She interacts with both James and Eddie even when James isn't there at all, she doesn't see the monsters (Like Maria does), and she has actual physical letters from Mary before she died (James had a blank piece of paper). Silent Hill appears differently to different people so the fact that she can interacts with real people like James and Eddie and seemingly has her own safe and fun version of Silent Hill means she's real and the town doesn't do anything to her
It's cool how you can see how close you'd have to be to some stuff for them to be rendered in, because with the fog, you wouldn't really be able to see it from that distance.
Well you can still tell on PC when you cross those points because of the good old Unreal Engine traversal stutter (doesn't matter your spec). Just see the Digital Foundry video. Still loved the remake a ton. Just hope Bloober can improve that aspect. I don't blame them totally though since stutter with UE on PC has been a known thing for a long time.
@@sean8102 only way to fix stutter is to make the game again on higher version of UE5 that fixed this. Most games now or releasing in next 3 years will be using UE5 1.1 that has traversal stutter.
The amount of joy this remake has brought to fhe fans is insane. Thank you Bloober Team. You guys started because of Silent Hills and here we are ten years later, with Silent Hill 2 saving the franchise. Thank you Team Silent, Thank you Bloober Team Thank you for Silent Hill.

It's incredible to see the entire town of Silent Hill in such incredible detail here. I can actually see the streets and the buildings. Blooper Team did an incredible job making the entire town here.
This must be close to Laura's vision of the town, just without the monsters. It can't be possible that she is the normal world because she infiltrated in zone that must be people who stopped her, like the hotel, the hospital or even the movie theater.
Even with fog off, the game looks incredible. Genuinely a testament to the effort they put in design and fidelity. Just a shame they didn't take the genius artistic decisions of the original making some scenes look ass in comparison (like the first Maria meeting). Still love this gome tho.

I'll be honest. The game looks and gives off this eerie vibe in both perspectives, with and without fog. The fog variant gives off this vibe that there is something about to lunge at you at any given moment, especially in the deeper parts of the fog. It also gives off this mysterious vibe, because you're unaware what lies ahead of you. This mod shows how incredibly well and unique the town and such are designed. Every building feels and looks different, the overall vibe is also ''eerie'' but in a completely different sense. Both variants seem 'hopelessness' in their own way.
the lod wouldn't save that much performance since it already reduces poly count at a distance. Most modern engines do, and this is on UE5 so i'd imagine objects at a distance are a low resource. If anything the most demanding resource probably IS the fog 🤣with lighting being second.
I have a mod that tries to improve the graphics called "SH2 Essentials" I recommend giving it a try. Doesn't hurt performance. But this mod is certainty fun to look at!

I know many people will find this silly and stupid but I've been thinking for almost two decades that it is sad that anything that needs to be tagged as "horror" has to happen at night. I've played so many games and seen so many movies where I thought... I wish this would happen at daytime. Not because I was afraid but because I felt they had enough energy to give me the chills and vibes even at daytime, wich at the same time hit me much harder than the cheap night-stuff. If a story is good or if something got your guts then it will happen either at day time or night time, I feel it just became a cheap way to make cheaper games/movies were things look better due to the lack of light.

Yes and no. The studio alow themselfs to take advantage of loading closer stuff and save resourses thanks to the fog, but by design, not by need.
