    Hey Coaches,
What's your favorite way to get the defense in the look you want when you are running your Counter Trey scheme?

Hey Coach, One of our favorite ways to block this, is Deuce block the nose with C & LG to backside LB, LT blocks out on OLB. Pulling guard kicks out and RT leads to Play side LB. We had a hard time blocking the end because he was always beating us inside, shooting the gap. With the receivers We will also read the backside end and our outside receiver (X) will run a 1 step quick hitch, middle receiver (Z) will block Corner back and 3rd receiver (H) will block man inside of him, either the OLB or safety. That's What we do at Napa HS and its been real effected for us.Thanx.

      Coach Martinez,
That's a great adjustment for blocking the odd front. How did ya'll come up with that blocking scheme? Does the scheme change based on the front, or do you always block your counter trey like that?

Jesus Martinez That is exactly how we have done it for the last 10 years we have run GT. Allows rules to stay consistent for guard/center combo when a nose is present.

      Coach Peltier,
I'm looking into the rules so that I can keep them consistent with my guys. Thanks for your input, because I know this is something you do a lot, right?

Coach McKie rule for our PST is if he is covered on and outside he blocks outside (guard is uncovered).

Coach McKie how would you handle a 4i on the play side in a stack? Would you have your LT block down and your pulling Guard wrap and lead on a LB?

      Coach SJ Line,
      Yep, that's what we do.

The thing I don't like about the counter- Trey is that LB can Shoot the b Gap and Catch the Running Back. If you run it as a long Trap Counter out of 2x2 and 3x1. The hinge block or Climb Block. Can prevent That.
But Regardless both run regular counter and Counter Trey. In the QB Run Game on counter the running back Crosses the QB face and wraps to the LB. in counter Trey he crosses his face away from play Direction and kicks backside Defensive End.
When Defenses start to do Scrape exchanges with Inside Zone and Counter/Power, I like to send a receiver in jet motion and block the Linebacker scraping over after the fake.

Rather than Ace the N, have "all down" call so C has BSB.

We run the Q with this blocking scheme. Instead of reading the backside end the TB will block him after coming across. He starts sidesaddle playside, opposite of how it's drawn up in the video

if frontside guard and tackle are down to the backside, what do you do if the nose slants playside and the backside backer shoots through the backside a/b gap?

We tip our hat to them and play the next play.

What would you do if the back side MLB walks to the Lin’s and blitz?

The rules would take care of it.
