what my favorite thing about this movie is. Everyone was so happy about finding out why their parents left on that trip, and that it was because they wanted to know about Elsa’s gifts, meanwhile, everyone who watched once upon a time knew this like 6 years ago

    Bonus points for making a sequel that retroactively made the resolution of the previous film into a mid point.
    Opening up about herself and her powers is no longer the end game. Now being liberated, she is in a good mental space to shed her role in the kingdom to follow her calling.
